Dethklok Enter Billboard Top 200 At #15
October 13, 2009
Animated Heavy metal juggernauts Dethklok have exploded onto the Billboard Top 200 again with the release of 'Dethalbum II', selling nearly 45,000 copies in its first week. The ferocious new record from the stars of the Adult Swim series Metalocalypse debuted at #15 on the Billboard Top 200 six spots higher then their debut album 'Dethalbum' back in 2007.

Happy because we beat the first 'Dethalbum' numbers and humiliated to have been beaten by our second album numbers by ourselves. Either way we're still not as good as the Archies and I never want to forget that. Having said all of that, dear god I am fantastic and talented."

The September 27 release of Metalocalypse: Dethklok’s 'Dethalbum II' coincides with the start of Season 3 of Metalocalypse on Adult Swim in November. The third season of Metalocalypse will pick up right where Season 2 left off, and this season the episodes will be thirty minutes long.

Dethklok, Mastodon To Co-Headline Fall Tour
August 5, 2009
This fall, two of the most popular bands in metal will co-headline a 34-city North American tour as the Grammy® Award-winning Mastodon hits the road with Dethklok, the world’s most brutal animated death metal band from Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse.

In one of the most highly-anticipated tours of the year, the Adult Swim Presents Dethklok and Mastodon tour will kick off on October 2 in Portland, Ore. and bring mayhem and destruction to local venues throughout the nation. Adding even more layers to this fall’s top metal tour, Oakland’s High On Fire and Converge will open each show. Ticket pre-sales began yesterday (Tuesday, August 4) at 10:00 AM EST, while the full allotment of tickets will go on sale to the general public starting this Friday, August 7. For more information about the tour including the pre-sale ticket password, price ranges and how to order, please visit

As sponsor for the entire tour, Adult Swim will feature ”Brütal Legend” gaming stations for fans to experience the videogame first-hand, while a two-minute animated content piece, created by Titmouse, will air during each show. Print ads, and on-site materials will also feature the videogame as the tour’s key sponsor. “Brütal Legend” is an epic action game from visionary developer Tim Schafer. Jack Black stars as Eddie Riggs, a legendary roadie summoned to a world of Heavy Metal where mountains are made of amplifiers, killer spiders spin guitar strings and Rock Legends roam the landscape. As Eddie, crush skulls with a battle axe, ravage the road in a super-charged Hot Rod and unleash the power of Rock to reign down fire from the sky – all to save humanity and become a Brütal Legend.

Nathan Explosion
, William Murderface, Skwisgaar Swigelf, Toki Wartooth and Pickles – better known as Dethklok – will take to the road in support of the band’s latest CD release from Williams Street Records, 'Dethklok: The Dethalbum II', which will be released as both a standard and deluxe edition on September 29 from Williams Street Records. A limited-edition vinyl of the album will also be released at local record shops starting November 24. Bringing the animated band to life on stage each night will be series co-creator and composer Brendon Small along with an all-star band including the legendary Gene Hoglan, Bryan Beller and Mike Keneally. These real life-musicians will perform live while dark-lit and playing underneath a giant projection screen featuring all-new animation and music videos from Dethklok to create a truly unique concert experience.

Sharing the bill with Dethklok on this seven-week tour is Grammy® Award-winning hard icons Mastodon, who are currently touring Europe and the UK with Metallica. The band’s groundbreaking new album, 'Crack The Skye', was released on March 24, debuting on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #11 to overwhelming international critical praise. Rolling Stone Magazine applauded Mastodon by declaring them as: “The greatest metal band of their generation – no one comes close.” Go to or for more info and updates.

Universally recognized as one of the most potent acts in music today, High On Fire creates “bad-ass” modern metal that merges primal fury and aggression, skyscraping riff explosions and hesher bombast with a monolithic heaviness. Described as “a supersonic exercise in conquest by volume and sheer heaviness,” High On Fire has burned the hard rock rulebook since its formation in 1998, forging a style and sound that is both unique and absolutely crushing. The group features vocalist and cult guitar hero Matt Pike, a founding member of the famed underground band Sleep and one of heavy music’s most charismatic figures. Pike was named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of its “New Guitar Gods.”

Considered one of the most intense, important, and influential metal/hardcore bands ever, Converge will release their anticipated new album, 'Axe To Fall', on Epitaph on October 20th. The release is the follow up to their highly-acclaimed 'No Heroes' album, released on Epitaph in 2006. Though Converge has remained tight lipped about all aspects of 'Axe To Fall', the buzz surrounding the upcoming release already has the rumblings of potential aggressive album of the year.

The tour schedule for Adult Swim Presents Metalocalypse’s Dethklok and Mastodon with High On Fire and Converge is as follows:

"Seeing this lineup makes me jealous for the audience,” said Metalocalypse’s Small. “Both myself and my band that doesn't exist are incredibly excited and honored to be a part of it. Jacob Bannon (vocals)
Kurt Ballou (guitar)
Nate Newton (bass)
Ben Koller (drums)

In life, there are those who follow and those who boldly forge their own path. Bostons Converge have defined themselves over the past 15 years as one of the few bands who truly fits into the latter categoryand their latest full-length No Heroes is quite possibly their most cerebral and ferocious album to date.

While their Epitaph debut You Fail Me helped the bandvocalist Jacob Bannon, guitarist Kurt Ballou, bassist Nate Newton and drummer Ben Kollerexpand their audience outside the Converge Cult, No Heroes shows the group revisiting the sound of classic records like Petitioning An Empty Sky and Forever Comes Crashing. We dont try to outdo ourselves each time in terms of making a heavy, ridiculous record, but this time we feel like we kind of did, explains Bannon. Weve never been a band whos just going through the motions and I think that shows on this record.

Produced by Ballou at the bands longtime studio/practice spot Godcity, No Heroes shows the band exploring new sonic textures while still retaining the palpable energy theyve become known for. While the album blazes out of the gate with the aptly titled To The Lions, songs like Orphaned the instrumental Plagues prove that breakneck speed and heaviness arent necessarily interrelatedand when Converge lower the tempo, theyre able to effortlessly transcend traditional notions of heaviness.

Devotees of Jane Doe will also be blown away by epic tracks like the nine-minute Grim Heart/Black Rose, a doom masterpiece which features guest vocals from Only Living Witness Jonah Jenkins. What we do is very different than whats happening in the mainstream, Bannon explains. I think were a weird amalgamation of stuff that doesnt really exist anymore thats somewhere between the thrash world, the hardcore world, the punk world and the alt-rock world, he continues. We just went and did our thing on this record rather than try to make a name for ourselves or dilute our approach.

From Bannons captivating artwork and introspective lyrics to Ballous masterful production techniques, Converges artistic vision has always separated the band from their peers, and No Heroes is no exception. A lot of the bands that people consider to be our contemporaries dont share that attention to detail, Ballou admits, fresh off the Sounds Of The Underground amphitheatre tour. With us, everything is carefully crafted and intentional, which is kind of ironic considering to a lot of people our music is just a wall of noise, he continues. I think a lot of what exists now is just decorationand were simply not decoration.

All of this ties into the albums central theme: No Heroes. Theres people who choose to stand up and do something and be relevant in life and theres other people who choose to be part of a herd, Bannon explains. But, like any other Converge album, these songs are outwardly personal and we dont really make any excuses for that. Thats just kind of what we are and what we dig.
