Behemoth Added To 3 Summer Slaughter Dates
June 4, 2009
Polish extreme metal titans, Behemoth, have been added to 3 select Summer Slaughter dates. The band will perform as a special Guest Headliner for the confirmed dates prior to kicking off their U.S. Summer jaunt as a part of this year's Second Annual Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival.

Behemoth on Summer Slaughter:
7/05 - Starlite - Edmonton, AB
7/06 - The Whiskey - Calgary, AB
7/07 - The Knitting Factory - Spokane, WA

Behemoth, will release their newest album, 'Evangelion', on August 7 via Nuclear Blast in Europe and August 11 via Metal Blade in US.

The track listing for 'Evangelion' is as follows:
01. Daimonos
02. Shemaforash
03. Ov Fire And The Void
04. Transmigrating Beyond Realms Ov Amenti
05. He Who Breeds Pestilence
06. The Seed Ov I
07. Alas, Lord Is Upon Me
08. Defiling Morality Ov Black God
09. Lucifer

'Evangelion' combines a pure art form with a direct message. It was also important for us to ensure that the graphical presentation did justice to the record. Again, we have worked with Tomasz Danilowicz who has created his best illustration yet for Behemoth. The picture is of The Great Harlot of Babylon riding the seven-headed beast. Saints bow before her in worship whilst the tablets of the Ten Commandments lie broken at her feet. It represents our vision and the interpretation of the New Testament parable where the “Whore of Babylon” is a symbol of rebellion and resistance against God.

I am fascinated by stories whose source lies in the Bible and we have used biblical symbolism, coupled with my own experience and outlook, in our lyrics or on the covers of previous Behemoth records. I love to juggle with meanings and play around with symbolism which is exactly what I have done in this case. The main character of our new cover is an archetype of disobedience, individualism, self-determination and a free, unfettered will – these are universal keywords which are typical and crucial in understanding the character of our works, life as a whole and the true nature of man.” Commented Nergal.

"…(…) And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns
." (Revelation 17:1-7).

Darkest Hour: New Record And Tour Dates
April 16, 2009
Darkest Hour, the Washington D.C. powerhouse modern thrash metal quintet, will proudly release their fifth full-length record, 'The Eternal Return', June 23, 2009 on Victory Records. The band tapped producer Brian McTernan (Senses Fail, Thrice, From Autumn to Ashes) and recorded at his Baltimore, MD-based Salad Days Studio. Guitarist Mike Schleibaum comments, “To put it simply, this is a metal record made by dudes who have dedicated half of our lives to aggressive, unrelenting music.”

“It’s been a long road, but we have finally completed work on our new record, 'The Eternal Return',” added Schleibaum. “I am very proud of the hard work and passion that both the band and producer Brian McTernan poured into this. After 14 years, we’ve decided there’s no reason to put out Darkest Hour records other then for ourselves and for the people that love this band. This record has no hidden agenda, no pop hit, or stylistic departure to broaden the fan base. Rather, it is a sick thrash, speed, melodic, metal record! It feels like it has all the aggression and speed of our 'Hidden Hands…' record, the melody and songwriting of 'Undoing Ruin', and the technicality and musicianship of 'Deliver Us'. We encourage anyone who has loved our records in the past or present to check it out. And if you’ve never found something that’s connected with you in a Darkest Hour record before, then take some time to listen to this one, because this is a defining Darkest Hour record… We look forward to playing new songs on our upcoming European tour with Bleeding Through and on this year’s Summer Slaughter Tour! See ya in the pit!”

Fans will surely not be let down by this upcoming album, and prior to its release in the states, Darkest Hour will head over to Europe on the Thrash and Burn Tour (presented by Metal Hammer, Myspace, Metal.de, Fuze and Peta) on a co-headlining stint with Bleeding Through, with support from Beneath the Massacre, Carnifex and more.

The touring machine does not stop there…

Once the band returns to the US, they will head out in support of Necrophagist and Suffocation on the Summer Slaughter 2009 tour (presented by Affliction and Decibel Magazine). Biography
YEAR FORMED: 1992
HOME TOWN: Germany
MEMBERS:
Muhammed Suicmez - Guitar
vocals
Sami Raatikainen - Guitar
Stefan Fimmers - Bass
Hannes Grossmann - Drums

Necrophagist was founded in early 1992 to integrate the fury of grinding, fast Death Metal with progressive music. Shortly after the band formed they entered the studio and recorded their first demo tape entitled Requiems of Festered Gore. Requiems of Festered Gore was never released to the masses as it was sent out solely for promotional reasons in an attempt to help the band secure gigs.

In 1995, Necrophagist re-entered the studio and recorded a self-titled, follow-up demo. The demos impact sent shock waves through the European underground Death Metal scene, which helped Necrophagist not only establish their gruesome name, but allowed the band to play numerous shows all over Europe...Soon Necrophagist was recognized as one of the leading bands in the growing underground progressive/technical Death Metal scene.

In 1999, Necrophagist recorded their self-released, full-length debut Onset of Putrefaction. Despite the limited number of copies that were made, Onset of Putrefaction only solidified the growing reputation that Necrophagist had started with their self-titled demo. Soon, Necrophagist became the standard for progressive Death Metal. Uniting influences from different styles, including classical music, Onset of Putrefaction showcased Necrophagists demanding dexterity, inhuman brutality and fury. With Onset of Putrefaction Necrophagist reanimated the brutal Death Metal genre that many had left for dead. Onset of Putrefaction actually became an influence for hordes of young musicians and fledgling European Death Metal bands. The overwhelming response to Onset of Putrefaction helped Necrophagist secure highly sought after support slots with such extreme music luminaries as Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death, and Sinister. This attention further blossomed into Necrophagists appearance at numerous festivals, including the Fuck The Commerce in Germany, the legendary Brutal Assault in the Czech Republic and the Maryland Deathfest in the United States.

In 2004, Necrophagist signed to Relapse Records and unleashed Epitaph on a pitiful and unsuspecting world. With Epitaph, Necrophagist pushed the boundaries of technical and progressive Death Metal to new heights, setting an extreme standard by which others will follow. NECROPHAGIST have quite literally gone where no band has gone before...
