Dethklok Enter Billboard Top 200 At #15
October 13, 2009
Animated Heavy metal juggernauts Dethklok have exploded onto the Billboard Top 200 again with the release of 'Dethalbum II', selling nearly 45,000 copies in its first week. The ferocious new record from the stars of the Adult Swim series Metalocalypse debuted at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 six spots higher then their debut album 'Dethalbum' back in 2007.

Metalocalypse creator Brendon Small had this to say about the chart debut of Dethklok's 'Dethalbum II': "I'm both happy and humiliated that 'Dethalbum 2' reached number 15. Happy because we beat the first 'Dethalbum' numbers and humiliated to have been beaten by our second album numbers by ourselves. Either way we're still not as good as the Archies and I never want to forget that. Having said all of that, dear god I am fantastic and talented."

The September 27 release of Metalocalypse: Dethklok’s 'Dethalbum II' coincides with the start of Season 3 of Metalocalypse on Adult Swim in November. The third season of Metalocalypse will pick up right where Season 2 left off, and this season the episodes will be thirty minutes long.

Be sure to pick up the record-breaking new CD, Metalocalypse: Dethklok's 'The Dethalbum II', and be sure to catch Dethklok live on tour.

Dethklok, Mastodon To Co-Headline Fall Tour
August 5, 2009
This fall, two of the most popular bands in metal will co-headline a 34-city North American tour as the Grammy® Award-winning Mastodon hits the road with Dethklok, the world’s most brutal animated death metal band from Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse.

In one of the most highly-anticipated tours of the year, the Adult Swim Presents Dethklok and Mastodon tour will kick off on October 2 in Portland, Ore. and bring mayhem and destruction to local venues throughout the nation. Adding even more layers to this fall’s top metal tour, Oakland’s High On Fire and Converge will open each show. Ticket pre-sales began yesterday (Tuesday, August 4) at 10:00 AM EST, while the full allotment of tickets will go on sale to the general public starting this Friday, August 7. For more information about the tour including the pre-sale ticket password, price ranges and how to order, please visit www.adultswimpresents.com.

As sponsor for the entire tour, Adult Swim will feature ”Brütal Legend” gaming stations for fans to experience the videogame first-hand, while a two-minute animated content piece, created by Titmouse, will air during each show. Print ads, AdultSwim.com and on-site materials will also feature the videogame as the tour’s key sponsor. “Brütal Legend” is an epic action game from visionary developer Tim Schafer. Jack Black stars as Eddie Riggs, a legendary roadie summoned to a world of Heavy Metal where mountains are made of amplifiers, killer spiders spin guitar strings and Rock Legends roam the landscape. As Eddie, crush skulls with a battle axe, ravage the road in a super-charged Hot Rod and unleash the power of Rock to reign down fire from the sky – all to save humanity and become a Brütal Legend.

Nathan Explosion
, William Murderface, Skwisgaar Swigelf, Toki Wartooth and Pickles – better known as Dethklok – will take to the road in support of the band’s latest CD release from Williams Street Records, 'Dethklok: The Dethalbum II', which will be released as both a standard and deluxe edition on September 29 from Williams Street Records. A limited-edition vinyl of the album will also be released at local record shops starting November 24. Bringing the animated band to life on stage each night will be series co-creator and composer Brendon Small along with an all-star band including the legendary Gene Hoglan, Bryan Beller and Mike Keneally. These real life-musicians will perform live while dark-lit and playing underneath a giant projection screen featuring all-new animation and music videos from Dethklok to create a truly unique concert experience.

Sharing the bill with Dethklok on this seven-week tour is Grammy® Award-winning hard icons Mastodon, who are currently touring Europe and the UK with Metallica. The band’s groundbreaking new album, 'Crack The Skye', was released on March 24, debuting on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #11 to overwhelming international critical praise. Rolling Stone Magazine applauded Mastodon by declaring them as: “The greatest metal band of their generation – no one comes close.” Go to www.mastodonrocks.com or www.cracktheskye.com for more info and updates.

Universally recognized as one of the most potent acts in music today, High On Fire creates “bad-ass” modern metal that merges primal fury and aggression, skyscraping riff explosions and hesher bombast with a monolithic heaviness. Described as “a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume and sheer heaviness,” High On Fire has burned the hard rock rulebook since its formation in 1998, forging a style and sound that is both unique and absolutely crushing. The group features vocalist and cult guitar hero Matt Pike, a founding member of the famed underground band Sleep and one of heavy music’s most charismatic figures. Pike was named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of its “New Guitar Gods.”

Considered one of the most intense, important, and influential metal/hardcore bands ever, Converge will release their anticipated new album, 'Axe To Fall', on Epitaph on October 20th. The release is the follow up to their highly-acclaimed 'No Heroes' album, released on Epitaph in 2006. Though Converge has remained tight lipped about all aspects of 'Axe To Fall', the buzz surrounding the upcoming release already has the rumblings of potential aggressive album of the year.

