Firewind Return With 'Days of Defiance'
May 30, 2010
The Greek metal phenomenon Firewind, led by the young guitar sensation Gus G. (Ozzy Osbourne), has returned with the scathing new effort 'Days of Defiance', which is easily their defining moment. The much anticipated disc is set for a fall release and it's a truly ambitious and dynamic opus featuring some of the most brilliant guitar playing the genre has seen in many years. Be sure to stay tuned to www.myspace.com/firewind in the coming weeks for the new album's cover art, track listing and samples of new songs.

Firewind are also currently featured on Metal Hammer UK's May edition (Issue 205) Judas Priest Tribute CD presenting a blistering version of the classic "Breaking The Law" track to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the 'British Steel' album. For more information, please visit www.metalhammer.co.uk

Gus G. further states: "I know it's been a few silent months, but this time we decided to be pretty quiet about the recording process of our new album. Anyways, before we go into revealing more info, we recently did a very fun project which was to be a part of Metal Hammer UK's Judas Priest Tribute CD.

"We actually recorded everything for that cover song in our home studios and then passed over the files to Fredrik Nordstrom/Studio Fredman in Sweden for the mix. This also marks our first recording with our new drummer, Michael Ehre, and the end result is killer (in our humble opinion), as we got to cover one of metal's most classic songs "Breaking The Law."

"As for our new album, it's scheduled for a release sometime this fall and the name of it is 'Days of Defiance'. We'll check back soon to reveal more info, song names, etc. We can't wait for you to all hear this and we promise it will be worth the wait."

Firewind Complete Successful UK Headline Tour
October 6, 2008
The Greek metal sensation, Firewind, just completed a highly successful UK headlining tour and are now preparing for another massive European run this Nov. in support of their highly acclaimed album, 'The Premonition'.

Mark Cross (drums) recently recorded an instructional lesson that can now be viewed below, as well as on the band’s official YouTube page. Stay tuned for new episodes featuring vocal lessons from Apollo, and additional Gus G. clips, which should be posted over the next couple of weeks. Also, don’t miss out on their new live video for “Head Up High,” shot by aspiring new director Bob Katsionis (Firewind keyboardist), which can be viewed now on their MySpace page.

Gus G. (guitars) checks in with the following report: “So, we’re back from our UK tour! It was a very smooth nine date run for us and we are very happy with how the whole thing went down. To start with, we had two killer bands with us: Kiuas and Dear Superstar. All very nice guys and good live bands. Our crew was top notch and amazing people. So if the foundation is right, the rest can be a piece of cake. Right? Well, actually our feelings were mixed. Stressed and excited. We didn’t know what to expect, as this is only the 2nd time we were headlining in the UK and many of these places we visited for the first time. We didn’t know if anyone would turn up for these gigs. We were in for a surprise.

“All shows were packed with our crazy fans (some sold out) and you guys have proved that the UK has some of the most hardcore Firewind fans, if not THE most hardcore! If you ask me for highlights, I don’t know what to choose from. Nottingham and Glasgow were insane as always, Dublin has a special place in our hearts after such a warm welcome on our debut show, Manchester, Leeds and Wolverhampton were louder than hell, London was stressful, but beautiful as always and Milton Keynes and Peterborough were great to wrap it up, even though we felt we just started getting on fire! Cheers to all of you. I have a premonition that the European shows will be just as good. See you all soon.”

Firewind Completes Successful North American Tour
June 18, 2008
The Greek metal sensation, Firewind, have just completed their most successful run of North America as part of the massive “Tyranny and Bloodshred” tour package, which was hailed as one of the best guitar-shredder packages of the year. This crushing trek also featured labelmates Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity and Divine Heresy. This was the group’s first stateside run in support of their critically acclaimed new album, 'The Premonition', which features the hit tracks, “Mercenary Man” and “Head Up High.” Head over to www.myspace.com/firewind to view the video for “Mercenary Man,” which was shot by acclaimed director Patric Ullaeus (Dimmu Borgir, In Flames).

