Austin TX’s Single Frame lightly draws on elements of past movements in music (acid, kraut, arena, punk, new wave) and carefully combines them with a distinct, unhinged perception of what rock-n-roll circa 2004 should be. Single Frame displays fine-tuning of a distinct, ultramodern sound on the release of Wetheads Come Running; a concise, microcosmic reflection of the seedy gloss of modern society. Wild and innovative drumbeats, guitars, synthesizers, organs, slides, random electronics, and traffic cone/megaphones combine to create futuristic tensions and historical resolutions. Both the keyboard-driven catch pop melodies of Comm. Jet and Postdaydream Forecast Endeavor lament the dichotomous conditionings juggled as a hi-tech lowlife. The bizarre latenight-cartoon soundtrack stylings of Floral Designs in a Straight Line and I've been to a Party at This House conjure abstract images of faded bright colors an once-sharp edges.
