Rob Zombie: New Movie Announced
September 25, 2010
In an announcement made late last week, Haunted Movies partner Jason Blum unveiled plans for the company's next picture, The Lords of Salem, to be directed by Rob Zombie from a script by Zombie. Set in modern-day Salem, the film involves the demonic return of a 300-year-old coven of witches.

This is the third entry in a new horror slate deal between Haunted Movies and Alliance Films. The first picture to come out of this partnership is Insidious, written and directed by the original Saw team of James Wan and Leigh Whannel, and starring Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne. Insidious recently premiered in the Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival on September 14 and immediately was the subject of a bidding war, which was won by Sony Pictures Worldwide, who will handle the release of the film later this year. The second picture is The Bay, helmed by Oscar-winning director Barry Levinson and currently shooting in South Carolina.

Octane, IM Global's genre arm, is handling international sales on the Haunted Movies slate, including on The Lords of Salem.

Zombie has experienced great commercial success as the writer and director of five feature films, and as one of the defining rock music icons of his generation. He's been nominated for 7 Grammys and has sold over 15 million albums worldwide. His film credits include the cult smash "House of 1000 Corpses" (Lionsgate 2003) and its landmark sequel "The Devil's Rejects" (Lionsgate 2005), the animated film "The Haunted World of El Superbeasto" (Film Roman 2009), and the record-breaking blockbuster re-imagining of John Carpenter's Halloween (Dimension 2007), along with its sequel Halloween 2 (Dimension 2009), which gave new life to the franchise.

Haunted Movies is a partnership between Jason Blum, Steven Schneider, and Oren Peli, the same team behind the box-office phenomenon Paranormal Activity (Paramount 2009) and Paranormal Activity 2 (set for release by Paramount this October).

The Lords of Salem will be produced by Blum, Schneider, and Peli, Zombie, and Zombie's producing partner Andy Gould. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik will executive produce.

Zombie currently is about to embark on a three week tour of debauchery with Alice Cooper on The Halloween Hootenanny Tour with special guests Murderdolls. ROB ZOMBIE’S FIRST LIVE ALBUM FEATURES CONCERT PERFORMANCES OF SONGS FROM HIS ENTIRE CAREER; FROM “BLACK SUNSHINE” AND “MORE HUMAN THAN HUMAN” TO “LIVING DEAD GIRL,” NEVER GONNA STOP” AND “LORDS OF SALEM”

The long-awaited first live album from Rob Zombie has arrived. A brain-bashing, soul-shaking sonic earthquake, Zombie - Live (Geffen Records/UMe), released October 23, 2007, in both clean and explicit versions, spans songs from the hard rocker’s entire career.

Recorded in 2006 during the tour supporting the Educated Horses album, which hit #5 on the Pop chart, Zombie Live finds Zombie leading a supercharged band featuring guitarist John 5, bassist Piggy D, drummer Tommy Clufetos and was produced by long-time co-writer and producer Scott Humphrey.

Zombie – Live includes the concert’s renditions of the Best Hard Rock Performance Grammy-nominated “Thunder Kiss ‘65” and “Black Sunshine” from White Zombie’s 1992 major label debut La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1, which went Top 40 and double platinum. “Super Charger Heaven,” “Creature Of The Wheel” and “More Human Than Human,” also Grammy nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance, were first heard on White Zombie’s 1995 Top 10, double platinum Astro-Creep: 2000 Songs Of Love, Destruction And Other Synthetic Delusions Of The Electric Head.

From Rob Zombie’s 1998 solo debut, the Top 5, triple platinum Hellbilly Deluxe: 13 Tales Of Cadaverous Cavorting Inside The Spookshow International, are “Superbeast,” “Living Dead Girl,” “Demonoid Phenomenon” and “Dragula.” Songs from 2001’s Top 10 and platinum The Sinister Urge are “Demon Speeding,” “Dead Girl Superstar” and “Never Gonna Stop (The Red Red Kroovy).” The latest songs hail from Educated Horses: “Sawdust In The Blood,” “American Witch,” “Let It All Bleed Out” and “Lords Of Salem.” Heard too are the title songs from the first two feature films directed by Zombie, 2000’s cult smash hit House Of 1000 Corpses and 2004’s critically acclaimed The Devil’s Rejects.

Rob Zombie will unleash his terrifying remake of the classic film Halloween on August 31, 2007, premiering on more than 2000 screens. Zombie, who previously wrote and directed The Devil’s Rejects (2000) and House Of 1000 Corpses (2004), offers an entirely new take on the highly successful series of Halloween films that began in 1978. As a recording artist Rob Zombie has sold over 15 million albums worldwide and continues to be one of Geffen Record’s top selling artists.

The DVD companion to Zombie – Live will be available in the Spring of 2008 and will include bonus footage.