Metal Sanaz also caught up with Gus when the tour came through LA a few weeks ago. Check it out below.

The young guitar sensation Gus G. (ex-Dream Evil, Nightrage, Mystic Prophecy, Arch Enemy) further comments in regards to the tour’s success: “Just wanted to check in and let you know that we arrived home safely from our massive North American tour! Overall, this tour took us through 30 cities, 16 of those being a part of the ‘Tyranny and Bloodshred’ package. After those dates we jumped straight into another 14 shows together with Dark Tranquillity and Divine Heresy.

“We had great times on this tour and we want to thank Arch Enemy, DT and DH as well as our great crew and everyone who was involved into making this happen. Last but not least, thanks to all our American fans for their true support and dedication, we will be back soon.

“Right after the last show in Springfield, Virginia, we flew out to England to play the UK’s premier metal festival, Download! We landed in London the morning after; totally jet lagged, jumped into a van and drove straight to the festival. The excitement was huge and we couldn’t wait to finally rock Donington! So, on Friday the 13th @ 3:05 we hit the 3rd stage of Download and it was damn packed, with thousands of people chanting our name. We definitely didn’t expect such a warm welcome. It was an amazing feeling and a big dream coming true. I am very proud that we were the first Metal band from Greece to ever play Donington. We will see you all soon.”

Gus just posted the second installment of his new instructional guitar series online, which can also be viewed below. In this episode Gus runs through some riffs from the album’s lead off track “Into The Fire.” Stay tuned for new episodes featuring vocal lessons from Apollo, drum lessons from Mark and keyboard lessons from Bob, which should be posted over the next couple of months.

What a revelation!
Melodic metallers FIREWIND are back with a revamped line-up and a monster of a new album, symbolically entitled "Allegiance".

After the release of their highly acclaimed Century Media debut album and third album all-together, 2005s "Forged By Fire", the Greek band led by young guitar hero GUS G did a string of support shows for HammerFall, some European festival appearances as well as club date with Nevermore in London, before realizing that some member-changes were unavoidable.

As GUS G decided to leave his other musical activities (playing in Nightrage, Mystic Prophecy and Dream Evil as well as appearing as stand-in guitarist for Arch Enemy at the Ozzfest tour throughout the Summer of 2005) rest in favour of concentrating on FIREWIND, he quickly managed to announce Apollo Papathanasio (ex-Majestic, Time Requiem) as new vocalist and Mark Cross (ex-Helloween, ex-Metalium) as new drummer for the band.

Encouraged by a stronger drive of creativity and unity than ever before, FIREWIND decided to visit Sweden to record "Allegiance" at JM Studio and then mix at Studio Fredman together with Fredrik Nordstr..m (HammerFall, Arch Enemy, Opeth), before heading to Peter in de Betous studio Tailor Maid Productions (Dark Tranquillity, Meshuggah, Hellfueled) for a powerful
mastering exercise.

The resulting eleven-track effort will undeniably satisfy the needs and desires of every class-loving metalhead out there, spanning the best elements of modern melodic hardrock, powerful epic metal, super-catchy and effective hooklines as well as irresistible lead-guitar technique.

The up-tempo opening tracks "Allegiance" and "Insanity" guaranty a great introduction for the high-quality listening to follow before the albums first single, "Falling To Pieces" for which acclaimed director Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company - whose credits include Lacuna Coil, In Flames, Dimmu Borgir, etc. - just shot an amazing video clip kicks in to fully take your breath away.

Furthermore, the atmospherically rocking "Breaking The Silence" featuring a remarkable vocal duet between Swedish-based singer/songwriter TARA
and APOLLO.

The sweet tones of the semi-ballads "Deliverance" and "The Essence", the classic powerhouse "Till The End Of Time" or the melodic album-closing with "Where Do We go From Here?" will give you a full overview of how versatile, dynamic and highly entertaining this album shines through.

"Allegiance" is set to doubtlessly catapult FIREWIND onto the elite of the scene, so better pledge your allegiance!
