Settle The Sky Prepare To Release EP Exclusively Via iTunes
October 25, 2008
Hailing from Ohio this Christian rock outfit has fought their way out of the ordinary by finding a way to twist metalcore and unearth a sound that is all their own. Fusing complex rhythms, classical piano overtures, and of course breakdowns and two-steps, Settle the Sky packs a nice punch in their 6 song EP, entitled 'Now That We're Waiting', recorded and mixed by Joey Sturgis (The Devil Wears Prada, Mychildren Mybride) to be released on Standby Records as an iTunes exclusive on October 28, 2008.

After one listen it is easy to see that their deeps beliefs are at the center of this group’s music. We want everyone who hears us to know that we stand for something more than just music.” says keyboardist JD Merrill. “The darkness in our music is our way of remembering the light we’re given.”

'Now That We're Waiting' Track list:

With influences ranging from Iceland’s Sigur Ros to Necrophagist, and from Petra to With Blood Comes Cleansing, it’s no wonder that Settle The Sky has such a unique sound. This 6 piece metalcore outfit from Ohio is fighting their way out of the ordinary in the metalcore world. Fusing complex rhythms, classical piano overtures, and of course breakdowns and two-steps, STS packs a nice punch in their 6 song EP titled “Now That Were Waiting" to be released in the fall 0f 2008 on Cleveland’s StandBy Records.

Formed in the summer of 2006, Settle The Sky is a name you will want to keep a close eye on. As they continue to grow, so does their sound. With each coming song is a progression of musicianship, experimentalism, and overall songwriting skills.

With a start on church worship teams, it is easy to see that Christ is the center of this group’s music. “Openly proclaiming Jesus’ name on our debut album is something that we wanted to do. We want everyone who hears us to know that we stand for something more than just music.” says keyboardist JD Merrill. “The darkness in our music is our way of remembering the light we’re given.” This band really seems to care genuinely about their fanbase. After each show they invite everyone over to their merch table to talk to them about their beliefs or even challenge or question them.

Staking their claim as more than just musicians, Settle The Sky will not leave you dissapointed. The range in vocals and complex rhythms quickly sways this band from being just another noise in this monotonous genre.
