In Case You Didn't Already Know...
February 23, 2011
Celebrated progressive rock / cutting-edge metal band Between The Buried And Me has inked a worldwide recording deal with Metal Blade Records. The award-winning North Carolina quintet will kick off the partnership with the April release of its new album 'The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues'.

"We are delighted in the opportunity to join the Metal Blade family," commented BTBAM guitarist Paul Waggoner. "Their commitment to heavy music over the years is inspiring and we look forward to becoming a part of the ever-growing legacy of the label. Our new release, titled "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" will hit the streets in April. We are confident that our dedicated fans will appreciate it and hopeful that we will gain the attention of some new ears as well. In closing, I'd like to reference a quote from the illustrious Joe Dirt: "Life's a garden, dig it."

Further details on 'The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues' will be made available soon. The LP will contain the first new music from Between The Buried And Me since the release of 2009's 'The Great Misdirect', which landed at #36 on the Billboard Top 200 in its first week of release. BTBAM supported the album with a full scale North American headlining tour and live dates across Europe, Australia and Japan as well as a U.S. tour as hand-picked support for like-minded rockers Mastodon.

Their upcoming CD 'The Powerless Rise' is out May 11th on Metal Blade Records.

Many of Cool Tour's notable artists had a few words to say about this exciting new festival! "After taking last summer off to focus on writing new material, we'll be back out this year in support of our latest album, 'The Powerless Rise'," states As I Lay Dying guitarist Phil Sgrosso. "We've got a killer line up of bands that share the same passion for heavy music and putting on a great show every night for the fans. You don't want to miss a tour as good as this."

"We're looking forward to get out on the Cool Tour this summer," states Underoath guitarist Tim McTague. "2010 has been a transitional year for Underoath, and we are looking forward to putting our new direction in motion." McTague also adds, "Cool Tour is the perfect place to come out and show everyone what Underoath of the future will sound like."

Tommy Giles Rogers, vocalist of Between The Buried And Me is beyond thrilled. "Somehow, Between The Buried And Me, the un-coolest band on the planet, is part of a tour called Cool Tour. Even though this will not make us become cool, we are stoked to be a part of the tour. Pumped to get back around the U.S. and melt your fucking faces off."

Booking agent Tim Borror of The Agency Group had some final words to say about Cool Tour. "To say I'm excited about Cool Tour this summer would sound too plain and generic. I'm more than excited; it's my honor to work with the people putting this thing together behind the scenes and my honor to work with these bands. I already have great relationships with a few of these bands and I'm at the beginning of starting great relationships with the rest of them. Good times with good people making great music. Fuckin' A, the Cool Tour!"

Between the Buried And Me Annouce Global Tour Dates
December 22, 2009
Celebrated progressive rock / cutting-edge metal band Between The Buried And Me (BTBAM) has announced multi-continental tour dates in support of its critically acclaimed new album, 'The Great Misdirect'.

On January 8, 2010, Between The Buried And Me will launch a full scale North American headlining tour. Produced by Live Nation and presented by Killer Tours, the BTBAM winter whirl will run through February 6 in Charlotte, NC and features support from Cynic, Devin Townsend Project and Scale the Summit. The tour's official admat can be viewed at this location.

Immediately following the North American headlining trek, BTBAM will kick off a European tour alongside Lamb of God. The month long tour will begin on February 9 in Birmingham, UK and will criss-cross the continent, wrapping with a bang on March 12 in Lund, Sweden. Straight off the tour with LoG, Between The Buried And Me will embark upon a tour of Japan with The Red Chord as support. At the conclusion of the Japan dates, BTBAM will head to Australia for a string of major market live performances. A special one off show in Hawaii on April 1 will conclude the massive globe trot.

Additionally, Between The Buried And Me has completed work on the first music video from 'The Great Misdirect'. The gripping clip for the new BTBAM song "Obfuscation" can be absorbed now below.

