Nonpoint, Skindred To Headline 'The Great American Rampage'
August 22, 2007
Bieler Bros. Records has announced the launch of "The Great American Rampage" tour. Created to be an annual touring event, this year's inaugural jaunt will take place in the United States and will run from October through December, and is set to feature a power-packed lineup of bands.

Co-headlining "The Great American Rampage" this year will be metal fan favorites Nonpoint, and the kings of ragga-punk-metal Skindred. Supporting the "Rampage" headliners will be none other than Latin metal monsters Ankla, who are currently dominating Ozzfest's second stage and making a name for themselves as the festivals breakthrough act this year. With three powerhouse bands already on tap, opening acts for the journey are expected to be announced soon.

"The Great American Rampage" will also feature a series of prize giveaways and opportunities to interact with the bands.

Dates for the tour and more details will be announced soon.

Ankla Bassist Checks In From Ozzfest
August 21, 2007
Ankla, the Los Angeles-based band led by former Puya guitarist Ramón Ortíz, is currently touring the U.S. as part of Ozzfest 2007 alongside Ozzy Osbourne, Lamb Of God, Static-X, Lordi, Hatebreed and Behemoth, among others. The group's bassist, Tony Castaneda, has issued the following update from the road:

"To tour the Ozzfest in a passenger van with a trailer attached and fighting the 100 and over degree heat, has been a crazy and amazing experience so far. From the first day when we hit the stage, an adrenaline rush came over us that is indescribable and has not left us till this day.

"So far we played 13 Ozzfest dates, and each and every one has been better than the last (performance wise). Along the way we've made new friends/fans that have come up to us to say that they have never heard of us until Ozzfest. To know that our fan base is growing on a daily basis, to us is the reason we play.

"As you may know, Ozzfest is one of (if not the) biggest heavy metal festivals in the country. The exposure we have been getting from this tour is immense, and can not be ignored!

"Aside from that, we have met some of the coolest, nicest, and down to earth people you'd ever want to meet. I'm talking about the bands! Lamb Of God, who is one of the biggest acts in the metal community, are there every chance they get, to check out our show, and hang out with all of the bands in the second stage after hours to BBQ and party with us all. In This Moment, Daath, Devildriver, 3 Inches Of Blood, Nile, Behemoth, and Hatebreed have definitely become good friends with Ankla, and have created a bond that will not soon be forgotten. Even Ozzy's drummer (Mike Bordin) has stopped by to check us out and personally invite us to see Ozzy's performance on the side stage.

"The only way to describe our Ozzfest experience so far is to say that it has been a heavy metal summer camp and it is far from over! Keep an eye out and be all ears, because you never know just who may join us on stage to share the experience!"

Ankla's debut album, 'Steep Trails', was released in July 2006 through Bieler Bros. Records.

Skinlab Announce Tour Changes
April 28, 2007
Bassist/vocalist Steev Esquivel of Bay Area beatdown crew Skinlab has issued the following update:

"Hey guys, few things changing here on the tour front.

"We've been left with no choice but to carry on the tour without our buds Will Haven. Sorry to all the Will Haven fans that were looking forward to seeing them. We're just as bummed, hopefully they'll sort out their issues and joins us on some of the dates. Ankla will now be direct support starting May 15, Pain Principle has been added to the entire tour, taking over Apiary's spot, with a local act from every city added to the show.

"We'd like to thank Apiary for being the cool dudes they are. Make sure to keep an ear out for them, they'll be makin alot of noise here this summer...

"Yup yup, things are kinda crazy trying to put tours together, ya know?

"All us bands have the right intention on trying to get out on the road with good friends, your favorite bands or what-not. Fact of the matter is, sometimes life's overwhelming expenses take hold of the metal dream and squeeze it by the balls.
We all try to make ends meet so we can get out there and bring the music to you , but sometimes things fall through, as in the case right now..... Shit happens!!! So make some fuckin' noise , let the clubs know you want your favorite local band to play."

