Decrepit Birth Drummer Issues Update On 'Spread The Venom' Tour
February 23, 2011
Decrepit Birth drummer Samus Paulicelli has just released an audio update in regards to Decrepit Birth missing the first two weeks of the "Spread The Venom Tour" with Kataklysm and All Shall Perish. The band was forced to sit out the first ten dates because Samus could not leave the state of New Jersey for legal reasons as he explains in his audio blog found at http://theliveline.com/SamusPaulicelli. The band will join the tour on March 7th in San Francisco, CA.

In his audio blog, Samus also revealed that he and guitarist Matt will be recording a new video that they will be posting in the near future.

Kataklysm World Tour Dates Announced
November 17, 2010
Montreal based extreme metallers Kataklysm are pleased to announce, in cooperation with Decibel Magazine and SickDrummerMagazine.com, the North American leg of their “Spread the Venom 2010 – 2011 World Tour“. Joining them in the direct support slot will be groove laden death shredders All Shall Perish, Decrepit Birth, Conducting From The Grave, and Abysmal Dawn. This will be just a part of a massive worldwide tour, that is rumored to be the bands last before a much needed break from the bands extensive performance schedule.

"In just about a month we will embark on Kataklysm's longest one way headlining stretch crossing four continents in nearly 20 years,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. “Heaven's Venom has been welcomed with open arms by fans and critics alike across the globe. As I mentioned before in interviews, Heaven’s Venom is a very personal, aggressive and dark Kataklysm album that hits home. We love this album and want to share its anger with our fans! We want to play places we have never been before and also revisit our loyal supporters while creating some new fans along the way. One thing we know, is that this will be the only time you will be able to see the band on this record or for a long time. So don’t say ‘I’ll catch them the next time’ because there might not be a next time. We are thinking of taking along break after this massive trek and who knows what will happen next. So if you are a fan of Kataklysm you have been called to duty!"

The Faceless Prepare For Tour, Comment On New Album
October 18, 2010
Los Angeles based progressive death metallers, The Faceless, have been extremely busy as of late preparing to embark on a massive North American fall tour as direct support to Suffocation while completing work on their much anticipated third full-length release.

Now with the writing process for the new album in full force the group prepares to spend the fall on the road as part of Decibel Magazine's "The Decibel Defiance Tour" featuring Suffocation, Through The Eyes of The Dead, Decrepit Birth and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Michael Keene (guitars) checks in with the following report in regards to their new album and upcoming touring schedule: "After the 'Summer Slaughter' tour wrapped up, we were left with a very refreshing sense of energy and change. It was great to get out and play such killer shows with all of those talented bands and the experience has super charged the excitement of writing new material and pushing ourselves to new musical boundaries as a group and individual musicians/performers.

"The writing process for our upcoming third record is in full swing and it's a very exciting, fulfilling musical journey so far. We'll be debuting a new song on our upcoming tour with Suffocation, which I feel is a great example of the direction in which the new material is headed. Expect a very progressive and vibey record, that maintains the high-energy that you would expect of The Faceless and even more thought provoking lyrical content than ever before.

"We'll be hitting the road in just a few days to wrap-up the touring cycle for 'Planetary Duality'. We'll be locked up in my recording studio in Los Angeles once we get home. You can expect lots of studio updates and blogs along the way. This will be the last tour we'll be doing until we complete the recording of our new record. With that said, we want to make this a special tour for fans who may have seen us on the 'Summer Slaughter' tour. Therefore, we'll be playing more old songs than usual and debuting a brand new song for you! Come and meet us at a merch table and we hope to see you all soon."

Decrepit Birth Premiere 'The Resonance' Video Clip Online
August 1, 2010

Santa Cruz CA's tech-death masters Decrepit Birth, in conjunction with www.NoiseCreep.com, have uploaded the music video for the track "The Resonance" at this location. The song comes from their latest album 'Polarity', out now on Nuclear Blast Records, and was directed by former VJ/producer for MTV Norway's Headbangers Ball Ann Christin "Anki" Rihm.