The tour schedule for Adult Swim Presents Metalocalypse’s Dethklok and Mastodon with High On Fire and Converge is as follows:

"Seeing this lineup makes me jealous for the audience,” said Metalocalypse’s Small. “Both myself and my band that doesn't exist are incredibly excited and honored to be a part of it. Furthermore, I see this tour jump-starting the economy and completely reversing the recession. I've said this a thousand times: There is no recession for metal."

Brendon Small On Paul Green School Of Rock All-Stars Tour
March 16, 2009
The Paul Green School of Rock All-Stars are about to experience the Metalocalypse in the name of Brendon Small.

Small, co-creator of "Metalocalypse", the smash hit animated series on Adult Swim featuring the fictitious metal band Dethklok, is the latest and, in many ways, the greatest “Guest Professor” ever to lead the School of Rock’s best and brightest students from 45 nationwide schools on tour. Recently voted “Best New Guitarist” in Guitar World, Small will be performing and teaching the music of Dethklok, and joining the All-Stars in other metal classics on this very special trek through the Northeast. The weeklong U.S. tour launches Monday, March 30 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC and includes stops in New York (B.B. King’s), Boston (Showcase Live), Philadelphia (Trocadero) and Sayreville, NJ (Starland Ballroom), with special Q&A sessions between Small and his rabid fans at each performance. Most of the shows will be opened by Tragedy, the all-metal tribute to the Bee Gees, with select appearances along the route by all-girl tribute bands Misstallica (Metallica tribute) and Queen Diamond (King Diamond tribute)..

"It'll basically be me and a bunch of bad ass 11- to 17-year olds playing music that I really dig,” says Small. “I should remind everybody this isn't a Dethklok show — just me and some kids having a blast!”

Small’s love affair with the Paul Green School of Rock began when he became a fan of the acclaimed 2005 documentary Rock School – long before he ever met Paul Green. Once the two music titans were finally introduced during a recent All-Stars tour stop in Hollywood, Small turned on Green to "Metalocalypse", he fell in love with the TV show, and a “Bro-mance” quickly blossomed.

In "Metalocalypse", Dethklok is “the world’s most popular band” – so popular that thousands of fans will travel to remote areas of the globe just to hear them perform a single song, and sign “pain waivers” in case anything truly horrible happens to them at a show (which invariably occurs). The band members are also incredibly selfish, stupid, and oblivious to anything that happens outside their rock ‘n’ roll bubble.

Aside from being co-creator, of "Metalocalypse", Small writes and performs most of Dethklok’s music whether it’s on TV or album. In 2007 Dethklok’s debut album, 'The Dethalbum', became the No. 1 selling death metal album of all time.

Brendon Small is an absolute genius,’’ says Green. “Not only has he co-created the first true rock show on TV since ‘WKRP in Cincinnati,’ but many of my students agree with me that he’s also an outstanding guitarist and songwriter.”

As the Paul Green School of Rock enters its second decade, Green’s dream has become a national phenomenon — a vision that has since produced an explosion of schools nationwide and a number of future rock stars, many of whom have traveled quite far along the trail he blazed when he took music instruction out of the classroom and onto the live rock stage by founding the original and premier performance-based rock music school in the country for kids 8-17 in 1998.

“Even after all this time, all our expansion, and everything we have achieved,” says Green, “the best way to teach kids to play music remains the same: load a bunch of them on a bus and take them out on the road to PLAY music."

The Paul Green School of Rock is well on its way to producing the next generation of rock stars. Among its alumni, drummer Eric Slick became a sought after touring drummer immediately upon graduation, playing shows with Zappa Alumni band Project/Object, Steve Vai bandleader Mike Keneally, and various WEEN side projects. Together with his bassist sister, Julie Slick, they currently tour with guitar legend Adrian Belew (David Bowie, King Crimson) as the Adrian Belew Power Trio. Drummer Branden King, is not only Philly legend Chuck Treece’s go-to drummer, but also played with three bands at last year’s SXSW, and has done two tours of Europe with various projects. Slide guitar phenom Sarah Zimmerman recently signed a management deal with Tor Hyams (Joan Osborne, Perry Farrell, Deborah Harry) and is working with top writers and producers on her debut album. Shredmaster CJ Tywoniak, star of Rock School, is being courted by record labels eager to release his debut EP. He recently sat in with Steve Miller, and dazzled all of those in attendence. Many former School of Rock students also are attending top music colleges such as Berklee and the University of Miami, as well as working their own bands with dreams of stardom.

“I put these shows together with real music fans in mind,” says Green. “Any true rock fan who comes to our show will be delighted by the deep cuts these kids take on, the difficult material they tackle, and the love and enthusiasm they bring to the stage."
