The Acacia Strain Set To Headline 'Sun Your Bunz' Tour
June 4, 2008
Brutal Massachusetts four-some, The Acacia Strain, are set to leave a nationwide path of destruction as they embark on a month long headlining tour this summer.

The "Sun Your Bunz" tour, which kicks off in Buffalo on May 30th, will run through the end of June, leveling 26 cities along the way. Adding to the onslaught are fellow Massachusetts hardcore veterans, Since the Flood, and Nuclear Blast’s All Shall Perish, who will be along for the duration of the tour. The Warriors (Victory Records) and Eternal Lord (Ferret Music) round out the lineup as they perform on select dates.

"Sun Your Bunz" will finish up on June 29th in Holyoke, MA, just minutes outside The Acacia Strain’s hometown of Springfield, where the band will have their set filmed for an upcoming DVD. The band will then bring the brutality overseas for a European tour with Annotations of an Autopsy and Knights of the Abyss.

"This is the best time of year to tour,” says The Acacia Strain vocalist, Vincent Bennett. “I couldn't ask for a better group of dudes to spend my time on the road with. Excited to see old friends and meet new ones. It is going to be a killer June. Come on out and Sun Your Bunz!"

The Acacia Strain are also gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album, 'Continent', which is due out on August 19th on Prosthetic Records. The band had the opportunity to work with acclaimed producer Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, God Forbid) on the release.

"We don't remember when writing a record felt this good,” explains the band’s guitarist, DL. “'Continent' has something to it that we never really tried before, some uncharted territory, but at the same time still left us room to do what we love doing best. There's a little something for everyone on this one...even that guy."

Bay Area melodic death-thrash titans All Shall Perish have posted the first video studio update online. The Pre-production diary video, which will apparently be the first of several, can be viewed below.

The band have been holed up at Castle Ultimate Studios since early April, working with producer/engineer Zack Ohren (Decrepit Birth, Odious Mortem, Light This City, Embrace The End) on their as yet untitled third studio album. The Acacia Strain Confirms European Summer Tour Plans
April 10, 2008
Massachusetts’ metalcore titans The Acacia Strain have confirmed a return trip to Europe with support from Annotations of An Autopsy and Knights of the Abyss, including a show with Converge, Inegrity and Coliseum in Germany. Heading across the pond in July and August, this marks the band’s first return after offering direct support to Hatebreed in April of 2007 and first set of tour dates after The Acacia Strain’s plans to headlining shows throughout the US on the Sun Your Bunz Summer Tour with support from All Shall Perish, The Warriors, Eternal Lord and Since The Flood.

“I can't even express in words how excited I am for this tour,” frontman Vincent Bennett says. “This is our first time in mainland Europe, so expect some culture shock on both ends. Annotations and Knights of The Abyss both bring devious amounts of heavy, so this should be a tour to contend with. See you in July!”

Meanwhile, The Acacia Strain will enter the studio April 13 with Zeuss (Hatebreed, Shadows Fall, Municipal Waste) at Planet Z Studio to record ‘Continent,’ the follow-up to 2006’s ‘The Dead Walk.’ Again handling artwork will be Paul Romano (Mastodon, The Red Chord, Trivium). Some of the supposed underground kids started claiming we turned rock star just cause we made a video. So says vocalist Chuck Bouley, speaking about the duality of their band growing in exposure with their signing to Metal Blade Records. I love hardcore kids cause they have so much heart but we actually got some flak from kids who dont want to share us with a wider audience now that we are getting out there.  The title of their upcoming album 'No Compromise' is more than a title. Its a definitive statement, regardless of popularity, about this New England quintets outlet for brutal music with no concession to mainstream success. If anything, the new album is even more brutal and faster than 2005s 'Valor & Vengence' (originally released on Trevor Phipps of Unearths Ironclad Recordings in 2003). Each song including the title track, "Strength," and "I Am Revenge" explode like cluster bombs out of the speakers and in the pit. Since The Flood excel at raw, bare-knuckled hardcore with metallic toned guitars, Schwartzenegger sized vocals and full velocity assault drumming. In their sound is the stuff of touchstone bands like Killing Time, Integrity and Agnostic Front who played raw punk hardcore meshed with a ragged metal element.

Speaking on the writing of the new album guitarist Dave Stauble says Our former guitarist Kevin Leary who wrote on the record listens to a lot of sludgy stuff like Entombed and Crowbar and some of those influences worked their way into the new songs. The band rounded out by Rob DeAngelis on bass, Luke Buckbee on drums and new guitarist Dan Haggerty are already playing half of the new album on their current tour with Shai Hulud and 100 Demons. This is the bands first tour in over a year, their last one being a European run with Madball and Sworn Enemy. The band has also shared stages on the road with such groups as All That Remains, Twelve Tribes, Full Blown Chaos and Bury Your Dead. Known throughout New England for their intense stage presence and full on instrumental assault, Since The Flood is a must see act through the east coast.

In the early days it wasnt always smooth. Chuck recalls, Our first two tours were with Integrity and Full Blown Chaos. Integrity broke up the week before the tour started and Full Blown Chaos had to leave the tour halfway through. Were the unknown idiots who decided to play all the dates for ten people a show. Forming in 2002, the band prides themselves in only canceling a handful of shows in that time, though sometimes in the early days they wished they did. With members living in Nashua, NH and Lynnfield, MA, Since The Flood is from the same surrounding area that Unearth, Shadows Fall and All That Remains hail from. We would take every show offered to us or that we could find in New England. We would play to twenty kids sometimes who didnt come to see us and have to get up for work the next day.  The hard work paid off. We would make a name for ourselves in these small towns where bands dont usually play. The next time we would play there the crowd would double as kids talked about us, we noticed our shows were getting more and more intense.

Having a three song demo to their name, fortune would come calling when Stauble filled in on guitar for Unearth on a national tour in 2002. Playing SinceThe Floods demo, Trevor Phipps signed the band shortly thereafter to his new label Ironclad Recordings. 'Valor & Vengence', released in 2003, took the hardcore world from the underground up selling through its print run and being re-released through Metal Blade in 2005. Another champion for the band was Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage who took the band on as their manager. Howard happened to catch us a few years ago at Fat Cats in Springfield, MA Bouley remembers. Right after our set he came up to us and within a month, we were one of the first bands he worked with.

Look for the band to support the upcoming album with a national tour in early 2007.
