Brain Drill Premiere New Video On Bloody Disgusting
April 19, 2010

Head over to premier horror movie site Bloody Disgusting, (or scroll down) to check out technical death metallers Brain Drill's brand new music video for the track "Beyond Bludgeoned" off the band's upcoming sophomore release 'Quantum Catastrophe'. The video for "Beyond Bludgeoned" was filmed back in February out in the San Joaquin Delta/Rio Vista, CA area and was directed by Nikko DeLuna and shot by Justin Potter.

Brain Drill
will once again take fans on a mind-melting voyage through the boundaries of exactly how incredible technical death metal can be. 'Quantum Catastrophe' continues to push the band to their physical limits while somehow still exhibiting their trademark and infectious hook-laden riffs. Fan should expect an exponentially more technical and brutal release than they got with the band's Metal Blade debut 'Apocalyptic Feasting'. The song structures are way more over the top than before and the riffs catchier than before, which was a natural progression for the band as Brain Drill's goal is to push the limits of what they can do musically and technically. With 'Quantum Catastrophe', Brain Drill truly does push themselves to the limits.

'Quantum Catastrophe'
was recorded at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland, CA with Zach Ohren, who handled engineering mastering and produced the album along with the band. Bassist Ivan Munguia got to show off his guitar skills on the tracks "Mercy to None" and "Awaiting Imminent Destruction" which he wrote and recorded.

Vocalist Steve Rathjen explains the concept behind 'Quantum Catastrophe'; "Universal decimation (black holes, galactic cosmic radiation), pandemic disease and zombie re-awakenings - mankind is entering an age of mass speculation as foreseen by numerous ancient cultures. Space to all humanity still primarily remains a mystery even in our days of immense technological advancements. We know this void is filled with infinite extremities which could occur at any instant; easily decimating all habitations. We also know our planet has fulfilled these mass extinctions time and again centuries in the past. The question which remains, are we due for another apocalyptic transition?"

Guitarist Dylan Ruskin adds some insight into the musical process; "The album was definitely a huge accomplishment in the chronicling of the drill. The musical dynamics and skill level of everyone in the band have improved much more than the previous album. The songs are more technical and musically diverse but are also well balanced and catchy."

Biography
YEAR FORMED: 2005
HOME TOWN: Santa Cruz Mountains, CA
MEMBERS:
Dylan Ruskin- Guitar
Joe Bondra - Drums
Steven Rathjen- Vocals
Ivan Munguia - Bass

Brain drill started in the summer of 2005 by Dylan Ruskin on guitars as a sideproject. After parting from his main band BURN AT THE STAKE, he began looking for drummers that could actually play death metal and not just claim they could. Enter Marco pitruzella. Former drummer of: VITAL REMAINS, VILE, VORNAGAR, ATROCIOUS HYSTERIA, NUMA, and a few other extreme metal bands. After meeting Marco it was easily recognized that he was easily in the top 10 fastest drummers in the world and instantly was joined into the band.

After a few months of jamming Steve Rathjen was then later put onto vocals. BRAIN DRILL enterd the studio on march 1st 2006 to release their first 6 song demo. All 6 of the drum tracks were done the day before recording in one take by Marco Pitruzella. There was no editing and nothing was done over, HE BUSTED IT ALL IN A MATTER OF UNDER 2 HOURS!!! with no help from any computers or metronomes in the process. The next day the guitars and bass were added by Dylan and produced by Zack Ohren at CASTLE ULTIMATE STUDIOS. On May 9th Steve entered Castle Ultimate to lay down the vocal tracks. He had only 4 days to learn the songs and lyrics and laid them all down in under 3 hours. Unfortunately he left the band shortly after the recording due to stylistic differences.

After parting with Steve, the band quickly picked up Andre Cornejo, the singer from DEAD SYNDICATE, and quickly picked all of the material up. In the winter of 2006 Jeff Hughell was then added to the band as the new and permanent bassist. With mind blowing style and speed, inventing a 10 fingered tapping technique using a 7 string bass, and the song learning capabilities of a genius, it was quite obvious he was a perfect fit into the now 4 piece arsenal. Although in the summer of 2007 Andre was replaced by his predecessor, Steve Rathjen due to a complete difference in vocal style. Steve returned and is now more dedicated then ever to more and more increase the heaviness of Brain Drill's sound.

As of now BRAIN DRILL has shared the stage with bands such as : CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS, NECROPHAGIST, UNMERCIFUL, JOB FOR A COWBOY, ALL SHALL PERISH, DECREPIT BIRTH, ODIOUS MORTEM, and very many other extreme metal bands. In addition BRAIN DRILL has come in at number 8 in the top 10 myspace grindcore band charts in the world and has also come in at number 11 in the top 20 myspace death metal charts in the world, as well as being recommended in an interview with ALEX WEBSTER of CANNIBAL CORPSE as a "pretty fucking sick" band that has more and more pushed the limits of extreme modern death metal.

In the winter of 2008 Marco Pitruzella and Jeff Hughell both left the band due to touring complications. After 5 months of searching for a new drummer the band picked up Joe Bondra, drummer for such death metal bands as Lethean and Irakanji among a few others, the first day he played the songs with the band he was easily the new replacement. A few months later in the summer of 2008 Ivan Munguia was then added on as the new and permanent bassist. Knowing that he had been in bands such as Odious Mortem and Fetus By the Pound it was not even difficult for him to quickly pick up the bass tracks. With a following that grows by the thousands everyday, BRAIN DRILL is currently looking for shows to play and people to meet.

NOW SIT BACK AND ENJOY THIS SOUNDTRACK TO THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE.
