Dimmu Borgir Reveal Part 2 Of New Album Art
July 7, 2010
The second of four portions of the new artwork for the as-yet-untitled Dimmu Borgir album has been uploaded to the band's MySpace page. You can check it out below as well.

When asked if fans should look for something hidden in the artwork that may not be obvious at first glance, German artist / painter / graphic designer Joachim Luetke (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Sopor Aeternus) responds: "It's not like looking at a picture puzzle, but if you listen to the music while looking at the imagery, an additional dimension will unfold before your eyes, that's for sure. Learning about the real meaning of the album title is also a useful key to it."

Luetke's artwork and layout art also graces two other Dimmu Borgir albums: 2003's 'Death Cult Armageddon' and 2007's 'In Sorte Diaboli'.

Dimmu Borgir's
ninth studio album will be released in Germany on September 24th, in the rest of Europe on September 27th, and in North America on October 12th.

Dimmu Borgir Reveal Part 1 of New Album Art
July 7, 2010
The first of four portions of the new artwork for the as-yet-untitled Dimmu Borgir album has been uploaded to the band's MySpace page.

Joachim Luetke (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Sopor Aeternus), German artist / painter / graphic designer who studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, Austria, lends his disturbing talents to the new Dimmu Borgir album.

When asked what he feels his approach does for Dimmu Borgir, Luetke responds: "My artwork visualizes their music, adds another (optical) dimension to it. I don't know exactly how this works. Cannot tell what kind of interior mechanism gets triggered by their music, but it's clearly an utmost powerful one. Analyzing this means destroying it. As for our repeated collaborations, well, that's probably because we share the similar philosophy at eye level."

Luetke's artwork and layout art also graces two other Dimmu Borgir albums: 2003's 'Death Cult Armageddon', which has sold 130,000 copies in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan and debuted at #7 on Billboard's Heatseekers chart, #10 on the Top Independent Albums chart, and #170 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart, and 2007's 'In Sorte Diaboli', which has sold over 75,000 copies in the U.S. according to Nielsen SoundScan and debuted at #2 on Billboard's Top Independent Albums chart and at #43 on the Top 200 Albums chart.

Insidious Disease Post 'Shadowcast' Artwork, Video Trailer
July 5, 2010
Insidious Disease, the 'Super Group' consisting of Dimmu Borgir's main songwriter Silenoz, bassist Shane Embury (Napalm Death), guitarist Jardar (Old Mans Child), drummer Tony Laureano (Angelcorpse, Nile) and vocalist Marc Grewe (from German death metal legends Morgoth) will release its debut album 'Shadowcast' via Century Media Records on July 12th in Europe and July 27th in North America.

Insidious Disease
is proud to unveil a brand new artwork trailer for 'Shadowcast' offering a glimpse at the morbid visuals accompanying the release. Check it out below.
To watch the band's current video clip "Rituals Of Bloodshed" and check out further tracks, head over now to http://www.myspace.com/insidiousdisease

further explains the concept of 'Shadowcast', which has way more to offer than just typical death metal gore galore: "The basic idea behind 'Shadowcast' lyrically is an attempt to describe the 'misfits' in this world: the misunderstood, mentally defect and depraved individuals that walk among us - rapists, serial killers, pedophiles, necrophiles and drug addicts, etc. It could be your neighbor, you just never know, it could be YOU!

"Denial and self-denial are taboos that seldom are touched upon unless it's behind closed doors at the shrink's office. Even so, no matter how disturbing the subject might be, we hardly get to the bottom of it. Each text tries to approach the many outcast stereotypes we face in today's modern society, and how most of them once caught get neglected and pushed away instead of being offered proper assistance, support and help through various institutions according to their 'needs'. Let's face it, we humans equal shit.

"In some countries where death penalties apply the convicts also have to wait years before being executed, which is inhumane as things need to be dealt with as soon as possible. We humans are better at pushing things away and destroying than facing a problem and try to rehabilitate. Most people reading the lyrics and seeing the booklet photos will perhaps immediately assume that it's all about glorifying violence and hatred, but if you read between the lines it's actually kind of the opposite, portraying this very issue.

"So, the album title 'Shadowcast' has somewhat of a double meaning; all of these 'actors and actresses' star in the shadowcast. They are the true stars of the underground, our very own dark backyard. The backyard we humans hate dealing with because it means interacting with other people and as they mingle among us daily they continue to 'cast their shadows' at us."

Insidious Disease
also faced serious problems during the manufacturing process as pressing plants refused to produce the original design of the booklet due to its violent content as well as print the equally controversial lyrics, Silenoz states: "It's quite fascinating that in the year of 2010 album artwork can be so scary that manufacturing plants don't even dare to print it. I always thought reality still was more frightening compared to art in that sense, but I guess I was wrong! Controversy is still to be reckoned with in the world of metal and if we're being censored for being realistic and touch upon human flaws through our lyrics and art - then so be it."

