As I Lay Dying Issues Update From The Studio
November 17, 2009
As I Lay Dying is currently holed up with Adam D. and Daniel Castleman at Lambesis Studios in San Diego, CA. They're hard at work recording and writing their follow up to 2007's 'An Ocean Between Us'. The band will be recording and writing throughout the rest of 2009 and vocalist Tim Lambesis has issued the following update via the band's myspace page:

"We've released little bits of information here or there in previous news posts and blogs, but there are still questions coming in concerning what we've been up to. Below is an unquestionably obvious outline concerning our future plans...

1) We started working on new album.

2) We started recording the new album a few weeks ago with Adam D & Daniel Castleman at the reigns (and JMR for a couple weeks).

3) There are only drums for 8 songs tracked so far. One of them we're undecided about, but maybe it'll feel different when the vocals are done. Either way, we need write more than 8 songs (since they aren't as long as the 8 songs on Master of Puppets). Therefore we're working on writing MORE new songs as soon as we finish recording what's been started.

4) The only break in working on the new album will be our short trip to Mexico and Sri Lanka to play two of the best shows of our career.

5) All of us can't stress enough how grateful we are to be writing music that we love while still receiving a paycheck. This can only be credited to OUR LOYAL FANS! Sometimes bands need to rush out a crappy record so they can start touring again to pay their bills. In our case, we plan to make a record worth listening to (hopefully), and start touring again when we're done. Thanks for your patience and understanding. We care and we're working. In fact, I haven't had a full nights rest since March when the coolest kid ever made me a DAD!"

As Tim mentioned, the band will be playing in Mexico City, Mexico and one very special show all the way over in Sri Lanka.

As I Lay Dying
Tour Dates:
12/13 - Mexico City, MX - Jose Cuervo Salon
12/19 - Colombo, Sri Lanka - Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium

Tim Lambesis
recently sat down for a video interview with Johnny Orlando Jr'.s Antibiotic Resistant Metal Show. The hilarious clip can be seen below.

Austrian Death Machine Post Preview of 'Double Brutal'
September 3, 2009
As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis and California frontman Ahhnold are back for round two with the release of Austrian Death Machine's 'Double Brutal', the follow up to 2008’s highly successful (and, well, brutal) release, 'Total Brutal'. With an appetite for all things barbarous, Austrian Death Machine ups the ante with 'Double Brutal'. This two-disc goliath features one disc of all new heavy tracks in the tradition of all of Ahhnold’s greatest cinematic moments and a second disc of cover songs including songs originally performed by Metallica, Megadeth, Misfits, Judas Priest and more, with cover art once again being tackled by Ed Repka (Megadeth, Death, NOFX, Nuclear Assault, etc).

A new audio clip featuring sneak peeks at tracks taken from 'Double Brutal' is currently available on ADM’s MySpace page. Check it out to get a taste of the sheer brutality that is set to devastate the world on September 29th Doom-thousand and Nine.

“Sometimes being stereotypically metal is fitting. I'm not trying to break new ground; I just want to break people's necks…and have fun doing it” comments Austrian Death Machine creator Tim Lambesis. For anyone who doubts the barbaric and brutal nature of 'Double Brutal', rest assured this album truly is doubly brutal. How can anyone argue 'Double Brutal’s' pure savageness and testosterone filled manliness when you have Ahhnold, the strongest man in the universe and leader of many a mission filled with exploding chests, eyes bursting out of their sockets, and hands down the most classic one-liners you will ever hear, AND Tim Lambesis who can do a one armed push up while listening to SurvivorsEye of the Tiger’ (it’s true, I’ve seen it)?

Bottom line, Austrian Death Machine is still fast, still pissed, and still brutal.

'Double Brutal'
features shred-a-riffic performances by:
- BIlly Sheehan (if you have to ask, you are an idiot)
- Buz McGrath (Unearth)
- Andrew Tapley (The Human Abstract)
- James Gericke (Death By Stereo)
- Mark MacDonald (Mercury Switch)
- Rocky Gray (Living Sacrifice)
- Chris Storey (Smashface, ex-All Shall Perish)
- Rusty Cooley (again, if you need to ask…)

track listing:

Disc 1:
1. Double Ahhnold
2. I Need Your Clothes, Your Boots, and Your Motorcycle (from Terminator 2)
featuring guest shredding by Andrew Tapley

Austrian Death Machine To Release 'Double Brutal' This Fall
August 12, 2009
The heaviest metal band in the world (by sheer mass) has finished their follow up to 'Total Brutal' - get ready for 'Double Brutal'! Not satisfied with the limitations offered by putting out a single disc album, Ahhnold demanded two full cds full of muscle pumping metal! When asked why they needed two discs and why he thought that was best, he quickly replied, “Two discs made it heavy and brutal enough to crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and to hear the lamentations of their women!!!”

'Double Brutal'
is packed with more “juice” than a professional athlete. Disc one features soon to be classics "See You At The Party Richter," and "Let Off Some Steam Bennett." Disc two is crammed full of metal covers, complete with Ahhnold’s take on them, including Metallica’s "Trapped Under Ice" and "Killing Is My Business…and Business Is Good" by none other than Megadeth.

