Antagonist Unveil Cover Art, Street Date
July 2, 2010
Southern California's Antagonist has unveiled the cover art for their new album, 'World In Decline', which has been confirmed for an August 17th release date on Prosthetic Records. The art was done by Daniel McBride, (Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris) and ties in to the overall theme of the record.
Vocalist/guitarist Carolos Garcia explains the relationship between the cover and album; "'World in Decline' focuses on the downfall of human civilization as a result of our own selfishness, ignorance, and greed. The artwork was handled by our boy Daniel McBride, and the cover art is based on the lyrics for 'Darkest Darkness,' which, is basically, about me going to 'confession' just to realize I'm just as guilty as everyone else in contributing to our decline. We can't wait for Prosthetic to release the album, and we're even more excited to hit the road and play the new songs for everyone! There are definitely tour plans for the end of the summer, we'll keep you posted."
Antagonist recorded 'World In Decline', at Buzzbomb Studios in Orange, CA with producer Paul Miner (Terror, Thrice, Throwdown) and announced, last week, guest vocal appearances from Arsonists Get All The Girls' Jared Monette and John Strachan of The Funeral Pyre.
The track listing is as follows:
1. The Bane of Existence
2. Sasha Grey
3. Disguised In White
4. God On Fire
5. Wake Up And Smell The Lies
6. New Human
7. A Voice Unspoken
8. Already Dead (Featuring John Strachan)
9. Darkest Darkness (Featuring Jared Monette)
10. World In Decline (Featuring Jared Monette)
'World In Decline' is the follow up to, 'Exist', to Antagonist's 2008 Prosthetic debut. They also have two previous full lengths and several EPs. US tour details will be announced shortly.
Antagonist Announce New Album Title
June 22, 2010
Southern California metal outfit Antagonist has completed work on their new album and has announced 'World In Decline' as its title. The band recorded at Buzzbomb Studios in Orange, CA with producer Paul Miner (Terror, Thrice, Throwdown). Antagonist released 'Exist', their Prosthetic debut in 2008, and had two previous full lengths and several EPs.
Singer/guitarist Carlos Garcia commented on the forthcoming album: "We've just wrapped up the making of our new album with Paul Miner. We're super stoked on the finished product, and we hope everyone will feel the same! Paul was amazing to work with, he was very encouraging and super patient with us, and we're eternally grateful for that. And of course, he knows his way around the console. This is honestly the first album we've done that is an accurate representation of Antagonist's live sound, and it definitely showcases a more refined, aggressive sound. We're taking it back to the old school!"
Garcia also commented on the overall sound of 'World In Decline'; "'Exist' had a hopeful message of working together as humans towards a better future. The new album is about the realization that things will always be fucked up, people will always be selfish, and this world is going to end at any minute, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves. People grow older and figure out that life doesn't get any easier and that our own selfishness, carelessness, and ignorance are at the core of our demise. So right now, that's where our heads are at, which will in turn no doubt lead to a much more aggressive and angry album."
The band will be announcing a late summer tour shortly.

. This will be the first recording featuring new members, guitarist Roland Leonard
and bassist Nick Reyes
Singer/guitarist Carlos Garcia
commented on the forthcoming album:
"This will be the first album to feature our newer lineup, so the songwriting will be noticeably different in some areas; nothing too out of left field, but definitely some vibes different from the usual Antagonist
sound. But we promise lots of shred, lots of circle pits, and lots of groove. Probably the biggest difference this time around will be the clean singing (or lack thereof). This is a very pissed off album lyrically and thematically, so we thought it would only be proper to NOT include any clean singing this time around. I know some of you won't like that, but it's something we felt would be necessary to hopefully get our point across.

Antagonistís debut An Envy Of Innocence is a metal album full of the kind of ferocious sounds that havenít been heard since Panteraís Vulgar Display of Power. Starting in 1998, when the members were only 14 years old, Antagonist has been churning out hardcore metal for a dedicated fanbase in the Los Angeles underground. Playing garages, skating rinks, and anywhere they could, Antagonist eventually opened up for some of metalís biggest bands including Suffocation, Caliban, God Forbid and It Dies Today. Antagonist writes truly great songs. The technical playing on An Envy of Innocence does not take away from the songs themselves which are catchy, yet brutal. You feel the spirit of Chuck Schuldiner and Death, while at other times itís hard to miss the influence of classic Metallica thrash. But unlike most of todayís metal bands Antagonist writes the kinds of catchy hooks and choruses thatíll be permanently carved into your heart! Antagonist is rejuvenating metal. Their passion and love for the music will single handedly bring them the recognition they deserve. An Envy of Innocence is ultimately an album of struggle, perseverance, and heartache.
