Dethklok Enter Billboard Top 200 At #15
October 13, 2009
Animated Heavy metal juggernauts Dethklok have exploded onto the Billboard Top 200 again with the release of 'Dethalbum II', selling nearly 45,000 copies in its first week. The ferocious new record from the stars of the Adult Swim series Metalocalypse debuted at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 six spots higher then their debut album 'Dethalbum' back in 2007.

Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small had this to say about the chart debut of Dethklok's 'Dethalbum II': "I'm both happy and humiliated that 'Dethalbum 2' reached number 15. Happy because we beat the first 'Dethalbum' numbers and humiliated to have been beaten by our second album numbers by ourselves. Either way we're still not as good as the Archies and I never want to forget that. Having said all of that, dear god I am fantastic and talented."

The September 27 release of Metalocalypse: Dethklok’s 'Dethalbum II' coincides with the start of Season 3 of Metalocalypse on Adult Swim in November. The third season of Metalocalypse will pick up right where Season 2 left off, and this season the episodes will be thirty minutes long.

Be sure to pick up the record-breaking new CD, Metalocalypse: Dethklok's 'The Dethalbum II', and be sure to catch Dethklok live on tour.

Dethklok, Mastodon To Co-Headline Fall Tour
August 5, 2009
This fall, two of the most popular bands in metal will co-headline a 34-city North American tour as the Grammy® Award-winning Mastodon hits the road with Dethklok, the world’s most brutal animated death metal band from Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse.

In one of the most highly-anticipated tours of the year, the Adult Swim Presents Dethklok and Mastodon tour will kick off on October 2 in Portland, Ore. and bring mayhem and destruction to local venues throughout the nation. Adding even more layers to this fall’s top metal tour, Oakland’s High On Fire and Converge will open each show. Ticket pre-sales began yesterday (Tuesday, August 4) at 10:00 AM EST, while the full allotment of tickets will go on sale to the general public starting this Friday, August 7. For more information about the tour including the pre-sale ticket password, price ranges and how to order, please visit www.adultswimpresents.com.

As sponsor for the entire tour, Adult Swim will feature ”Brütal Legend” gaming stations for fans to experience the videogame first-hand, while a two-minute animated content piece, created by Titmouse, will air during each show. Print ads, AdultSwim.com and on-site materials will also feature the videogame as the tour’s key sponsor. “Brütal Legend” is an epic action game from visionary developer Tim Schafer. Jack Black stars as Eddie Riggs, a legendary roadie summoned to a world of Heavy Metal where mountains are made of amplifiers, killer spiders spin guitar strings and Rock Legends roam the landscape. As Eddie, crush skulls with a battle axe, ravage the road in a super-charged Hot Rod and unleash the power of Rock to reign down fire from the sky – all to save humanity and become a Brütal Legend.

Nathan Explosion
, William Murderface, Skwisgaar Swigelf, Toki Wartooth and Pickles – better known as Dethklok – will take to the road in support of the band’s latest CD release from Williams Street Records, 'Dethklok: The Dethalbum II', which will be released as both a standard and deluxe edition on September 29 from Williams Street Records. A limited-edition vinyl of the album will also be released at local record shops starting November 24. Bringing the animated band to life on stage each night will be series co-creator and composer Brendon Small along with an all-star band including the legendary Gene Hoglan, Bryan Beller and Mike Keneally. These real life-musicians will perform live while dark-lit and playing underneath a giant projection screen featuring all-new animation and music videos from Dethklok to create a truly unique concert experience.

Sharing the bill with Dethklok on this seven-week tour is Grammy® Award-winning hard icons Mastodon, who are currently touring Europe and the UK with Metallica. The band’s groundbreaking new album, 'Crack The Skye', was released on March 24, debuting on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #11 to overwhelming international critical praise. Rolling Stone Magazine applauded Mastodon by declaring them as: “The greatest metal band of their generation – no one comes close.” Go to www.mastodonrocks.com or www.cracktheskye.com for more info and updates.

Universally recognized as one of the most potent acts in music today, High On Fire creates “bad-ass” modern metal that merges primal fury and aggression, skyscraping riff explosions and hesher bombast with a monolithic heaviness. Described as “a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume and sheer heaviness,” High On Fire has burned the hard rock rulebook since its formation in 1998, forging a style and sound that is both unique and absolutely crushing. The group features vocalist and cult guitar hero Matt Pike, a founding member of the famed underground band Sleep and one of heavy music’s most charismatic figures. Pike was named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of its “New Guitar Gods.”