Dimmuborgir (pronounced DIM-moo bor-GEAR) is a large area of unusually shaped lava fields that includes various cave and rock formations east of Lake Mỷvatn on Iceland. While the word dimmu means fog/dark, and borgir means castle/fortress, and the lava fields were named after the Kirkjan (The Church) cave with the high, gothic-styled vaulted ceiling, the area is commonly referred to as the Gates to Hell.
Welcome to the not-so-mythical world of Norways DIMMU BORGIR - thee most prominent melodic black metal act in the world.

Founded in 1993 by lead singer Shagrath, guitarist Silenoz, and drummer Tjodalv, DIMMU BORGIR made their debut onto the underground metal scene via a limited 7 vinyl EP entitled Inn I Evighetens Morke (Into The Eternity Of Darkness) in 1994. Inspired by early incarnations of black metal from the 1980s and inspired by the works of classical composers such as Wagner and Dvorak, the bands music was resplendent in its raw & melodic vocals, aggressive guitar work, destructive drums, and haunting keyboard melodies. Less than a year later, the band (now a 5-piece) recorded their now-classic full-length debut, For All Tid, to wild acclaim. While DIMMU BORGIRs reputation gained momentum throughout Scandinavia, the band focused their energies on recording what was to become one of the most essential albums in black metal history, Stormblst, which although sung completely in Norwegian - catapulted them out of Europe and into international (albeit still underground) waters. Though displaying a marked escalation in their time signatures, DIMMU BORGIR made significant headway in defining their classically influenced sound that would become an intrinsic blueprint.

Following Stormblst, DIMMU BORGIR decided to record in English to reach a broader audience, and the result was 1997s commanding masterpiece, Enthrone Darkness Triumphant. Produced by the one-and-only living legend Peter Tgtgren (Hypocrisy, Pain) at Abyss Studios (Immortal, Destruction, Children Of Bodom), the album was released by Nuclear Blast and marked the bands significant international breakthrough with over 150,000 copies sold and chart entries all over the world. Included in this breakthrough year were performances at some of the most esteemed European music festivals such as Germanys Dynamo and Wacken Open Air.

After their world tour for Enthroned Darkness Triumphant, DIMMU BORGIR recorded the Godless Savage Garden mini-CD to hold fans over as they curiously waited to see what direction the next full-length, Spiritual Black Dimensions, would take. Once again recorded at Abyss Studios with Peter Tgtgren, the album stormed into music stores around the world in 1999 and single-handedly transformed the market for black metal. Those who ever doubted DIMMU BORGIRs allegiance to extreme music were forced to face reality when the album proved to be their most complex and severe offering.

DIMMU suffered a setback when long-time drummer Tjodalv resigned from the band in the early stages of their 1999 tour. His replacement was none other than former Cradle Of Filth skinsman Nick Barker, whose presence among vocalist Shagrath, guitarists Silenoz & Galder, bassist & clean vocalist I.C.S. Vortex, and keyboard player Mustis complemented the bands already impressive lineage. The sextet entered Swedens Fredman Studio in the fall of 2000 with the equally acclaimed producer Fredrik Nordstrm (At The Gates, Opeth, In Flames) to record Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia, and did not fail to create an uncompromising 11 tracks of audible malevolence and exceptional atmospherics. Released in 2001, Puritanical expanded DIMMUs audience even more, and 2003s self-produced Death Cult Armageddon proved to be no different. Debuting on Billboards Top 200 Albums chart and entering at #7 on Billboards Heatseekers chart, Death Cult Armageddon went on to sell over 100,000 records in North America alone. DIMMU BORGIR not only landed a coveted spot on Ozzfests Main Stage in 2004, but they were showcased in MTVs reality series Battle For Ozzfest, and the dark orchestrations of their Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse track was selected for use in the trailer for Guillermo del Toros film, Hellboy.

Recruiting the prolific drummer Hellhammer (Mayhem, Arcturus, Winds) for session work in last years re-recording of Stormblst (produced by Peter Tgtgren) and boasting his session work in the recording for their first studio album in four years, 2007s In Sorte Diaboli is DIMMU BORGIR's first concept album. An epic story set in medieval Europe, In Sorte Diaboli is a treatise on modern day political and social abuses of organized religion. This first-person account of an acolyte is told through his own journal entries, depicting his personal struggle with the teachings of the church. Experiencing a life-altering epiphany, he abandons the church completely, and his spiritual victory is won through his rejection of the concept of god. Produced by Fredrik Nordstrm and Patrik J. Sten at Swedens (in)famous Studio Fredman, the dark grandiosity of The Serpentine Offering, the elegant ferocity of The Sacrilegious Scorn, the impending doom of The Fallen Arises, and the unforgiving death march of The Ancestral Fever have all fused together to create what has been praised as the most complete symphonic black metal record by Metal Maniacs Magazine.

In Sorte Diaboli welcomes you to the battle that will never end. Antichristus spiritualis.
