Soilwork Guitarist Comments On Producing New Album
May 13, 2010
The Godfathers of Swedish modern metal, Soilwork, will release 'The Panic Broadcast' on July 2 (Europe) and July 13 (N. America) via Nuclear Blast. It will be the first album to feature original guitarist, songwriter & producer Peter Wichers since his return to the band in 2008. 'The Panic Broadcast' was also produced by Wichers, as he did with the latest Nevermore release, and was mixed by Jen Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Katatonia, Symphony X). Wicher's took a moment recently to talk about what it was like to produce his own band after working with so many other great artists:

"Producing Soilwork was great challenge for me but also one of the greatest experiences of my career. I can honestly say that I've never worked this hard on any record that I've produced, but it was all worth it. I am super happy with the performances from all the guys, and I don't think Soilwork has ever sounded this good.

My approach for this record was to try and keep an open mind to the overall sonic picture, without letting my own ego take over (I am a guitar player after all, haha). By doing so, I think everyone on this record got a chance to shine, and that was my main goal. I'm super proud of this record and I know that even if you're an 'Old School' or 'New Listener' to Soilwork, this album has something for both. There are some insane fast and furious songs with insane blast beats, as well as groove. There's also a balance with songs that have some beautiful guitars/vocals and keyboard melodies.

This is the best album Soilwork has ever done!"

'The Panic Broadcast'
Track Listing:
01. Late For The Kill, Early For The Slaughter
02. 2 Lives Worth Of Reckoning
03. The Thrill
04. Deliverance Is Mine
05. Night Comes Clean
06. King Of The Threshold
07. Let This River Flow
08. Epitome
09. The Akuma Afterglow
10. Enter Dog Of Pavlov

Soilwork, Death Angel Team Up For North American Tour
March 18, 2010
The Godfathers of Swedish modern metal Soilwork are pleased to announce that they will embark on a North American headlining tour this Summer with San Francisco Bay Area thrash legends Death Angel. Joining them will be Quebec's tech-death masters Augury, Roadrunner Records fast rising tech melodic modern metallers Mutiny Within, and pirate themed thrashers Swashbuckle.

Soilwork
vocalist Bjorn "Speed" Strid commented: "We are stoked to tour with the most vicious thrashers from the west, famous for their gin drinking and intense live shows. Death Angel is a classic band that we've wanted to tour with for a long time. A perfect fit for the bill and surely an awesome touring companion. The summer of mosh is upon us. Don't miss out!"

Death Angel
frontman Mark Osegueda added: "I can't begin to tell you how excited we are about the upcoming tour! I first heard Soilwork on a Nuclear Blast promo compilation and they stood out from the first listen. The riffs, the drumming, and Bjorn's vocal attack! Then we were fortunate enough to play with them at With Full Force Festival a few years back and they killed it live! As fate would have it, I was asked to participate in a Nuclear Blast 20 Year Anniversary compilation album called Out of the Dark, which Peter Wichers wrote the music for. I wrote the lyrics and melody for a song on that compilation called 'My Name is Fate'! Peter actually was also the producer, so I was fortunate enough to get to work with him in the studio! What a brilliant guy and and a great musician and now that he is back in the fold Soilwork is back on top of their game. I think the musical styles and live performances of both bands will make every show on this tour a show not to be missed by any true fan of HEAVY music! So don't just hear about the aftermath, experience it for yourself!"

Obscura Drummer Launches New Website, Exclusive Tour Blog
March 7, 2010
Obscura drummer Hannes Grossmann has launched his personal website www.HannesGrossmann.com, offering customized online-video drum lessons. These lessons and instructional videos will also be made available via his YouTube channel and can be downloaded to any IPod or IPhone.

Grossmann commented on the site: "I want to give some insights to my playing and show young metal and non-metal drummers new ways to increase their drumming skills and be able to practice efficiently. The practice methods I developed over the years allow me to learn anything that I want within a short time period. When I joined Necrophagist in 2003 I managed to increase my single stroke hand speed from 200 bpm to 240 bpm in four months! No matter what you want to learn - may it be hand or foot technique, speed, odd time signatures, timing, warm-ups or even songs from the bands I played with - you'll get the chance to learn it on my website!"

Biography
YEAR FORMED: 2001
HOME TOWN: Montreal, Canada
MEMBERS:
Patrick Loisel (ex-Kralizec/Foreshadow) - Vocals/Guitars
Mathieu Marcotte (Humanoid
ex-Spasme) - Guitars
Dominic "Forest" Lapointe (Atheretic
Quo Vadis) - Bass
Etienne Gallo (Negativa
ex-Disembarkation/Neuraxis) - Drums

AUGURY is a relatively new name in Montréal’s musical landscape, yet the very idea of the band was in the air since the musicians met in 1997. But serious stuff began in the winter of 2001/2002 when lead/classical guitarist Mathieu Marcotte left his band Spasme and started auditioning a string of drummers to seriously start a complete outfit. Shortly after, he was joined by soprano vocalist Arianne Fleury and demented bass wizard Dominic “Forest” Lapointe and started to jam complete songs.

In the mean time, vocalist Patrick Loisel had pledged to join and, in February 2002, took a hiatus left his outfit Kralizec to become the band’s other lead guitarist as well. In June of 2002, former Adenine’s drummer Mathieu Groulx completed the line-up and helped the band shape their first six songs and play its first show. However, lack of time and different musical tastes led him to depart Augury.

For a few months, the drummer-less outfit spent time writing more songs, focusing on strings instruments arrangements. Then, to the relief of everyone, the final missing piece fell in the puzzle as drummer Étienne Gallo took over the seat. After months of arranging and rehearsing the songs, AUGURY finally commit their work into an album. Concealed was recorded by Yannick St-Amand and mixed by Jean-François Dagenais.