Considered one of the most intense, important, and influential metal/hardcore bands ever, Converge will release their anticipated new album, 'Axe To Fall', on Epitaph on October 20th. The release is the follow up to their highly-acclaimed 'No Heroes' album, released on Epitaph in 2006. Though Converge has remained tight lipped about all aspects of 'Axe To Fall', the buzz surrounding the upcoming release already has the rumblings of potential aggressive album of the year.

"Seeing this lineup makes me jealous for the audience,” said Metalocalypse’s Small. “Both myself and my band that doesn't exist are incredibly excited and honored to be a part of it. Furthermore, I see this tour jump-starting the economy and completely reversing the recession. I've said this a thousand times: There is no recession for metal."

Children Of Bodom Debut At No. 22 On Billboard
May 1, 2008
Finnish metal giants Children Of Bodom’s brand new album 'Blooddrunk' skyrocketed to #22 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart recently, shifting over 19,000 units in its first week of sales. Released in North America on April 15 via Spinefarm / Fontana International, 'Blooddrunk' is Children Of Bodom’s sixth studio album, and is the highest charting record in the band’s sales history. 'Blooddrunk’s' first week sales are roughly three times the opening tally of its predecessor, 'Are You Dead Yet?', which premiered with 7,500 units back in October 2005 to land at #195.

'Blooddrunk' also debuted at #2 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart and at #3 on the Billboard Top Hard Rock chart. The Top 25 Billboard debut capped a string of exceptional worldwide charting positions for the band, highlighted by a #1 debut in its native Finland. 'Blooddrunk' also debuted at #7 in Canada, #10 in Germany, #12 in Japan, #19 in Austria, #28 in Sweden and #44 in the UK, solidifying Children Of Bodom’s place as one of the most revered metal bands in the world.

The follow up to the band's acclaimed 2005 release, 'Are You Dead Yet?', 'Blooddrunk' is being called the band's "strongest and most advanced recording to date", featuring a "heavier, darker" take on Children Of Bodom's enthralling mix of modern thrash metal, melodic hooks and the guitar acrobatics of front man and metal guitar hero Alexi Laiho. 'Blooddrunk' was recorded and produced by Mikko Karmila at Petrax and Finnvox studios in Finland. The album's vocals were recorded by Peter Tägtren and keyboards were recorded by Janne Wirman at Finland's Petrax studios.

In addition to CHILDREN OF BODOM’s singular songwriting skills and tireless road efforts, innovative marketing in conjunction with the ESP Guitar Company – who have long partnered with, and endorsed the band – helped to push them to an even larger audience. An extensive marketing campaign promoting both the Blooddrunk album release and the ESP Alexi Laiho LTD AL-600 “Signature Series” guitar reached millions through a creative combination of television, print and internet marketing, live appearances and contests. Laiho is widely recognized as a modern day guitar hero and is one of the premier shredders in metal / hard rock today, drawing praise from both peers and respected guitar publications the world over.

In support of 'Blooddrunk', Children Of Bodom are touring North America as one of the featured acts of "Gigantour 2008." COB was handpicked by Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine to be a part of the 29 city trek, and its preeminent live show has been drawing rave reviews since the start of the tour, particularly after two recent shows at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom and a herculean performance as one of the headlining acts of the 2008 New England Metal & Hardcore festival on April 25.

Matt Pike (vocals/guitar)
Joe Preston (bass)
Des Kensel (drums)

