The Faceless Prepare For Tour, Comment On New Album
October 18, 2010
Los Angeles based progressive death metallers, The Faceless, have been extremely busy as of late preparing to embark on a massive North American fall tour as direct support to Suffocation while completing work on their much anticipated third full-length release.

Now with the writing process for the new album in full force the group prepares to spend the fall on the road as part of Decibel Magazine's "The Decibel Defiance Tour" featuring Suffocation, Through The Eyes of The Dead, Decrepit Birth and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Michael Keene (guitars) checks in with the following report in regards to their new album and upcoming touring schedule: "After the 'Summer Slaughter' tour wrapped up, we were left with a very refreshing sense of energy and change. It was great to get out and play such killer shows with all of those talented bands and the experience has super charged the excitement of writing new material and pushing ourselves to new musical boundaries as a group and individual musicians/performers.

"The writing process for our upcoming third record is in full swing and it's a very exciting, fulfilling musical journey so far. We'll be debuting a new song on our upcoming tour with Suffocation, which I feel is a great example of the direction in which the new material is headed. Expect a very progressive and vibey record, that maintains the high-energy that you would expect of The Faceless and even more thought provoking lyrical content than ever before.

"We'll be hitting the road in just a few days to wrap-up the touring cycle for 'Planetary Duality'. We'll be locked up in my recording studio in Los Angeles once we get home. You can expect lots of studio updates and blogs along the way. This will be the last tour we'll be doing until we complete the recording of our new record. With that said, we want to make this a special tour for fans who may have seen us on the 'Summer Slaughter' tour. Therefore, we'll be playing more old songs than usual and debuting a brand new song for you! Come and meet us at a merch table and we hope to see you all soon."

Chelsea Grin Land At #21 On Billboard Heatseeker's Chart
February 25, 2010
Salt Lake City Deathcore upstarts, Chelsea Grin, debuted at #21 on the Billboard New Artist Chart this week. The band moved over 1,500 copies of their debut full-length 'Desolation Of Eden' which was released last week on Artery Recordings. Chelsea Grin is the premiere artist on Artery, which is a new imprint of Razor & Tie Entertainment. The band is currently on tour with The Red Chord as well as Mychildren Mybride and Those Who Lie Beneath.

Guitarist Jaek Harmond comments from the road, "The tour is going great! We have had handful after handful of problems with our van, but the shows themselves are awesome. The experience touring with The Red Chord is doing us very well. They are teaching us a lot, and we definitely have noticed WAY more fans. We are very happy with the first week sales as well. We beat the original goal we had set and know we can do even better next time. We aren't happy settling on any number."

The band has also been making waves with media including a new review on AlternativePress.com which proclaimed of the band's music, "The rhythms aren't so much blast beats as tribal throbs, and the riffs come in slow like bombers above an unsuspecting city pre-dawn. The guitar solos aren't spurts of fretboard overstimulation; they're almost the opposite, slow-burning interludes of relative peace not unlike those played by Meshuggah's Fredrik Thordendal." Noisecreep.com (AOL Music) ran a feature as well saying, "The music on the band's debut, 'Desolation of Eden,' is just as street-fight vicious (as their name)."

Next up for the band is a national tour with Xtian metallers Impending Doom and Through The Eyes Of The Dead from April 9 to May 7. A full list of dates is available below.

Despised Icon Post New Video Online, Announce Fall Tour
September 18, 2009
Brutally intense, unrelenting and outright savage are just a few ways the metal community will describe the new offering from Montreal’s hottest export Despised Icon as their new full-length effort, 'Day of Mourning' is a true lesson in violence. This unrelenting new offering is set for a Sept. 22nd release.

The group recently shot a new conceptual video for the album’s vicious title track, “Day of Mourning,” and it’s definitely not your traditional metal video clip. The video was shot with famed Montreal hip hop video producers, Kartel Film. Expect to see cemetaries, fancy cars, 40 ozs, scene sluts and a double dose of brutality. Head over now to www.myspace.com/despisedicon, or simply scroll down to check it out.

All of you DI fanatics out there can rejoice as the band will be embarking on a massive North American headlining tour this fall with Through The Eyes of The Dead, ABACABB and Molotov Solution. This Lambgoat.com sponsored “Day of Mourning Tour” kicks off on Sept. 25th in Grand Rapids, MI so be sure to either see below or visit the band’s newly revamped MySpace page in order to view their complete touring itinerary.

