Marilyn Manson Crushes $20 Million Claim By Ex Bandmate
December 29, 2009
Marilyn Manson's insurance coverage will pay $175,000 to settle a lawsuit brought against him by a former member of his band, but all of the money will go to the plaintiff's attorney, a lawyer for the goth rocker said today. Stephen Bier, better known by the stage names Pogo and Madonna Wayne Gacy, brought his breach-of contract case in Los Angeles Superior Court in August 2007 against Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner.

Bier
, who was seeking more than $20 million, alleged Manson used money from their former band partnership to buy items ranging from Nazi paraphernalia to a $150,000 engagement ring for ex-wife Dita Von Teese, depriving him of his partnership share. Manson's lawyer, Howard E. King, said Bier will not get any proceeds and that the settlement check will be made payable to Bier's lead attorney to cover the costs of the latter's investment in the case. King maintains the lawsuit never should have been filed. "After being dismissed from the band, Bier could have focused on resurrecting or attempting to pursue a music career,'' King said. "Instead, he devoted the last several years to complaining about Manson's alleged spending habits and extravagant behavior to anyone who would listen.''

''The resolution of the bitterly fought case with Bier receiving nothing for his spurious claims is a complete vindication of Manson,'' the attorney said. The complete resolution of the case is still dependent upon the resolution of a $72,000 lien for attorneys' fees sought by the law firm of Grodsky & Olecki, which was among numerous other named defendants. The potential snag in the settlement came Thursday when Grodsky & Olecki filed a lien for attorneys' fees stemming from their successful effort to persuade Stern to dismiss all of Bier's allegations against them in November 2007. Stern's ruling was upheld by a panel of the 2nd District Court of Appeal on June 4. The firm now wants to be paid from the settlement money. On Friday, Stern scheduled a hearing for Jan. 15 on any further motions regarding the settlement. Grodsky & Olecki represented both Bier and Manson while they were involved in previous litigation involving a third party. The allegations against the firm involved Bier's contention that it breached its duty to him with a "threat letter'' that was "a transparent attempt by Manson to frighten Bier into leaving the band,'' according to the keyboardist's court papers. But Stern agreed with the firm's lawyers that the letter was written in contemplation that Bier might file a lawsuit and was therefore protected.

Marilyn Manson Micro-Site Now Available Online
May 24, 2009
Controversial shock-rocker, Marilyn Manson, has recently released his video for "Arma-Goddamn-Motherf*ckin-Geddon," the first single from his forthcoming album 'The High End of Low'. The video, which was shot with 30-40 cameras yet only contains footage from two of them, is no less shocking than what fans have come to expect from the shock-rocker with fire, narcissism, bikini clad protestors, and a load of F-bombs. With such explicit title and lyrics it is no surprise that Manson has released two versions of the video, clean and dirty, for the viewing audience. You can check out the clean version below. The dirty version is available at this location.

For those looking to hear what else is in store from 'The High End of Low', before the album's May 26th release, a micro-site has been created with a preview from each of the 15 tracks on the record. Check that out at this location.

Job For A Cowboy Completes Work On 'Ruination'
May 3, 2009
Award-winning Glendale, AZ heavy music powerhouse Job For A Cowboy has completed work on its hotly-anticipated sophomore album, entitled 'Ruination'. The record will see a July, 2009 worldwide release date via Metal Blade Records.

The follow up to the quintet’s celebrated debut album 'Genesis', 'Ruination' was recorded at Audio Hammer Productions in Sanford, FL with Producer Jason Suecof (The Black Dahlia Murder) and will be mixed by acclaimed audio authority Fredrik Nordstrom (At The Gates, Opeth). 'Ruination' marks the Job For A Cowboy recording debut of drumming prodigy JonThe CharnRice, who has toured with the band since the release of 'Genesis' and features ten tracks of state-of-the-art heavy metal music.

'Ruination' sees Job for A Cowboy advance by leaps and bounds; the record is a concentrated hotbed of astounding dexterity, scorching attack, sleek arrangement and thundering musical muscle. Infectious riffs, keen dynamics and the assertive vocals of rising star front man Jonny Davy combine to produce an album that is at once powerful, expressive, confident and commanding. The New York Times referred to Job For A Cowboy's sound as “brute-force”, a commendatory claim that 'Ruination' unquestionably validates.

On the topic of the new album, Job For A Cowboy front man Jonny Davy states, “Job For A Cowboy has toured the world and faced a ton of challenges over the course of the last year and a half. All of the hard work that we’ve put in and everything that we’ve experienced is directly reflected in our new songs, which we know are our best yet. Stay tuned.”

Biography
YEAR FORMED: 1989
HOME TOWN: Fort Lauderdale, FL
MEMBERS:
Marilyn Manson (vocals)
Tim Skold (guitar/bass)
Ginger Fish (drums)
Madonna Wayne Gacy (electronics)

Love him or hate him, the self-proclaimed "Antichrist Superstar" Marilyn Manson was indisputably among the most notorious and controversial entertainers of the 1990s. Celebrated by supporters as a crusader for free speech and denounced by detractors as little more than a poor man's Alice Cooper, Manson was the latest in a long line of shock rockers, rising to the top of the charts on a platform of sex, drugs and Satanism. Though widely dismissed by critics, his brand of metal nevertheless struck a major chord with the youth market -- on the strength of a masterfully orchestrated marketing campaign, he became a mainstream anti-hero, much to the chagrin of conservative politicians and concerned parents. Manson was born Brian Warner in Canton, Ohio; at the age of 18, he relocated to Tampa Bay, Florida, working there as a music journalist. In 1989, he became friends with guitarist and fellow outsider Scott Mitchell; they decided to form a band, with Mitchell rechristening himself Daisy Berkowitz and Warner adopting the name Marilyn Manson. With the addition of bassist Gidget Gein and keyboardist Madonna Wayne-Gacy, the group -- originally dubbed Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids -- begin self-releasing cassettes and playing gigs, their Gothic stage show notable for Manson's elaborate make-up and homemade special effects. Jettisioning their drum machine in favor of one Sara Lee Lucas, the band's sound began taking on a harder edge, and by 1992 they were among the most popular acts in the South Florida area. In 1993, Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor came calling, offering both a contract with his Nothing Records label as well as the chance to open for NIN the following spring; Manson accepted both offers, and the group's debut LP, Portrait of an American Family, appeared during the summer of 1994. With new bassist Twiggy Ramirez replacing Gein, the group's notoriety began to soar -- most infamously, during an appearance in Salt Lake City, Manson ripped apart a copy of the Book of Mormon while onstage. The Church of Satan's founder Anton LaVey also bestowed upon him the title of "Reverend."While some onlookers dismissed Manson's behavior as crass audience manipulation, his cult following -- comprised almost entirely of disaffected white suburban teens -- continued to swell, and with the release of the 1995's Smells Like Children EP the band broke into the mainstream, propelled by their hit cover of the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)." Berkowitz quit a short time later, and was replaced by guitarist Zim Zum; their next LP, 1996's Antichrist Superstar, debuted at the number three spot on the pop album charts. As Manson's popularity grew, so did the furor surrounding him -- his concerts were regularly picketed by civic groups, and his music was the subject of widespread attacks from the right-wing and religious fronts. Again, however, his quick embrace of the media spotlight called into question the true sincerity of his revolutionary aims -- with a cover story in Rolling Stone and a best-selling autobiography, The Long Hard Road Out of Hell, some onlookers doubted whether Manson had sold his soul to Satan, or just sold his soul, period. The glam-inspired Mechanical Animals followed in 1998, with the resulting tour yielding the live Last Tour on Earth a year later.