With a heavy-handed approach and a sound that crashes like thunder, HIGH ON FIRE has put the power back in 'power-trio.' Less a band than a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume and sheer heaviness, the band has burned the metal rulebook and forged a new archetype. HIGH ON FIRE was formed by guitarist Matt Pike in late summer 1998; a scant six months after the breakup of his previous band, the enigmatic stoner-metal legend SLEEP. Formed out of the need to simply play guitar again, Pike jammed with settled on a line-up of powerhouse drummer Des Kensel and longtime guitarist friend George Rice, who made the switch to bass to round out the trio. They had scarcely been together for a few months before demo-ing three songs. That demo, featuring "Master of Fists" and instant classics "10,000 Years" and "Blood from Zion," became among the most sought-after tapes in recent hard rock history. So carefully guarded was the recording, that the tape was the source of much speculation based on the odd tales swirling around the later-days of SLEEP and Pike's declarations of wanting to create a metal band even heavier and more aggressive than SLEEP. When the demo surfaced it was immediately clear Pike had succeeded in his goals. Far more direct and concise than its predecessor, HIGH ON FIRE got straight to the point, bashing away with a Neanderthal sense of purpose and creating hypnotic, droning waves of powerful riffs and low-end thunder of the likes not heard before. Before the band had even made their first live appearance, labels flocked to get a piece of the trio. In the end the band chose to record with the Man's Ruin label and the demo surfaced in the form of a mini-CD in early '99, while they continued writing for their debut full-length. That debut, 'The Art of Self Defense,' was recorded in autumn 1999 at Oakland's Sharkbite Studios with Billy Anderson and fell from the sky in March 2000 to an overwhelming response. Offering respite from commercialized rap-metal and warmed-over stoner-rock clichs of the time, 'The Art of Self Defense' served up a rock hard, unorthodox form of modern metal cloaked in strange religious theology. Though easy to pinpoint their influences (SABBATH, CELTIC FROST and other seminal hard-rock outfits), the trio's style was unique, distinct and absolutely crushing. Accolades poured in the world over: Rolling Stone, Spin, GQ, Alternative Press, Magnet, Chicago Sun-Times, The Washington Post, Village Voice and dozens of others publications. Almost overnight, HIGH ON FIRE were the unassuming heroes of the "riff" and the most celebrated metal band on the planet. On the waves of such massive exposure, HIGH ON FIRE hit the road. Europe was conquered with ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY and the U.S. taken in two tours of duty. Summer 2001 saw Man's Ruin close up shop, leaving the band with no label and no distribution. Relapse offered, the trio accepted, and found themselves a new home. In the meantime, Tee Pee stepped in and re-issued 'The Art of Self Defense.' No sooner had the ink dried on the contract before HIGH ON FIRE finished writing and completing a twelve-date West Coast tour prior to entering Prairie Sun Studios (Tom Waits) with Billy Anderson once again. That January '02 recording session (and the following mixing session at Different Fur Studios) yielded the bands long-awaited sophomore effort 'Surrounded By Thieves.' 'Surrounded By Thieves' is a gargantuan amalgam of huge, expansive riffs that crash and drone simultaneously. Rice's seismic bass lines bolster everything like huge flotation devices only to be blown apart by the cannon-like drums of Kensel. Pike's raw throaty vocals surface intermittently, acting both as punctuation as well as it's own tortured instrument. Songs such as "Hung, Drawn and Quartered," "Nemesis," and "Razorhoof" are staggering in their expanse. Rarely has metal been as powerful and pure in its ability to translate primal fury and aggression. 'Surrounded By Thieves' was issued on May 28th and the HIGH ON FIRE juggernaut celebrated with a marathon North American Tour that saw them traverse the continent for six consecutive months with the likes of SHADOWS FALL, SUPERJOINT RITUAL, MASTODON, MUSHROOMHEAD, and JUCIFER. The trio capped the year with a Japanese headlining tour. HIGH ON FIRE kicked off 2003 with a performance at the Relapse Contamination Festival and an extensive co-headlining European Tour with MASTODON. The band hit the road with MOTORHEAD and the DWARVES in April, 2003 and followed with a headlining summer U.S. jaunt. HIGH ON FIRE began 2004 by being named one of Alternative Press Magazine's "25 Most Important Metal Bands." The band then announced another U.S. tour, this time headlining the first of several planned 2004 Relapse Contamination label tours beginning March, 2004. HIGH ON FIRE -- who debuted new material from the forthcoming follow up to their Relapse debut 'Surrounded By Thieves' -- were joined by recent Relapse signees ZEKE and instrumental trio DYSRHYTHMIA. The tour also included a stop at the 2004 Relapse Records SXSW showcase. In the summer of 2004, HIGH ON FIRE underwent a lineup change as the band was joined by bassist Joe Preston (THRONES / ex-MELVINS). Preston replaced long time HIGH ON FIRE bassist George Rice, joining the power trio alongside Pike and Kensel. Preston made his live debut with HIGH ON FIRE on an August, 14 city trek that took the band to Chicago, IL where they enterd Electrical Audio Studios with engineer Steve Albini (NEUROSIS, JON SPENCER BLUES EXPLOSION, NIRVANA) to record the follow up to 2002's heralded "Surrounded by Thieves". The forthcoming HIGH ON FIRE album, titled, "Blessed Black Wings" is slated for a February, 2005 release date via Relapse. HIGH ON FIRE are a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume. Equal parts molten metal and earthquake panic, HIGH ON FIRE's MOTORHEAD-meets-SLAYER roar is outrageously loud and absolutely punishing. With Blessed Black Wings, guitarist / vocalist Matt Pike (ex-SLEEP) unleashes a devastating combination of bombastic guitar and howling war cries, weaving fantastical tales of supernatural beasts, forgotten battles and rivers of blood over an unstoppable bass and drum assault. HIGH ON FIRE are a class unto themselves, manhandling rock music while locking into grooves that transcend time.
