Corey Taylor's Holiday SIngle
December 2, 2010

The inimitable COREY TAYLOR, frontman of not one, but two multi-million-selling bands in STONE SOUR and SLIPKNOT, as well as sometime solo artist, is set to release his first solo single, titled “X-M@$” through Roadrunner Records on December 14.

So what’s the real story behind one of the rock genre’s most revered frontmen and a Christmas single?

Taylor explained that “I wrote this song in my kitchen one winter, listening to people bitch about the holidays. Personally, I love the holidays, but they seem to bring on severe stress in most people. So, I wrote this in honor of crotchety, drunken bastards who don't know the difference between a yuletide and a tool shed. Plus, I think it's funny.”

Last month, when a gap arose during the recent Stone Sour UK tour, Taylor hot-footed to Metropolis Studios in London, and tracked the tune in a single afternoon. The lyrics showcase the singer’s sense of humor and irreverence in full force, dispensing a fat dose of jocular stick-poking at those who loathe the holiday season.

However, Taylor’s joviality doesn’t stop with the song words, as he even drops a sneaky ‘Hi Simon!!’ in the single’s fade-out, as a nod to Mr. Cowell and his Xmas-hijacking X-Factor squad in the UK.

You’ll be able to pick up the digital single from all leading digital retailers on December 14. Taylor is donating proceeds from the song’s sales to Teenage Cancer Trust.

You can listen to the song here.

Warbringer To Open For Slipknot In Fresno Today
October 27, 2009
Warbringer have had their tireless work ethic validated once again this week as the legendary Slipknot have chosen the band to open for them tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 27th, at the Save Mart Center Arena in Fresno, CA. Warbringer will be the only opening act that night. This huge announcement comes on the heels of the band being hand picked by Megadeth for select North American dates in December. The band received the news as they were playing headline dates on route to kick off a lengthy U.S. trek with Vader, Decrepit Birth, The Amenta, Augury and Swashbuckle Nov. 4 in Baltimore, Maryland. Be sure to visit to view their complete, rigorous touring itinerary.

John Kevill
(vocals) further states: “To be honest, I never in a million years thought a band as huge as Slipknot would specifically request us to open a show for them and we are beyond excited to have this opportunity. There are already over 4,000 tickets sold so this is easily going to be the biggest show we ever played in the U.S. Unfortunately we'll have to miss Albuquerque to do this and apologize to our fans who've been asking us back. In the meantime, we have almost 2 months of North American shows with Vader and Decrepit Birth and then Megadeth and Suicide Silence before ending the year with 3 headline shows in Hawaii, so the rest of the year is looking completely bad ass. The band’s live performance is better and more lethal than ever before, so we look forward to seeing you all soon."

Trinity Of Terrors Announces Additional Special Guests
October 15, 2009
In what is set to be the biggest, baddest and most gruesome convention to hit Las Vegas, Fangoria's Trinity Of Terrors continues to add to the list of scream-worthy celebrities set to attend the three day event. The multi-media horror event which will take place Halloween weekend had previously announced guest appearances from the likes of John Waters (Pink Flamingos, Seed Of Chucky) and Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Rob Zombie's Halloween) and now the newly announced addition of Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead, Army Of Darkness). Also on the list of terrifying events will be the screening of over a dozen new films including the latest entry in the legendary zombie series from the godfather of modern horror, George A. Romero's "Survival Of The Dead."

Celebrity appearances, signings, screenings, vendors, exhibitors, panel discussions, special FX make-up applications, video gaming, tattooing, collectibles, special VIP parties and more will set the stage for a special Halloween night performance in the Pearl Concert Theater by multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning alternative metal masters, Slipknot.

vocalist Corey Taylor, a self-described horror, comic and action figure geek will surely be walking the convention hall. "I'm stoked!" he said, "When I saw the list of the people that Fangoria was able to get for this, I was stoked out of my mind! We've got everybody from Richard Christy from Death to Tom Savini. We've got Malcolm McDowell! I am in geek heaven right now! ... It's something really special, and it's something that's never been done in Vegas. It's hopefully going to be one of the biggest things that Fangoria's ever done and we've ever done. We get to play on Halloween. It's win-win all across the board."