Austrian Death Machine
guitarist, bassist, drummer and vocalist, Tim Lambesis adds: “Most bands sit around in a rehearsal room for a few years to put out a 10 song album and do a tour supporting that release. I've been a busy touring with As I Lay Dying and traveled everywhere this year besides Antarctica, but in the five minutes that I was home between tours I decided to put together a double disc of Ahhnold inspired brutality called 'Double Brutal'. Also, Ed Repka (the legend behind the artwork for Megadeth) did an amazing job on this album cover.”

Children Of Bodom Announces Release Date For Covers Album
July 28, 2009
Children Of Bodom, the esteemed Finnish Heavy Metal band that features frontman and modern day Guitar Hero Alexi Laiho will release a full album of cover tunes containing 17 impressive remakes of the group’s all-time favorite songs this fall. Titled 'Skeletons in the Closet', the record will drop on September 22, 2009 via Spinefarm Records / Fontana International. The record’s cover art can be viewed at this location.

Long known for employing a lighthearted musical modus operandi despite both a weighty work ethic and no joke dedication to its craft, Children Of Bodom (or COB) has joined the ranks of the world’s finest heavy music acts over the course of the last decade. In Finland, Children Of Bodom has released three consecutive albums that have debuted at number one on the Finnish album charts and the band's latest album, 2008's 'Blooddrunk' landed at #22 on Billboard’s Top 200. COB has been recording cover songs since the early days of its career, some expectedly heavy ("Silent Scream" by Slayer, for example), others reflecting an altogether broader taste ("Lookin’ Out My Back Door” by Creedence Clearwater Revival) and “(Ghost) Riders In the Sky” by Stan Jones / Johnny Cash).

'Skeletons in the Closet'
features a first-rate selection of covers; some of them previously existing recordings, others specially laid down for this release. The LP delivers bang-up recordings of the Ramones’Somebody Put Something in My Drink”, Iron Maiden’s “Aces High”, “Talk Dirty to Me” by Poison and a searing version of the Billy Idol classic “Rebel Yell” amongst a host of others. Of special note is Children Of Bodom’s now-infamous take on Britney Spears’Oops!...I Did It Again”. The cover previously appeared on a Japanese-only pressing of the band’s 2005 album 'Are You Dead Yet?', and will now be available worldwide for the very first time.

The track listing for COB’s 'Skeletons in the Closet' is as follows:
1.) Lookin’ Out My Back Door (Creedence Clearwater Revival)
2.) Hell is for Children (Pat Benatar)
3.) Somebody Put Something in My Drink (Ramones)
4.) Mass Hypnosis (Sepultura)
5.) Don’t Stop at the Top (Scorpions)
6.) Silent Scream (Slayer)
7.) Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In) (Kenny Rogers)
8.) Hellion (W.A.S.P.)
9.) Aces High (Iron Maiden)
10.) Rebel Yell (Billy Idol)
11.) No Commands (Stone)
12.) Antisocial (Trust / Anthrax)
13.) Talk Dirty to Me (Poison)
14.) (Ghost) Riders In the Sky (Stan Jones / Johnny Cash)
15.) War Inside My Head (Suicidal Tendencies)
16.) Oops!...I Did It Again (Britney Spears)
17.) Waiting (King Diamond)

Children of Bodom
will return to North America this fall to headline a massive, month-long tour in support of 'Skeletons in the Closet'. Presented by ESP Guitars and Spinefarm Records in association with EMG, Exclaim! and Guitar World, the 20-city trek will launch on Friday, September 18 at Lupo’s Heartbreak Hotel in Providence, RI and will hit major markets in both the U.S. and Canada along the way. Support on the COB tour will be provided by The Black Dahlia Murder and Skeletonwitch.

Ticket pre-sales for the Children Of Bodom tour are available now at this location. The pre-sale landing page provides fans with the option to pre-order 'Skeletons in the Closet', as well as to purchase a special VIP package with a concert ticket, meet ‘n greet pass, autographed poster and the new record.

Children Of Bodom
made headlines this past May when the band was forced to cancel the tail end of its spring North American tour with Lamb of God after Laiho broke his shoulder and suffered internal bleeding as a result of a tour bus mishap. After bravely performing ten live dates with the serious injuries, the toll became too much for the guitarist to endure and Children Of Bodom made the decision to cut the tour short, placing Laiho’s long-term health as its first priority. Now, after rest and a successful recovery, Laiho and COB are back with a renewed vigor and ready to return stronger than ever before.

Alexi Laiho
was named "Best Metal Guitarist" in the 15th annual Guitar World Reader's Poll. Laiho, called “a guitar hero for the new millennium” by the magazine, bested well known players such as Kirk Hammett of Metallica, Alex Skolnick of Testament, Ihsahn of Emperor and more to win the coveted award. Laiho was recently featured alongside fellow guitar hero George Lynch on the cover of Guitar Center’s “June Guitar Buyers Guide”. Video of Laiho and Lynch “discussing music, tone and ESP” can be seen now on Guitar Center’s website at www.GuitarCenter.com.
