The Acacia Strain are extremely excited to head out with some of today's top metal and hardcore acts out in support of their newest record on Prosthetic Records. In typical The Acacia Strain fashion, the guys plan to bring the fun each night by hanging out at their merch table thirty minutes after doors to meet the fans and socialize. There will be a special tee shirt available for purchase only during this time in addition to all their new tour merchandise. If you are in the Holyoke, MA area on the 20th of November, be sure to come out to the Waterfront Tavern as this show will be a benefit for a dear friend of the band who recently passed away due to a decade long battle with cancer.

Biography
YEAR FORMED: 2007
HOME TOWN: Indianapolis, Indiana
MEMBERS:
Jonathan Carpenter - Vocals/Keys
Robby Baca - Guitar
Cameron Maynard - Guitar
Chris Tilley - Bass
Joey Baca - Drums

Bass drops and bottom heavy open chords that resonate long and strong enough to shake the core of the earth. Skyrocketing bursts of oscillating guitar leads layering an ominous and dark undercurrent of rhythm. While hardcore punk may be the sound that rules the day in The Contortionist hometown of Indianapolis, it is the bands signature brand of forward thinking heavy metal that has made them stick out as hometown favorites. The band worked to earn a loyal hometown following though consistent regional shows, coastal touring, and 2 self released EPs. The band clearly began to define their sound and grow as musicians on their most recent work titled "Apparition".

The songwriting and progression on "Apparition" smacks of a group of musicians who are locked deeply into a remarkable place of expression and musicianship that is usually reserved for bands with multiple albums under their belt. While it is not uncommon lately for bands in the world of metal to experiment with melody and progression, many times these breaks from the brutal end up sounding forced, too contrived, or way too over the top in shred. What could of been an opportunity for the listener to settle into some depth, winds up being a better opportunity for a bathroom break. What stands out immediately for The Contortionist, is their layering of space and atmosphere is driven by intense sonic emotion and boldness. When they write in a part of ambiance it actually raises the level of the song above the crushing breakdowns and demands the listener stay put for the ride.

More impressive than their ability to write and record such material is how big it all plays live. The rooms seems to expand and fill with spacious tones just in time to be leveled with ferocity. Front man Dave Hoffman stalks every inch of the stage demanding the attention of the audience with his harrowing vocals. The band is razor sharp and nail every bit of nuance their ambitious songwriting offers. It is this ability to dole out their sounds to epic proportions in a live setting that peaked the interest of record label Good Fight Music.

The band had already distinguished themselves to Good Fight with a penchant for creating a distinct style of heavy music that has plenty of room for the listener to breathe and settle into. So in early 2010, shortly after the staff had caught them live, a deal had become imminent.

With the label now in place, The Contortionist have studio time lined up for early spring 2010. The band have secured Unearth's own Ken Susi to be the producer. When asked what drew Ken to the band from a producers standpoint Ken commented "The Contortionist is not your typical/run of the mill band. Lots of bands in this day in age are copy cats or just plain old rip offs of other bands that are currently out now. This is truly an a original band, from the overall look, sound and structure of the songs. I really feel this band has a bright future ahead of them!"

The Contortionist debut Good Fight album is slated for a mid to late summer release with tours all across the US leading up to and surrounding the release.
