Oceano Debuts On Billboard Hard Music, Heatseekers Chart
April 16, 2009
From their humble beginnings playing basements and skate parks, Chicago deathcore upstards, Oceano, have come a long way. In 2009 alone, Oceano has been praised all across the metal press and become a #1 MySpace band. Finally, after months of buildup and great effort, the band can now add "Billboard-charting act" to their long list of accomplishments.

Released last Tuesday (April 7th), Oceano's debut album, 'Depths', sold 2,464 copies nationwide, a highly respectable number for a debut death metal act in 2009. The band's total sales unit figures were enough to catapult them onto Billboard's Hard Music Albums (Core Stores) and Heatseekers charts at numbers 7 and 16 respectively. The band is flanked by an impressive array of artists on the 2 charts. Bands like Mastodon, Lamb Of God, Metallica and even Led Zeppelin are among the company that Oceano is keeping on their chart debut.

Guitarist Andrew Mikhail reflects on his band's great accomplishment:

"Honestly, its a acheivement that I thought would never happen specially for an underground "death" band like ourselves. Nonetheless, it is still very exciting and shocking to see our band name with greats as Metallica and Led Zeppelin."

Check out the band's video for the track "District of Misery" below.

In the April 4th edition of Billboard magazine, Oceano was featured in the "Happening Now" section devoted to artists on the rise. In the sizable piece, Billboard writer Christa Titus explored the circumstances surrounding Oceano becoming one of the most hotly buzzed young metal bands today. The feature also includes quotes from Oceano guitarist, Andrew Mikhail and Earache U.S. Label Manager, Al Dawson who go beyond the hype and prove that beneath the angry exterior lies
a hard working and extremely talented band who've earned every bit of buzz that has followed them. Oceano's "Happening Now" feature can be seen in full at this location.

All Shall Perish Issue Update In Their Own Words
February 6, 2009
Oakland, CA's extreme metal titans, All Shall Perish, have issued the following statement via the band's Official Myspace Page:

"Fuck Official Press Releases!

Guys if you want the offical press release go to lambgoat. I felt you guys needed a special touch as our friends.

Im not going to lie to you...being in a band is fucking hard. We have always compared it to a 5 way polyamorous gay marriage; and if you think you have it hard with your significant other, try having 4 who all are as different as the village people (except we are all actually gay).

Anyways, what im getting at is that there is no easy way to explain this stuff other than it's no different than being in a relationship. Sometimes things build up, and sometimes you grow apart. Like some people have said on the comments...we are not breaking up and are still going to shred your faces off live with our new guitar player who will silence all critics VERY soon. You guys know we don't write the same record twice, and we weren't going to with Chris or anyone. We will cum in your ear pussies soon enough to show you what we mean.

You guys are our life's blood. Without the live show, without you guys supporting us we are nothing, and we owe our existence to you all; I promise we will not disappoint you guys in any way shape or form. If I had any doubt I would not be here. I hate to break it to yall, but there is no real money in this. We all gave up school, loved ones etc., to go make music we love on the road for ourselves and anyone else who wanted to come along for the ride. We love all you guys for supporting us in doing what we love and we will give you back nothing but 666% .

Thanks, and we will see you on the roooooaaaaad!"

Veil Of Maya Kick Off Tour, Announce Member Change
January 24, 2009
Chicago's extreme tech metallers, Veil Of Maya, just kicked off their co-headline "Crush Em All Tour" with After The Burial, ABACABB and Conducting From The Grave tonight in Santa Cruz, CA. The tour will run through March 7th, winding down in Minneapolis, MN. Check out all the tour dates below or on the bands Myspace page.

The band also has some important news for their fans…VOM's original bass player, Kris "The Higler", has decided to part ways with the band. Kris decided to part ways to pursue other things going on in his life. There are no hard feelings between them what so ever as the band wishes him all the best to whatever he pursues next in life.

Ex-Born Of Osiris Guitar player and long time best friend Matthew Pantelis will take the position as the new full time bass player in the band. Here's what Matt had to say about joining Veil Of Maya: "As far as any of you are concerned... I used to be in a band with (Vocalist) Brandon for some time that used to jam along side with Veil around Chicago. So when I found out that Kris split, I was enthralled to help out my buddies!

Bass is sick and being with good friends of mine all the time is even more amazing. But the best part is making the change up permanent. Upon all that being said, the next album released by us will mask you. Come say hi at "The Crush Em All Tour", and Marc, Sam, Brandon and I will teach everyone how to say Veil of Maya!"
