Withered Returns From Tour, Featured On Hardtimes.ca
November 20, 2008
Having recently played the band’s sole 2008 homecoming show in Atlanta after a month-long trek alongside Swedish black metal titans Watain and labelmates Book of Black Earth, tortured blackened doomsters Withered are currently at home, with a handful of other confirmed regional / festival dates, already hard at work on new material. Guitarist/vocalist Mike Thompson elaborates: “Hi everyone! We have returned from touring the US and Canada with Watain and Book Of Black Earth. Having had a week or two to reflect, we would like to send out our appreciation and respect for everyone involved (especially Watain and BOBE for keeping us on our game). It was quite rewarding to project this level of intensity on some very deserving crowds each and every night.

“We’d like to send a sincere and resounding THANK YOU to all the fans who came out to support us. You continue to drive new focus and vigor into Withered’s jaded psyche. Your feedback has been simply overwhelming. Also, a big thanks to Cartel for keeping everything together and running smoothly with this group of chaotic heathens. We’re gonna do a bit of writing over the next few months and will make a handful of regional festivals/one-off shows that are NOT TO BE MISSED!! So, keep in touch and check our sites for new developments. They won’t disappoint. Cheers!”

Withered continues to support its Prosthetic Records debut, ‘Folie Circulaire,’ which is the follow-up to 2005’s critically-acclaimed debut ‘Memento Mori.’ The band recently caught up with HardTimes.ca in Quebec for an interesting interview with guitarist/vocalist Chris Freeman and drummer Beau Brandon. Check it out below.

Book Of Black Earth Checks In From The Road
October 28, 2008
Seattle’s Book Of Black Earth is currently enjoying the band’s first tour in support of ‘Horoskopus,’ the band’s Prosthetic Records debut, on the Black Metal Magic tour with headliners Watain and labelmates Withered.

"The road has treated us well,” vocalist/guitarist T.J. Cowgill says. “We are making new friends, fans, and breaking hearts and bottles in every city we go. We have slept on floors, in dirt, in squats, we have cradled depravity in our road weary limbs. Every city we go we leave a trail of vomit and nightmares, while sonically reducing the inhabitants to piles of fleshless bones. Tomorrow is another day, another day on the road chasing the dragon and psychedelic warload standing on the edge of time."

Book Of Black Earth consists of members of venerable metal underground band Teen Cthulhu, as well as drummer Joe Axler of Skarp, Splatterhouse, and Iamthethorn, among others. Having already released a self-financed demo in 2004 and a split release with underground legends Fall Of The Bastards in 2005, 2006’s ‘The Feast,’ received praise from Decibel magazine, Terrorizer magazine, and the band’s hometown newspaper, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Watain Taps Withered, Book Of Black Earth For Tour
July 23, 2008
Prosthetic Records labelmates Withered and Book Of Black Earth are proud to announce their involvement in the upcoming Black Metal Magic Tour later this fall supporting Swedish black metal titans Watain. The tour, sponsored by Metal Maniacs and BeyondTheDarkHorizon.com, will begin in Northeastern Canada in early October, head to the West Coast, then wrap up in early November in Pennsylvania.

Withered will be supporting the band’s recently second album, ‘Folie Circulaire, which has yielded critical acclaim since its June release. Recorded with Kylesa’s Phillip Cope and featuring artwork from Paul Romano (Mastodon, The Red Chord, Trivium), the album is the band’s eagerly-awaited follow-up to 2005’s ‘Memento Mori. Withered will be playing a free Los Angeles show sponsored by Scion and Vice magazine along with Today Is The Day in August as part of Scion’s Metal Show series. The show is free but reservations are required and early attendance is recommended. Fans can RSVP online here.

Meanwhile, Book Of Black Earth will be touring in support of the Oct. 14 release ‘Horoskopus, the band’s second full-length and debut for new home Prosthetic Records. "‘Horoskopus’ is a concept album about the hidden astrological elements of the Christian church,” vocalist / guitarist T.J. Cowgill adds. “From its origins as a state sponsored religion in the fourth century to the present day, it has been guided by astrological concepts conceived centuries before Jesus Christ was mythologized as the ‘Sun’ of God."

Watain was formed in 1998 and have since then released three fullength albums; Rabid Death's Curse in 2000, Casus Luciferi in 2003 and now, in february 2007, the highly acclaimed Sworn to the Dark.

The band has embarked on several European tours through their history with bands such as Dissection, Angelcorpse and Celtic Frost. This together with their extensive list of exclusive gigs and festival-appearances has resulted in Watain becoming globally infamous and highly acclaimed for their blood-drenched performances, being ceremonies of radiant madness and the blackest metal fanatism.

Since the release of Sworn to the Dark in early 2007, Watain has been out on their giant "Fuck the World" reaching through Europe, North America, South America and Mexico. The last dates will be held in USA this fall.

Watain performs Black Metal in it's original form; dangerous, passionate, sinister and magical. Drenched in blood, swept in mystery, shunning no sacrifice. You have been warned.
