Journal Hops On Board Team All About The Music's Roster
November 30, 2010
Team All About The Music is proud to announce the addition of ultra-tech metallers, Journal, to their trend setting roster. Residing in Sacramento, CA, Journal's influential 2007 debut, Casualties Of War, garnered the band quite the reputation as a fresh take on progressive / technical metal, and the band began to grow a cult-like following who could not get enough of the extremely infectious Journal.

Now even leagues better on their 2010 debut full length release, Unlorja, the dudes are expanding tech metal into unimaginable dimensions, thinking both musicianship and concept. Calculated to the exact decimal, Journal's jaw dropping math / technical death metal onslaught can be compared to the schizophrenic side of The Dillinger Escape Plan, while equally as much the band’s adventurous prog side can be compared to Dream Theater. The 80 minute long Unlorja is as epic as can be, and surely to make the cut on some of your “Best of 2010” lists! There’s so much detail in Unlorja, that multiple spins are mandatory for this open minded beast. Dive into its greatness now!

Journal On, Nominated For Award
August 1, 2010
Journal shredder Joe Van Houten recently had one of his videos featured on, which is a pretty big deal for an unsigned band to not only get noticed by them, but to have a video end up being featured as well. Of course, one would imagine that a guitar site would have less trolls and more people who can appreciate technical skill, virtuosity and overall stellar musicianship. Instead... well, read the comments left by users of that site, and you'll see what UG has going on. Check it out here. Oh, and while you're watching this, keep in mind that what sets Joe apart from other 'shredders' out there is that he still shreds six. Get Into It!!

In other Journal news, the band has recently been nominated for Best Metal/Hardcore Band of 2010 by Sac Shows Awards. You can get more info on this and submit your vote for Journal as well by heading on over to **You must have an active twitter account to vote, and the account has to have been active prior to when voting began.** For those of you that meet the voting criteria, head on over and put in your vote. Help Journal take this home!!

Journal is also currently looking for a vocalist. Check out their tunes and if you think you have what it takes to fill the position, hit up their Myspace blog and get the deets on how to get in touch.

And of course, for those of you that are still entirely unfamiliar with Journal, jam a few songs below or visit their Official Bandcamp page, and then check out their Official Myspace page at for info, updates, tour dates and more.