Merging unparalleled musical bravery, prodigious musicianship, flawless execution and an angular landscape of forward thinking ideas, Between The Buried And Me reinvent the rock 'n roll idiom while pleasing their harshest critics: themselves. Joining metal's dexterity and progressive rock's forward-looking action, BTBAM create spine-tingling sound that contains visceral power, labyrinthine arrangement, mind-boggling melody and majestic beauty. Since its inception, the band has proven itself as a progressive rock pacesetter whose modernist clang pegs it as a paradigm to be followed and a yardstick by which other bands are measured.

Close your eyes, hold your breath, and venture into Alaska and beyond with Between The Buried And Me…Call them what you want, but as problematic to categorize as they are, Between The Buried And Me can best be described as an emotion-evoking rollercoaster, a cyclone of sonic splendor, a group of exceptionally innovative Artists. Call it death metal, power metal, hardcore, poignant rock, call it what you will, Between The Buried And Me’s follow-up to The Silent Circus, entitled Alaska, utters sheer brilliance from start to finish. 2003 saw the release of their Victory debut, The Silent Circus, and now their legions of staunchly loyal fans are on the edge of their seats waiting for their follow-up album. Does it measure up to The Silent Circus? Yes, it does. Between The Buried And Me have invited their listeners to journey with them into uncharted territory and unbroken ground with the release of their provocative new album, Alaska. Started in the year 2000, Between The Buried And Me formed as an effort to create music that explored beyond the barriers of their previous hardcore efforts. The band started playing shows around North Carolina, then unleashed their critically acclaimed self-titled debut upon the unprepared world, mesmerizing listeners. Between The Buried And Me took their show to the road and won over multitudes of fans before being quickly scooped up by indie powerhouse Victory Records. With a recording deal in hand, Between The Buried And Me went on to record one of metalcore’s finest opuses, The Silent Circus, and began to reach prolific, underground cult status. “We knew when we recorded The Silent Circus that we had something special in our hands. The next step we knew we had to take was to get out there and show people what we can do”, said vocalist Tommy Rogers. Rave reviews of this album came in by the boatload from publications and websites like Uranium Music, who called The Silent Circus “One of the best albums of the year”, and Chord Magazine who said, “if you like blazing tempo changes, sick guitar work and super speedy drumming, these guys have got the goods.”While praise of Between The Buried And Me’s musical innovation and ability poured in, they covered the North American continent, touring with bands like Bleeding Through, Converge, and Darkest Hour. Their world domination had begun. During this period, Between The Buried And Me went through several lineup changes, giving us their finest assemblage to date, featuring Tommy Rogers on vocals, Paul Waggoner and Dusty Waring on guitar, Dan Briggs on bass, and Blake Richardson on drums. Come spring of 2005, it was time for the band to head back to North Carolina to get ready to start writing fresh, sprawling, cerebral new compositions that appear on their new album, Alaska.Alaska was recorded throughout June of 2005: first at Basement Studios in Rural Hall, NC with Jamie King, who was known for recording Between The Buried And Me’s self-titled release. “We were stoked to go back and record again with Jamie. We’ve known him for years and have recorded with him before, it definitely feels like home in his studio,” said lead guitarist Paul Waggoner. After the recording sessions were complete, the band headed to Boston and finished up the album with producer Matthew Ellard, who recorded The Silent Circus and is also known for his work with Converge and Bury Your Dead. Between The Buried And Me are back to eschew any ideas of conventional thought and push themselves into never before seen artistic directions. Fans of intelligent, heavy music aren’t prepared for the musical ambush coming their way; Alaska is a magnum opus showcasing the band’s hypnotic and elaborate guitar work, relentless rhythmic underlining, thought-provoking lyrics, and creative ingenuity. Not since releases like Refused’s The Shape Of Punk To Come and The Mars Volta’s De-Loused In The Comatorium has the music world seen such an envelope-pushing group of musicians. Between The Buried And Me have upped the ante for all musical releases to come. Damn, they’ve done it again.
