Biography
YEAR FORMED: 1994
HOME TOWN: Seattle, WA
MEMBERS:
Warrel Dane (vocals)
Jeff Loomis (guitar)
Steve Smyth (guitar)
Jim Sheppard (bass)
Van Williams (drums)

Seattle's NEVERMORE welcome you to This Godless Endeavor, a grand overture where musical tapestries are fascinatingly complex while entirely accessible. Rising in 1994 from cult metal band Sanctuary's ashes, they released acclaimed early albums Nevermore (1995), the In Memory EP (1996), The Politics Of Ecstasy (1996), and Dreaming Neon Black (1999), recorded by producer Neil Kernon (Judas Priest, Queensryche). The band were joined by guitarists Pat O' Brian (now of Cannibal Corpse) on the two 1996 releases and Tim Calvert (ex-Forbidden) for their 1999 conceptual masterpiece. Dead Heart In A Dead World (2000), produced by Andy Sneap (Opeth, Machine Head), moved Loomis' “skin-flaying” guitar work to the production's forefront, while tireless world touring turned songs “Narcosynthesis” and “Inside Four Walls” into anthemic fan favorites. Followed by Outburn Magazine's “must have album of the year,” 2003's Enemies Of Reality, produced by Kelly Gray (Queensryche/Brother Cane), showcased “opuses that often reach dark symphonic peaks” ( Guitar One). Throughout their recording career NEVERMORE have shared the stage with metal's elite including Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom, Death, Dimmu Borgir, Iced Earth, King Diamond, and Opeth and have performed at Europe's largest rock festivals including the infamous Dynamo and prestigious Wacken Open Air. Recorded at England's Backstage Studios (Arch Enemy, Killswitch Engage), once again with producer Andy Sneap, This Godless Endeavor captures “the most ripping guitar work we've recorded,” says vocalist Warrel Dane. Marking his NEVERMORE recording debut, guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-Testament/Dragonlord) joins core members Dane, Jeff Loomis, Jim Sheppard, and Van Williams. Hugh Syme (Rush, Megadeth) provided stark album artwork, which according to Dane, “incorporates our ongoing theme of everyone wearing a mask.” Appearing on the mainstage of Megadeth's Gigantour throughout the summer, NEVERMORE ask you to venture out, to experience the unfathomable, to join them on This Godless Endeavor.
