Suffokate Set To Release New Album, Continue Touring
January 9, 2010
Suffokate are a true underground metal phenomenon and have built up a rabid, extremely loyal following upon releasing their self-financed debut offering, 'Oakland', in 2004. Now the band are finally poised to turn the metal world onto their unique brand of brutality as the much anticipated, appropriately titled new disc, 'No Mercy, No Forgiveness', is now set for a Feb. 23rd release. This album is pure, unfiltered heavy metal that will soon be hailed as one of the most devastating offerings of the year, so head over now to to stream two new tracks.

has refined their line-up and sound to an amalgamation of angst-ridden hardcore, fused with a Bay Area thrash backbone. This is extreme, unapologetic metal that pulls no punches and goes straight for the jugular with a barrage of frenetic riffs and crushing grooves that will pummel you into oblivion.

Starting Jan. 20th you can catch the band on the road nationwide as part of "The Small Town Shakedown" tour alongside The Ghost Inside, For The Fallen Dreams and Your Demise. All tour dates can be found at

In August 2008, Suffokate embarked of their first U.S. tour and haven't stopped touring since, playing alongside the links of everyone from All Shall Perish and Caliban to Sea Of Treachery, Blindwitness, And Hell Followed With, Destruction of A Rose, The Faceless, Dying Fetus, Beneath The Massacre, and Enfold Darkness.

(guitars) further states: "We are extremely excited and anxious for our new release. As a band we haven't put a new album out in five years. Since then we have grown as musicians and as people. Over the past year we have been touring nonstop in support of this new effort. We feel that our sound is different than a lot of bands. The goal of this unit is to blend all styles and genres into one sound that we call our own. We feel that our music can appeal to any type of heavy music listener.

'No Mercy, No Forgiveness' is the next step in the progression of our sound. There are some very new and different things on this album that this band has never done before. Hopefully this will take us to the next level and allow us to stay on the road as that is what we do best. Take a look at our Myspace page to see if we are coming to a town near you and we hope to see you all soon."

HOME TOWN: Lansing/Saginaw, MI
Chad Ruhlig -Vocals
Jim Hocking - Guitar
Jason Spencer - Guitar
Joe Ellis - Bass/Vocals
Andrew Tkaczyk - Drums

In today's hardcore/metal scene, it's easy for anyone to become jaded by the constant clones of, what is basically, the same band with hundreds of different names. We've all heard it; the same riff accompanied by the growling vocals and simultaneous "chug-chug" breakdowns. So, we wait and maybe search the music section on Myspace for a breath of fresh air. Thankfully, hidden in the obscure depths of the internet are bands that give this genre hope, and if you look hard enough, you can find them.
One of these noteworthy bands is Lansing, Michigan's well kept secret, For the Fallen Dreams. Formed in late 2003 and recently signing with Rise Records (The Devil Wears Prada, Drop Dead Gorgeous) in the summer of 2007, these young men show incredible promise through songs that showcase poignant and powerful writing, both lyrically and musically while still staying in touch with their hardcore/metal roots. Their music displays a well-done balance of metal and melody. Guitarists, Jim Hocking and Jason Spencer show a variety of ranges while shifting back and forth between hard-hitting metal riffs and some rather melodic guitar lines. Given their ability to draw the listener in with brutally honest lyrics about life, relationships, and struggle, the band shows solidarity for their future as a band to be taken seriously.

With 2008 shaping up to be a pretty big year for For the Fallen Dreams, I think we'll be hearing a lot more from them. Chad, Jason, Jim, Joe and Andrew certainly seem to be on their way to setting the bar for the future of hardcore.
