Mel Gibson is still cool in my book... and so is Chris Brown... now Ben Bernanke I would love to punch in the face but that is a little outside the world of entertainment. Re-treading back to my initial statement Mel Gibson racial/sexual slurs aside is still an actor and directorwhose works I enjoy and with that I was happy to see Mel coming back with a new film called EDGE OF DARKNESS that seems fairly intriguing. Of course the film is not out until January 2010 but for now you can get your initial tastes with the official trailer via Yahoo! Movies.

Holy Joe Carnahan directed big screen adaptation of THE A-TEAM due out in 2010! From what initially seemed like an awful joke the first pic of the titular team of "A" has M@ intrigued, interested and entertained(sorry ran out of words beginning with "in" that made sense) which you can check out for yourself below. In case you are wondering the photo features Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton 'Faceman' Peck, Liam Neeson as Col. John 'Hannibal' Smith, Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson as Sgt. Bosco 'B.A.' Baracus, and star of this summers best film by far DISTRICT 9 Sharlto Copley as Capt. 'Howling Mad' Murdock!

The man behind the mask of Michael Myers from box office horror films Rob Zombie’s Halloween (2007) and H2 (2009), as well as other block buster hits such as X-Men and Troy, is taking matters into his own hands. Tyler Mane has announced the formation of his new production company, Mane Entertainment, LLC and plans for their first film, a horror-thriller titled Penance Lane.
"Indie films are taking a beating”, states Mane. “I firmly believe that some of the best, most creative films are done on a smaller budget. If you're absolutely committed to getting a high quality project, it forces you to think outside the box and make the best use of your resources."
Mane also cites the current economy as one of his motivating factors. "The bottom line is ultimately the bottom line, and no matter what the numbers at the box office say, they're only relevant based on how much was put into the film. You can have a #1 movie that makes millions of dollars, but if you haven't made your investors' money back, on some level it's still a failure. Right now you have to go smaller to get bigger. I think we as filmmakers need to be more responsible in this rough economic period and mitigate the financial risk. "
In Penance Lane, a career criminal fresh out of the joint is given an opportunity to leave behind his criminal ways-- but it comes with a catch. He must first take a walk down Penance Lane to find a fortune from a heist gone wrong. But the horrors he finds in the dilapidated house he must search are far more than he could have ever imagined.
Mane Entertainment is currently in the financing process for Penance Lane and looking for other production companies and financers to collaborate on this project. For information please contact Mane Entertainment at contact@maneentertainment.com.

Luckily this week the studios have toned down the amount of new releases, and from what I can tell have upped the quality as this week sees the releases of DARREN ARONOFSKY's THE WRESTLER starring MICKEY ROURKE in a critically hailed comeback role, of course to match the competition in the drama department there is also the WILL SMITH film SEVEN POUNDS which from what I can tell is either really good or really confusing, or both! Not to be outshined though is the CG film THE TALE OF DESPEREAUX complete with cute big eared mouse hero and all, the JIM CARREY comedy YES MAN and last and definitely in the least amount of theatres is the KATE BECKINSALE film NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.
As always check your local listings for the exact showtimes in your area, and make sure to check out the official LOUDSIDE.COM pages for each of these films to get yourself in the know about all of these films!