A brand new Skinlab track, entitled "The Face of Aggression", has been posted on the band's MySpace page.

Skinlab will undertake the "Face of Aggression" headlining tour beginning on May 4 at Stoney's in Reno and ending on June 3.

Ozzfest 2007: Lamb Of God, Hatebreed And More
March 21, 2007
The following update has been posted online at

"Come join us," said Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne February 6 at the Los Angeles press conference to unveil the bombshell: this year's 12th annual Ozzfest will be known as "FreeFest." Ozzy and Sharon's statement--with tour producer Live Nation--was an invitation for other artists to join Ozzy by performing for free, thus making the tickets to the summer's premiere touring concert festival entirely free for fans.

This bold invitation to perform in front of tens of thousands of frenzied rock kids has already been accepted by such artists as Lamb of God, Hatebreed and cutting-edge Finnish act Lordi, who will lead the charge with Ozzy in this historic move that redefines a concert industry marred by rising ticket prices. Lamb of God and Lordi will perform on the main stage with Ozzy, while Hatebreed will headline Ozzfest's reliably down and dirty second stage with Mondo Generator, Ankla, Circus Diablo, Nile and The Showdown. These are only the first artists who have stepped forward to be part of this ground-breaking touring extravaganza, with more artists to be announced in the coming weeks for the main and second stages.

The 24-city earth-pounding Ozzfest will now launch July 12 in Seattle, WA at the White River Amphitheatre. The tour was originally announced to start July 7 in Southern California but had to be moved to accommodate the extension of Ozzy's European tour.

As Ozzfest's founder and namesake, Ozzy will make his triumphant return to the headlining position on this year's mainstage after surprising fans last year by performing on the second stage at a handful of dates. Audiences can expect the Prince of Darkness to unveil new songs from his forthcoming studio album (release date TBA), Ozzy's first disc of new material since 2001.

To gain entry into this year's Ozzfest, fans will go to or to find links that will direct them to special sponsor sites where tickets can be secured. Select sponsors will have a unique opportunity to engage fans one-on-one utilizing one of music's best known brands. Tickets will be available for download on June 12. Stay tuned to and in the coming weeks for more ticketing information.

HOME TOWN: Los Angeles, CA
Ikaro Stafford (vocals)
Ramon Ortiz (guitar)
Edgar Gonzalez (bass)
Jose Clark (drums)
Oscar Santiago (percussion)

By the arrival of the new millennium, after 2 major label releases and numerous nationwide and South American tours (including Ozzfest '99) with former band PUYA, Ramon Ortiz was feeling the need to give life to a new, heavier more brutal incarnation of his musical soul.

Driven by a burning desire to take his trademark latin metalcore sound to a new level the puertorrican guitar player put past achievements aside and set out on a journey to find the right pieces to complete the puzzle. Ankla was oficially formed in 2001 meaning anchor in Spanish.

Ankla represents a new musical vision deeply anchored in Ortiz lifelong passion for extreme forms of metal music. While borrowing traditional elements from thrash, death and hardcore metal the band still explores and incorporates some of the latin claves and syncopations that Ramon has been known for without ever stepping out of a metallic sound of power groove that is intended to push boundaries in the evolution of modern metal.

Ankla consists of Ikaro Stafford on vocals, Ramon Ortiz on guitar, Jose Clark on drums, Edgar Gonzalez on bass and Oscar Santiago on percussion. 2004 saw Ankla sharing stages with bands like Brujeria, Body Count, Six Feet Under and Hatebreed among others, proving to audiences in the west coast and in Puerto Rico the power of Ankla's crushing live show.

The band has been in the studio since last may working with producer Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Iommi, Halford, Evanescence) on its debut cd. The production is on its final stages and the devastatingly heavy album will be released by mid 2006. Be prepared! Drop the anchor!