The material contained on this disc should come bearing a caution label stating “Is known to evoke extreme, erratic and violent tendencies coupled with a desire to kill.” The dichotomy of the dual vocal assault of Alex Erian and Steve Marois adds depth and dynamic that few bands can attempt to replicate. The addition of new bassist Max Lavelle quickly proved his skills keeping up with the maniacal drumming of Alexandre Pelletier who delivers his most impressive performance yet, raising the bar for his peers within the genre. Longtime guitarist Eric Jarrin and newcomer Ben Landreville round everything out with a blistering, frenetic barrage of cut-throat riffs.

Despised Icon
brought on board an all-star team for the 'Day of Mourning' recording process. They joined back up with longtime producer (and former guitar player) Yannick St-Amand for all tracking duties with renowned producer Andreas Magnusson (Black Dahlia Murder, Born of Osiris) entering the fold to mix the effort, with mastering being handled by Alan Douches (Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Nile).

August 14, 2009
Brutally intense, unrelenting and outright savage are just a few ways the metal community will describe the new offering from Montreal’s hottest export Despised Icon as their new full-length effort, 'Day of Mourning' is a true lesson in violence. Alex Erian
(vocals) further comments: “The ‘Thrash and Burn’ tour is almost halfway done already. Thanks to everyone that came out so far. The shows are huge. We’ll be back on a massive headlining North American run in the fall with our new record in hand. We’ll be sharing the stage with our homies in Through The Eyes Of The Dead, ABACABB and Molotov Solution. We haven’t played with any of those dudes since 2007. Can’t wait to meet up again and destroy a town near you! We’ll be playing a bunch of cities that were skipped on ‘Thrash and Burn’ so come hang out.

“Also, we want to say thanks to everyone that checked out our new song ‘MVP’ on our MySpace. Your support and encouragement means a lot to us. We recently shot a video for the record’s title track ‘Day Of Mourning’ with famed Montreal hip hop video producers Kartel Films. Expect to see cemeteries, fancy cars, 40’s, hot bitches and a double dose of brutality. Trust us, the video rules! We’ll post the new song, along with pics and a making of the video soon.

“Our new MySpace layout is finally online. It has plenty of cool new features. We hope you like it. Also, for all you extreme drummers out there, we’re getting ready to launch www.alexgrind.com in a couple of weeks. The site will be packed with drum clips, pics and news from the beast known as Alex Pelletier. This man isn’t human. We look forward to seeing you all soon.”

Biography
MEMBERS:
Nate Johnson - Vocals
Justin Longshore - Guitar
Chris Anderson - Guitar
Jake Ososkie - Bass
Josh Kulick - Drums

In a time where countless bands rely on the tried and true right hand path of conventionality, convenience and commercially viable song structure, along comes South Carolinas THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD to breathe some (arguably) much needed life into modern metal. Malice, the bands latest effort, shows THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD showcasing a more brutal, violent and focused aural attack than many listeners may have expected.

With new frontman Nate Johnson (ex-Premonitions of War) firmly in tow, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD have constructed a brutally heavy record, worthy of Johnsons guttural and deep growling onslaught and already established extreme credentials. Pairing a more death metal sound, thanks to mature riffing and frantic drumming, along with Johnsons vocal repertoire has given the band new life; where many bands opt for a more mature or melodic sound as time passes them by, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD has done the complete opposite. Heavier, faster and more extreme are the new dictators here.

And why not? Considering the band enlisted the skills of Erik Rutan (ex-Morbid Angel, Hate Eternal) to record Malice, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEADs progression into the territory of unabashed death metal with hints of guitar-driven melody and plenty of double bass, one could say the move was an aptly-timed shift into heavier waters. The follow-up to 2005s Bloodlust, Malice builds upon the solid - and dedicated - fan base the band established while headlining small venues, hitting the road with the likes of Children of Bodom, God Forbid and Sounds of the Underground 2006, as well as ultimately concluding the records cycle with a vastly successful headlining tour in the winter of 2006, now is the time that THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD establishes itself as a band that will be around for awhile; not just another flavor of the week.