Fans can check out the newly released Trinity Of Terrors clip that was posted on Slipknot's YouTube page. Tickets are available online at the event's official website and through, as well as all its service locations throughout the Las Vegas area.

Born of the near-desolation of Iowa, Slipknot burst forth from the heartland in 1999 with some of the most awe-inspiring, cathartic rock the world had ever heard. Venting their collective psyche not only through their songs, but also through their masks, their uniforms, their live shows and even their fans and the culture they inhabit, Slipknot hold nothing back. The depth of their expression is matched by that of their musical prowess - this tornado is laser-guided and fellow musicians, critics and the fans know that Slipknot is deadly serious about its art. Thus, after two albums and two DVDs, we come to Slipknot's ultimate expression: VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES).Within the confines, or lack thereof, of VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES) lies a new level of musicianship, achieved through the hard work poured into supporting their self-titled debut and their subsequent No. 1 album, IOWA. Produced by Rick Rubin, Vol 3 not only captures the band's strengths to this point - it sees the spore that is Slipknot exploding in all directions. The songs on this daring effort transcend traditional hard music structure and will surprise the uninitiated with their dynamic appeal. Masterful guitar work, visceral drum beats and a newly-expanded vocal range are highlights of this work that Corey Taylor (#8) calls "both brutal and beautiful." Much of the creative inspiration in evidence on the new album is owed to Rubin and his reputedly haunted mansion, in which the band lived while recording VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES). "You can really feel (the effect of the mansion) on the album. There were ghosts in the machine, in the equipment. Things would freeze, things would loop for no reason at all. It was strange," adds Taylor. Paul Gray (#2) comments on what Rubin brought to the table "Rick brought a huge amount of open mindedness - normally 9 different people trying different things can be tough - Rick got us to just throw all our preconceived notions out the window. He was able to integrate bits and pieces of everyones ideas."The first single from VOL. 3: (THE SUBLIMINAL VERSES), "Duality" is, lyrically, what you might think... we've been through a lot as a band and the lyrics really reflect our maintaining faith and the perseverance of all 9 of us, says Joey Jordison (#1). Duality represents the album well in its unwillingness to compromise the band's rock foundation and its ability to be aurally appealing and melodic at the same time. Other songs of note on the record, Before I Forget and Vermillion underline the statement made by Duality, with their dark melodies and fierce instrumentation. "Before I Forget" is about rising above the bullshit and being a person, not a human. It's about saying what you mean and meaning what you say - taking zero bullshit." adds Taylor, "and Vermillion is a stalker's love song, shot thru his eyes. It's kind of a 'does he or doesn't he' type thing - it's left open for you to decide."Many profess to know numbers 0 - 8 through the cover stories and press interviews. But those who truly know this Des Moines mob know them through their jaw-dropping live sets. Slipknot are one of the few bands working today whose live show transcends the medium - a Slipknot show is an event unto itself. The band are currently headlining the Jagermeister Music Tour in the US, to be followed by a European tour as special guests to Metallica, then headlining the side stage at US Ozzfest this summer. Of this second-stage headline, Gray says It's hard to feel the vibe when your crowd is 200 feet away. This was our chance to get back to connecting with our fans and we're loving it."This time around, the band's look has evolved with their music. New, streamlined masks are a reflection of the changes in who the band members are, as people. Taylor adds The mask-thing started out because we wanted to show another side of ourselves through them We have grown and changed and so have the masks. About that growing and changing, Jordison says A lot of people won't ever understand why we do what we do and the band thrives on that. The record itself represents that feeling of gratitude toward the people that refuse to let us die - the fans themselves. The time away only made us a stronger band and the other projects absolutely had nothing to do with the way this record was made. When all 9 of us combine we only know one sound and that is the sound of Slipknot. The natural order dictates growth and change as constants. Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses) catches one of the most relevant and daring bands in the rock music realm, turning adversity into strength and honing their craft to precision.
