Barren Earth Post 'The Leer' Video Online

The Finnish prog/death supergroup, Barren Earth, has posted their debut music video, for the track "The Leer," on their official MySpace page, and on YouTube. The song can be found on Barren Earth's debut full-length record, 'Curse of the Red River', which hit stores in the US last month on Peaceville Records. The brand new video was directed by Owe Lingvall of Village Road Film.

Another track off 'Curse of the Red River', "Forlorn Waves," can be streamed on the band's official MySpace page.

Barren Earth Launches 'Curse Of The Red River' Mini Site

Finland's up-and-coming prog/death supergroup, Barren Earth, has launched a mini-site in anticipation of their debut full-length record, Curse of the Red River, which is due out in the US on April 6th, courtesy of Peaceville Records. The new mini-site, which contains audio samples, a video teaser, and more, can be viewed at this location. 'Curse of the Red River' is the follow up to Barren Earth's debut EP, 'Our Twilight', which hit stores last November.

With a wealth of experience from internationally renowned acts, featuring former members of Finnish metallers, Amorphis, to current members of Swallow the Sun, Moonsorrow, and Kreator, Barren Earth presents progressive and folk textured death/doom metal of the highest order. Curse of the Red River combines the best elements of metal, prog, and more obscure psychedelic rock.

The Curse of the Red River recording session took place at Seawolf Studios, Helsinki (Ghost Brigade), in Summer 2009 with mixing carried out by the prolific Dan Swanö at Unisound in Sweden (Katatonia, Opeth, etc).

Barren Earth Set To Release Debut Full Length

Finland's up-and-coming progressive/death metal act, Barren Earth, has announced the release date for their debut full-length record, entitled 'Curse of the Red River'. The new record, which hits stores in the US on March 29th via Peaceville Records, is the follow up to last November's impressive, "Our Twilight" EP.

With a wealth of experience from internationally renowned acts, featuring former members of Finnish metallers, Amorphis, to current members of Swallow the Sun, Moonsorrow, and Kreator, Barren Earth presents progressive and folk textured death/doom metal of the highest order. 'Curse of the Red River' combines the best elements of metal, prog, and more obscure psychedelic rock - from Opeth to Pink Floyd, and Paradise Lost to Jethro Tull.

The 'Curse of the Red River' recording session took place at Seawolf Studios, Helsinki (Ghost Brigade), in Summer 2009 with mixing carried out by the prolific Dan Swano at Unisound in Sweden (Katatonia, Opeth, etc).

Barren Earth
recently conducted their debut live gig in their hometown of Helsinki, and plan to embark upon a series of shows throughout 2010, with a performance at the legendary Summer Breeze festival already confirmed. Outburn Magazine declares, "this year should be a big one for Barren Earth."

Barren Earth Release Debut EP

Finland's up-and-coming progressive/death metal act, Barren Earth, has just released their debut EP, 'Our Twilight', in the US via Peaceville Records. The four-song EP, which came out in Europe last week, will soon by followed by Barren Earth's debut full-length album, to be released in early 2010.

Barren Earth's impressive roster features former members of Amorphis, plus current members of Swallow the Sun, Moonsorrow, and Kreator. The 'Our Twilight' EP is a blend of progressive and folk-textured death metal, drawing inspiration from a diversity of musical acts and genres.

Metalunderground.com raves, "The 'Our Twilight' EP only gives a brief taste of Barren Earth's proficiency across four tracks, but it's more than enough to showcase what is undoubtedly going to become a new powerhouse in the arena."

Finland’s newest up-and-coming Progressive Death Metal act, Barren Earth, has launched a mini-site for the upcoming release of their debut EP, 'Our Twilight', which is due out in the US on November 17th, courtesy of Peaceville Records. The mini-site, which contains news, artwork, and audio clips from each of the EP’s four tracks, can be viewed at http://www.peaceville.com/barrenearth/ourtwilight/.

With former members of Amorphis, plus current members of Swallow the Sun, Moonsorrow, and Kreator, Barren Earth's debut EP can be described as a blend of Progressive and Folk-textured Death Metal. Inspired by everything from Opeth to Pink Floyd, and Paradise Lost to Jethro Tull, plus obscure psychedelic Rock and Finnish Prog., it's a fine journey through the realm of melodic brutality and keyboard-soaked atmosphere. Look out for Barren Earth’s full-length debut, containing the extended version of 'Our Twilight', in early 2010. Barren Earth is also set to play its first gig in support of the new EP at Dante’s Highlight, in the band’s hometown of Helsinki, on November 19th.

The melodic metal band BARREN EARTH was formed in Helsinki in the autumn of 2007.

The music of BARREN EARTH combines elements of modern and traditional (death) metal, with 70's prog rock and folk. Among the band's influences are artists like Paradise Lost, Opeth, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull and also some pioneers of Finnish prog.

The members' individual backgrounds in many internationally known and acclaimed outfits is a testament to the quality of the band's music. These same backgrounds are obviously also echoed in BARREN EARTH's music.

The songs presented here were recorded and mixed in late summer 2008 at Jive Studios, Helsinki.