Photos from the video shoot can be viewed here.

Decrepit Birth also recently checked in from the Summer Slaughter Tour in the wake of their new release 'Polarity', and dropped this update:

"So far, so good,  commented vocalist Bill Robinson. "We are very happy with all the positive feedback to our new CD 'Polarity'. As usual southern California kicked ass. Always a great time. All in all, every show as been very good. Other than having to miss playing Ft. Worth and Houston, TX due to a serious family issue, we have been having a blast.

I would have to say that the Masquerade in Atlanta, GA was the best show of the tour yet. For one, our new CD 'Polarity' was finally released but best of all it was Joel, our bassists 21st birthday again. Bastard! The audience was extremely into the entire show. Every band had an amazing crowd response. I would have to say that we/Joel had the loudest response of the night as EVERYONE in the venue chanted happy birthday to Joel’s eternal 21st. Looking forward to the rest of the tour and running into all our friends, old and new. STAY BRUTAL!"

And of course you can catch Decrepit Birth on the road this summer alongside Decapitated, The Faceless, All Shall Perish and more as part of this year's Summer Slaughter Tour.

Biography
YEAR FORMED: 2001
HOME TOWN: Santa Cruz, CA
MEMBERS:
Bill Robinson - Vocals
KC Howard - Drums
Matt Sotelo - Guitar
Dan Eggers - Guitar
Joel Horner - Bass

Decrepit Birth was formed in 2001 by Matt Sotelo - guitars, Bill Robinson - vocals, and Derek Boyer - bass. Originally the intention was to play devastating, brutal, technical death metal, mixed with influences from the early 1990's Florida death metal scene. Since Matt and Derek had at one time both played in Southern California band, Deprecated, it was easy for the two of them to begin collaborating on material for the first full length Decrepit Birth album 'And Time Begins'.

In Fall of 2002, with the help of friend Tim Yeung on session drums, they entered Legion Studios to begin recording. Almost a year later 'And Time Begins' was released on Unique Leader Records, artwork by Dan Seagrave. The album had production issues but still managed to forge a very solid fan base in the death metal scene. The band went through a dry period of playing no shows due to the lack of a drummer. Bassist Derek Boyer got the chance of a lifetime and was offered a full time position with death metal legends Suffocation. That left Decrepit Birth with out a drummer or bassist.

During 2004, bassist Risha Eryavec stepped in and not long after that, drummer KC Howard of Odious Mortem officially joined the band as well. For the next couple years the new lineup played many shows, fests and one North American tour. In 2007 the band took a break and began writing full time for the new album. They went through some lineup changes and also dealt with personal issues related to a past member. This conflicted the band, and brought about a spiritual overhaul. The result was a change in direction and sound. The new music was becoming influenced by melodic and progressive compositions. The sound was more mature and catchy, while still maintaining the brutality Decrepit Birth is known for.

In Spring of 2007 Decrepit Birth entered Castle Ultimate Studios with engineer Zack Ohren to begin recording for the sophomore album. In January 2008 the highly anticipated album 'Diminishing Between Worlds' was released again through Unique Leader Records. During that same month of January, Decrepit Birth embarked upon their biggest tour yet, opening for The Black Dahlia Murder, 3 Inches Of Blood, and Hate Eternal. With the addition of a second guitarist, Dan Eggers and bassist, Joel Horner(both of Odious Mortem) to replace Risha so he could focus on his family and job, the brand new line up played night after night of sold out shows through out the United States. Now with a new album freshly released, Decrepit Birth was able to catch the attention of Nuclear Blast Records, which was a label the band really wanted to work with for years. After negations, they happily signed on with Nuclear Blast in Spring of 2008. The band is currently touring in support of the new album and is also writing new music, which can only be described as an "evolved version of what we did on Diminishing Between Worlds."
