Blood Red Throne Posts Band Update
May 6, 2010
Norwegian death metal tyrants Blood Red Throne have posted an update regarding the band's current activities and line-up.

Guitarist Daniel "Dod" Olaisen comments:

"Cheers everybody. Some of you have noticed that Tchort has been away for a while and still are due to work and family commitments. Meanwhile, we've recruited Ivan Gujic from Neongod (www.myspace.com/neongodnorway) as his replacement for our upcoming live shows this year!

"Also, Anders decided to leave the band in February and after several auditions we're proud to announce the young, but very talented Emil Wiksten from Sweden as our new killer drummer. Check out one of his videos here.

"I've also written 3 new tracks for our upcoming album and this time we'll get back to the 'Altered Genesis' style with fast and brutal shit and of course some groove as well!"

Blood Red Throne Give Track by Track Rundown
May 30, 2009
Norwegian death metal tyrants, Blood Red Throne, are about to release their newest opus, 'Souls Of Damnation', on June 1st in Europe and June 30th in the USA. To whet the appetites of their brutal-minded fans, the band have written a track-by-track rundown of what you can expect to hear on the album:

"- The Light, The Hate; opening track of the album written by Død. Got it all. Fast and brutal riffs, some real headbanging groove riffs and a nice solo!

- Harme; written by Død. A bit Deicide-ish opening riff, but then comes a really groovy riff and in the middle there's a really slow part !

- Throne of Damnation; written by Død. The fastest track on the album. A bit Morbid Angel opening riff and then a real cool double bass drum verse riff. Also one of my favorite solos on this one. We're planning doing a music video for this one!

- Human Fraud; written by Tchort. Very Obituary kind of opening. I think it has some really old riffs of Tchort's back in the early Green Carnation days!

- Demand; written by Død. I wanted to do a thrash song. Maybe a bit Exodus-ish. The first song we recorded in studio!

- Your Cold Flesh; written by Død. One of my favorite tracks. A bit darker and slower, though it opens with a really Cannibal Corpse kind of riff. Then it comes some very cool mid-tempo riffs. I like the solo on this on too!

- Prove Yourself Dead; written by Tchort. Again some of his older riffs.

- Not Turgenjev, But Close; written by Død. A bit different riffing. One of the last songs I wrote.

- Ten Steps of Purgatory; written by Tchort. Somehow improvised and put together in studio. I think this is one of the coolest BRT tracks Tchort has written. A pretty unusual closing theme in this song.

- Manifest of Lies; the last track Død wrote. Meant to be the opening track, but we decided to put it on as a bonus track. A melodic intro and outro, and an awesome second riff going on!

- Affiliated With The Suffering; we always loved this album, but it has a shitty production. So, we decided to at least re-record one of the tracks and add as a bonus. Written by Tchort."

The full track listing for the album is as follows:
01. The Light, The Hate
02. Harme
03. Throne Of Damnation
04. Human Fraud

Blood Red Throne Guitarist On 20 Years Of 'Altars Of Madness
May 24, 2009
Many people might not realize that this month marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Morbid Angel's landmark release, 'Altars Of Madness'. The album has been a tremendous influence upon countless metal musicians throughout its 20 year history. Among them includes Død, guitarist of Blood Red Throne.

"When I started listening to death metal in 1991, this album was already a classic and an innovative album at that time. I remember we tried to pick "Maze of Torment" and "Chapel of Ghouls," but it was hard to figure out all the riffs."

Død, a Morbid Angel lifer, also mentions: "One of the first death metal gigs I went to was Morbid Angel in 1995. Immortal was support and Hellhammer did the drums!"

Biography
YEAR FORMED: 1998
HOME TOWN: Kristiansand, Norway
MEMBERS:
Tchort - Guitars
Død - Guitars
Vald - Vocals
Erlend C - Bass
Anders Haave - Drums

Norway isn't exactly known for death metal, especially not the bludgeoning American type. The deep guttural growls, the gurgling tuned down guitars, frantic vicious drumming and all the visceral chaos you'd expect from Florida…but this isn't Florida is it? In fact, Norway is about as far removed from Florida that you can get…until now. Spawned from frozen north, where the stark red of splattered blood on the snow can be a slightly more extreme and shocking sight when you are kneeling in it praying for your life, comes Blood Red Throne. If you aren't familiar with Blood Red Throne, get ready for the blunt force trauma and get AFFILIATED WITH THE SUFFERING.

Blood Red Throne came about in 1998 when Død and Tchort (ex-Emperor) were performing together as part of Satyricon's touring band. With their shared vision of morbidity and a twisted passion for brutal and extreme death metal the search for a drummer was on. Freddy "Fred the Shred" Bolsø joined the band and the three began rehearsing by playing songs by Deicide, Death and Obituary. When five stringer Erlend Caspersen joined, the band began writing their own material. Tchort had many meaty chunks of riffs written for the planned debut album of Green Carnation, (his first death metal band) which he brought to Blood Red Throne autopsy table, and Død contributed with new material written especially for the new experimental project. Like mad scientists bringing zombies to life from deformed body parts, Blood Red Throne's debut, 'Monument Of Death', took frightening shape in the rehearsal room. And a monster of a debut it was to be.

Their demo recording, 'DeathMix 2000' resulted in several offers from record labels and attention in the press. Blood Red Throne decided to sign with Hammerheart Records. Work began on completing the line up and continued writing of songs for the debut album. Long time friend and drummer, Mr. Hustler, was converted and persuaded into joining the bloody gang. He agreed just two weeks before recording was scheduled! 'Monument of Death' was the first ever metal album recorded in Dub Studios in Kristiansand with producer Endre Kirkesola. It was then mixed at Berno studios in Malmo, Sweden by Henrik Larsson (Amon Amarth, Vomitory). 'Monument of Death' saw the light of day in late 2001 included a limited edition package called 'The Suicide Kit', which not only contained the actual album, but also a printed razorblade and a poster. The kits were hand numbered in the band member's own blood!

In May 2002 the limited edition Mini 'Album A Taste For Blood' was released containing the often requested material from the 'Deathmix 2000' demo. It also included a cover song by Massacre, the very first release ever done by the band (for the 'Nordic Metal II' compilation) and a song from the debut album - all remastered in killer fashion! At this time, Freddy B, due to work commitments, had to quit the band. A replacement was found in Espen "Beist" Antonsen who come from the Norwegian black metal band, Slagmark. Blood Red Throne not only rehearsed new material but also was now ready to make ears bleed live. The band played at the highly acclaimed Inferno Festival with bands like Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir and Aeternus, supported Dimmu Borgir on their Norwegian tour, played the Smash Fest in Poland, and kicked ass with label mates Exmortem at the new Southern Discomfort festival, all the while working on the next album.

A new era of blood is upon us. 'Affiliated With The Suffering' is the newest chapter of the eviscerating bloody tales of Blood Red Throne, a sickeningly precise dose of Death Metal damage. Following this release the band changed gears and shifted labels, joining forces with Earache in December 2003, where plans for the follow up record were immediately put in place. October 2004 - "Altered Genesis" was completed. The band`s then newest Death Metal monument was released in February 2005 by Earache Records. 11 brutal Death metal tracks, powerful production and superb artwork is the spine of this excellent album from Norway`s leading Death Metal band.

Come Death will see the light of day on August 27th when the 4th studio album by Blood Red Throne is released in stores across Europe (in the USA in early October) and marks a new start for the band with two new members and a full range of live shows lined up including shows in Russia, Iceland, Norway, Belgium, UK and more.
