Disturbed Announce 2nd Stage Line Up For 'Music As A Weapon'
February 16, 2009
Multi-platinum hard-rock band, Disturbed, announces the lineup for the second stage of its Music As A Weapon IV Tour—a music, tattoo, and lifestyle festival—presented by Samsung Mobile and powered by Sprint. Suicide Silence, Spineshank, Bury Your Dead, Crooked X, Born of Osiris, and After the Burial are confirmed to perform on The Ernie Ball Second Stage, which will be officially sponsored by multi-city battle of the bands organization, Headbang For the Highway.
Disturbed will be joined on the 38-city, nine-week trek, which kicks off March 20th in Madison, WI, by Killswitch Engage, Lacuna Coil, and Chimaira on the main-stage. Suicide Silence joins the tour on March 29th, while Bury Your Dead join on March 31st. Both bands appear through the end of the tour. Born of Osiris and After the Burial will appear from March 20th through March 28th. Spineshank and Crooked X will perform on all dates.
Headbang For The Highway have teamed up with Music As A Weapon IV to offer local bands the ultimate opportunity: a spot performing on The Ernie Ball Second Stage. Two unsigned regional acts will open the show in each city the tour visits. These acts will be determined by who wins the battle of the bands competition in each city. Bands can sign up to enter at www.myspace.com/headbangforthehighway, where they will be judged by music industry professionals.
Headbang For the Highway was launched by Sumerian Records in conjunction with Outerloop Management & Millen White Zelano & Branigan to give unsigned bands the chance to win thousands of dollars in cash, music videos, and merchandise printing, as well as to showcase for some of the best labels, managers, and agents in the business. Multiple winners who traveled from all around the country to the 2007 nationwide finals competition (which took place at the 2nd Annual California Metalfest with Testament and Suicide Silence in Santa Ana, CA) won tours and landed record deals.
The Chicago quartet Disturbed conceived Music As A Weapon in 2001 and have headlined the previous three tours. For the first time, the tour has been expanded into a complete lifestyle festival. In addition to presenting the best in rock music, Music As A Weapon IV also features a collection of the greatest tattoo artists from around the country offering their talents to attendees in each city, including the world-famous Oliver Peck (seen on Miami Ink and Bam's Unholy Union on MTV), Las Vegas' Hart & Huntington Tattoo Company (founded by freestyle motocross legend Carey Hart). Attendees will also be able to check out an extreme sports zone, where Skate teams will perform, a Technology and Gaming Zone, and a Vendor Village, all for a fan-friendly ticket price.
" Ernie Ball Music Man, the world's leader in premium American-made instruments and strings, are taking their state-of-the-art mobile stage across the nation" says Brian Ball, Sr VP of Ernie Ball Company. "Featuring the best up-and-coming metal acts, the stage will be a surefire hit during this spring's largest lifestyle music festival."

Lacuna Coil Announce Release Date For 'Shallow Life'
February 12, 2009
Italy’s greatest musical export, Lacuna Coil, are set to return with the massively anticipated, new full-length release, 'Shallow Life', which is set for an April 21st North American release. The album was recorded with acclaimed producer Don Gilmore ( Avril Lavigne, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam) at the famed NRG Studios in Los Angeles. This new effort is another huge step forward in the band’s continuous evolution and marks their first full-length since 2006’s 'Karmacode' and promises to be well worth the wait. It has been years since an artist came along that could redefine a genre, but this group has the potential to do just that. This is the next big thing.
Fans can now rejoice as Lacuna Coil are looking to debut some new material on this spring’s “ Music As A Weapon IV” festival. Lacuna Coil joins such hard rock titans as Disturbed and Killswitch Engage on the road beginning March 20th, crisscrossing the U.S. before finishing May 16th. The 38-city “ Music As A Weapon IV” fest marks the group’s first run of North America in almost two years. Feel free to visit http://www.musicasaweapon4.com/News.aspx or www.myspace.com/lacunacoil for all news updates and to view the tour’s itinerary.
Cristina Scabbia (vocals) states: “ 'Shallow Life' is a natural metamorphosis from within the band; we explored different musical territories while maintaining our own style. A mix of old and new, fast and slow and light and dark. The album production is incredibly powerful and has a beautiful purity to it. Hopefully listeners will feel the same sort of connection that we have to these songs. It would be great to think that we have produced songs that will make anybody either think, smile or cry. 'Shallow Life' has forced us to challenge ourselves. It represents the way we see ourselves in the days we live in through truth, love and lies.”
Andrea Ferro (male vocals) adds: “We are thrilled to be involved in what will surely be an amazing tour, a great event of rock n' roll culture! We're really happy to get back on the road in the U.S. after a long time. The new songs in the rehearsal room sound awesome and we're looking forward to play some for you. We hope to see you all soon.”
There is no better indication that greatness can be achieved through a resilient work ethic than with Lacuna Coil, whose aggressive touring and extensive critical praise have now poised them for mainstream domination. The group initially left their mark on the hard rock scene in 2004 with their acclaimed album, 'Comalies', which opened several opportunities for them that were previously thought unattainable for an Italian band, such as two highly successful commercial radio campaigns alongside a breakthrough Ozzfest appearance resulting in over 500,000 copies sold worldwide with over a quarter of a million in the U.S. alone.

Music As A Weapon IV Details Announced
January 28, 2009
Fresh off their headlining North American tour in support of their platinum album 'Indestructible', Grammy-nominated hard-rock band Disturbed will launch the Music As A Weapon IV Tour—a music, tattoo, and lifestyle festival—presented by Samsung Mobile and powered by Sprint.
Although the Chicago quartet conceived Music As A Weapon in 2001 and have headlined the previous three tours, this is the first time that it has been expanded into a complete lifestyle festival. Attendees will also be able to check out an extreme sports complex where freestyle motocross, BMX, and Skate teams will perform, a Technology and Gaming Zone, and a Vendor Village, all for a fan-friendly ticket price.
"We really wanted to make sure fans attending Music As a Weapon this year got the most bang for their buck," says Disturbed frontman David Draiman, "so we decided to bring in the tattoo artists, the extreme sports complex, the gaming, and the vendor village to go beyond the usual live music experience and give the concerts the feel of a true event. Our feeling in expanding the festival was to give people maximum entertainment value. If they are going to part with their hard-earned money, we need to honor that and give them our all in return."
Disturbed will be joined on the 38-city, nine-week trek, which kicks off March 20th in Madison, WI, by Killswitch Engage on the main-stage, as well as Lacuna Coil, Chimaira, and other acts to be announced on the second stage.
The Music As A Weapon IV Festival will begin at 2PM daily in every city.
