Beneath The Massacre Recaps Euopean Tour, Plans Another
January 27, 2009
Road warriors Beneath The Massacre, whose recently released technical death opus 'Dystopia' debuted at #22 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, kicks off another North American tour this week. The "Montreal Assault" tour, which will see the band play alongside Despised Icon, Carnifex, The Plasmarifle and labelmates Neuraxis, continues through March 1, after which BTM will headline two weeks of shows in Eastern Canada.

"We're all very excited to participate in the 'Montreal Assault' tour, and more importantly, Despised Icon’s first headlining tour in the U.S.," says vocalist Elliot Desgagnes. "They’ve been good friends of ours for years and always supportive of our band, and we feel privileged to go on that tour as direct support."

After "Montreal Assault," BTM – who kicked off their new record cycle with a Canadian tour alongside Necrophagist (Summer Slaughter Canada) and an American trek with Suicide Silence – will then return to Europe for the just-announced "Thrash and Burn" tour, co-headlined by Bleeding Through and Darkest Hour. BTM just returned from a month-long European tour alongside Cryptopsy, and the band looks forward to heading overseas once again.

"Being our biggest influence when we first started to play death metal years ago, it was amazing to share the stage and bus with the crazy guys in Cryptopsy," Desgagnes says. "Although we both come from Montreal, it was the first time we were getting to hang out with them and it was great. We also got to play with none other than Entombed! All and all, it was a great tour and were proud to have been on it.

"The two first times we went to Europe," he continues, "we were on straight-up death metal bills with bands like Misery Index and Cryptopsy. We feel that we'll be playing in front of a different crowd this time around, so we're stoked and a little anxious at the same time – but I believe BTM fans will be at the shows in big numbers, and we'll be able to turn the crowd into our own."

Despised Icon: New DVD, Upcoming U.S. Tour
December 2, 2008
Since their beginnings in 2002, Montreal’s Despised Icon have established themselves as one of the most ferocious bands in the genre. Most recently, the band brought their intense live show to venues across the nation as part of the Summer Slaughter Tour. Now these crushing Canadians have unveiled plans for their first-ever DVD release, entitled 'Montreal Assault'. The DVD, which will be released in North America on January 27th, features the band as they treked across Canada during their 2008 headlining tour.

In support of the 'Montreal Assault' DVD, Despised Icon will be hitting the road in Jan. 2009 for their first North American headlining stint. Supporting the band during this tour will be Beneath The Massacre, Carnifex, Neuraxis and The Plasmarifle. Be sure to catch the band on this tour and be on the lookout for a new offering from Despised Icon in 2009!

Vocalist Alex Erian comments: “We had so much fun on the Summer Slaughter tour so we recently decided to book one last U.S. tour in February before entering the studio! This will be our first time headlining the U.S. Finally we’ll be able to play a long ass set, covering all 3 DI records. You can also expect to hear a new song or two on there. Instead of saying my usual ‘we’re stoked for tour’ comment, I’d like to take a few extra seconds to thank all our American fans for supporting us throughout the years. We’ve been extensively touring your country for close to four years already and none of this would have been possible without your help and encouragement. You guys have seen us evolve as a band and as individuals. I don’t give a fuck how cheesy this sounds, thank you all. Later guys.”

The DVD features a stellar, multi- camera shoot from the band’s sold-out hometown show, alongside a new hour long documentary and all of the band’s promotional video clips. Head over now to www.myspace.com/despisedicon to check out the live version of the track “The Ills of Modern Man” and to view the DVD’s striking artwork.

The Montreal Assault Tour Hits The U.S. In February
November 29, 2008
The Montreal Assault Tour, which features headliners Despised Icon, will hit the U.S. this coming February. Support on the bill will come from fellow Canadians Beneath The Massacre, Neuraxis, and The Plasmarifle, along with U.S. deathcore upstarts Carnifex. Despised Icon has posted the following update regarding the upcoming tour on their Myspace page:

"Oh yeah! We'll finally be back in the US in February with our brothers in Beneath The Massacre, Neuraxis and The Plasmarifle! We all grew up around Montreal, went to the same shows when we were younger and even shared bands in the past so this tour is gonna be killer! Since this a US tour, we decided to invite our buddies in Carnifex along for the ride. We just completed a European tour with those dudes, had an awesome time and can't wait to hang out some more!

This will be our 15th and last tour in support of 'The Ills Of Modern Man' and our first time headlining the US. Finally, we’ll be able to play a long ass set, covering all 3 DI records. You can also expect to hear a new song or two on there. Instead of saying my usual “we’re stoked for tour” comment, I’d like to take a few extra seconds to thank all our American fans for supporting us throughout the years. We’ve been extensively touring your country for close to 4 years already and none of this would have been possible without your help and encouragement. See you guys in February!"

A Message To U.S. Fans From (the) Plasmarifle
October 26, 2008
Montreal tech-deathcore metallers, (the) Plasmarifle, have posted the following message, aimed specifically at their U.S. Fanbase, on their Myspace page:

"If you guys really want to see us play in the U.S. or would like to see us on a U.S. tour, we strongly encourage you to purchase our album. Our record label and booking agents will have a very hard time justifying putting us on a U.S. tour and paying for working papers if they do not have a credible reason for believing that you guys want to see us play in the U.S.

This is not a threat or a cheap ploy to get you to buy our album and to get you to fill up the pockets of rich record executives and nameless corporations. This is simply a fact of life.

For two years now you guys have been asking us to come play the U.S.A. Please back up your words and show our label that you guys truly do want us there.

Click here to go to the Ferret online music store. If you don't believe in buying albums, the please disregard this message. This message is aimed at people that would truly like to see us play the U.S.A.

(the) Plasmarifle's debut full length, 'While You Were Sleeping, The World Forever Changed In An Instant', is available now via Siege Of Amida/Ferret Records.

For more information, tour dates, and to hear tracks from the new album, head on over to www.myspace.com/plasmarifle.

Biography
YEAR FORMED: 2005
HOME TOWN: Montreal, Canada
MEMBERS:
Maynard - Vocals
Oli - Guitar
Seb - Bass
Sean - Drums
Ben - Guitar

Inspired by innovative, brutal music, (the)PLASMARIFLE are here to contribute a unique sound to the world. It  began when Oli, Jade and Maynard, each with his own
musical background but all from the extreme underground Montreal music scene, combined their efforts to take the music scene by force. Their natural chemistry seemed like a match made in heaven. United by the same vision, it took only days to unleash a brand new sound with a recording available solely on myspace.com.

A few months later Sebastien and Fred joined the ranks of (the)PLASMARIFLE. Driven by the same need for extreme music, each of their uncompromising personalities added a distinct flavor to the band. Their strength and perseverance molded perfectly into the already tight unit.

In December, (the)PLASMARIFLE parted ways with its drummer, Jade. A hard decision but necessary if the band was to go to the next level and if Jade was to pursue his other projects (Hate Eternal/Camilla Rhodes). A critical gap needed to be filled. The man to undertake the task was Sean (Orphans in Coma). In August 2007 (the)PLASMARIFLE parted ways with Fred. Ben Landreville (Orphans in Coma/Camilla Rhodes) Started filling the void at shows. There was in instant connection between us in vision and passion. The new lineup is confident that this change will improve upon past work and encourage new ideas.

Now, these five individuals, each with his own creative fingerprint and ingrained passion for extreme technical music have set their sights on the world. To muster up every ounce of physical ability, prowess and energy they can and to combine
brutality with good clean fun is their goal; both while writing music and playing live.
