Undeniably one of the most revered metal bands on the planet today, the group's "battle metal" has been praised as "limitless" by the Village Voice and "fascinatingâ" by the Chicago Tribune.

Amon Amarth's
'Twilight of the Thunder God' was named as one of Village Voice Mediaâ's "Top 10 Metal Albums of 2008" (joining an impressive list of some of the genre's finest including AC/DC, Judas Priest and Metallica) and also made The Onion's hot list of "Best Metal of the Decade." In addition to playing songs from 'Twilight of the Thunder God' on the upcoming tour, Amon Amarth will showcase tracks from its vast back catalog, including 'Once Sent from the Golden Hall' (1998 ), 'The Avenger' (1999), 'The Crusher' (2001) and 'Versus the World' (2002); all of which have been remastered, reissued and paired with a bonus CD containing the full album played live (recorded in December 2008 in Bochum, Germany). Skeletonwitch Taps Jack Endino To Produce New Album
May 3, 2009
Midwestern thrash metal warriors Skeletonwitch, who are currently touring alongside Amon Amarth, will begin recording their as-yet-untitled new album with producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, High On Fire, Toxic Holocaust) on June 14. The record will be tracked in Seattle at both Studio Litho (owned by Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard) and Endino's own Soundhouse Recording.

"We're stoked to be working with Jack 'and Dino' Endino," says guitarist Nate Garnette. "We hope he will help us achieve a sound that is more natural, organic and powerful, as he did with High on Fire. The new material is coming along great. We can't wait to see it come to fruition!"

Throughout the first few months of 2009, Skeletonwitch has continued to tour extensively in support of its latest album, 'Beyond The Permafrost'. In recent weeks, the group delivered a show-stealing performance at the inaugural Scion Rock Fest, played multiple South By Southwest (SXSW) showcases with labelmates Kylesa and crossed the country with Amon Amarth.

"Scion was fucking killer!" Garnett says. "It was one of the best festival lineups of the last 10 years, the organizers treated all the bands like kings and we got to hang out with some good friends in Baroness, Toxic Holocaust, High on Fire and Withered."

As for SXSW, "We had a killer time," says guitarist Scott Hedrick. "Playing two shows a day and getting drunk twice a day was a new challenge, but I think we kicked its ass. Everyone who told us metal doesn't go over well at SXSW obviously didn't attend Full Metal Texas, The Tone Deaf showcase or the Absu show!"

After the Amon Amarth tour wraps up in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. on May 2, Skeletonwitch will perform two additional Florida shows with Goatwhore. They will also play regional dates later in May to debut new material. The dates are as follows:

5/03 - Crowbar – Tampa, FL (w/ Goatwhore)
5/04 - Engine Room – Tallahassee, FL (w/ Goatwhore)
5/23 - The Union – Athens, OH
5/30 - Frankie's – Toledo, OH (w/ Black Tusk)

"The Amon Amarth tour has been incredible," Garnette says. "We get to hang with some of our best friends in Goatwhore, and our new friends, the Amon Amarth dudes, rule! Odin made it possble! Grow a beard!"

Since signing with Prosthetic in 2007, Skeletonwitch has performed more than 300 concerts and toured with a who's who of heavy metal, including Danzig, Dimmu Borgir, Municipal Waste, Nachtmystium, Job For A Cowboy, Darkest Hour, Cephalic Carnage and many more.

Goatwhore Announce New Album Title
April 26, 2009
New Orleans, LA's sons of American no-frills black metal, Goatwhore, have just announced that the title of their fourth full-length album, and second release under the Metal Blade banner, will be 'Carving Out the Eyes of God'. For the follow up to 2006's 'A Haunting Curse', Goatwhore headed back to St. Petersburg, FL to record with producer Erik Rutan at Manna Studios with mastering being handled by Alan Douches of West West Side.

Vocalist Ben Falgoust comments on the direction of the new album; “I don't really know how to explain this. I don't want to come off with the typical speech about how this record is our best yet and all of that. I will say that I am quite pleased how it has turned out and all parts relating to it. I feel every member put a great deal of effort into their part of the project. I even feel Erik Rutan busted his ass even more this time to make us feel that we didn't take any steps backwards in the recording and production of this release…I don't even really care what the critics say. I think the end result is basically coming up with something you have put a lot of work into and the satisfaction achieved in completing it. I will say that the new material is ripping metal and we still have that ‘Goatwhore' sound, whatever that may mean for each individual that enjoys or hates what we do. Just look at it as another step in the evolution of this band. Each person that hears it will have his or her own perception of it. Like it or not, we don't have a say in it. The only thing we can do is just keep writing the way we do and accept the criticism. Doesn't mean we are gonna listen to the criticism and change. Just give it an honest listen and if you dig it, awesome! If you don't, then pass it on to a friend or use it as a new drink coaster.”

Guitarist Sammy Duet had this to add; “Dark, heavy, evil. Erik Rutan did one hell of a job on it. If you don't like it… kiss my ass.”

Track listing to 'Carving Out the Eyes of God':
1. Apocalyptic Havoc
2. The All-Destroying
3. Carving Out the Eyes of God
4. Shadow of a Rising Knife
5. Provoking the Ritual of Death
6. In Legions, I Am Wars Of Wrath
7. Reckoning of the Soul Made Godless
8. This Passing into the Power of Demons
9. Razor Flesh Devoured
10. To Mourn and Forever Wander through Forgotten Doorways

'Carving Out the Eyes of God' will be available everywhere June 23rd, 2009.

Don't forget to catch Goatwhore live as they tour with label mates Amon Amarth and Lazarus AD and Prosthetic Records Skeletonwitch. The band will also be playing some shows in FL and LA, one of which will be with fellow NOLA act Crowbar, and will be hitting the road this fall with Obituary, Krisiun, The Berzerker, and Warbringer.

Biography
YEAR FORMED: 1992
HOME TOWN: Tumba (Stockholm), Sweden
MEMBERS:
Johan Hegg - Vocals
Ted Lundstrm - Bass
Olavi Mikkonen - Guitars
Johan Sderberg - Guitars
Fredrik Andersson - Drums

Deeply rooted in death metal with firm beliefs in Viking mythology, AMON AMARTH formed in 1992 in Tumba, Sweden, a southern suburb of Stockholm. They began writing material with lots of melodies, harmonies and lyrics about Vikings and the northern gods. In summer 1993 they entered Lagret Studio to record the never released demo "Thor Arise". The band continued to rehearse and writing stronger material and again entered the studio. The result was the second demo "The Arrival Of The Fimbul Winter". This time the band was much more satisfied with the sound and songs and launched it to an unsuspecting underground. The response was overwhelming, quickly selling out of the first pressing and secured them a one off deal with Singapore's Pulverised Records.

This time they decided to use Abyss Studio, owned by Peter Tgtgren of Hypocrisy, and during five days in November 1995 the MCD "Sorrow Throughout The Nine Worlds" was recorded. The five track recording contained three new songs plus two re-recorded tracks from the band's second demo. The MCD was released in April 1996 and continued the band's build to world dominance. June 1996 saw the exiting of drummer Nico who was quickly replaced with Martin Lopez. During this time labels began to show interest and after much consideration the band chose to sign with Metal Blade. In March 1997 Amon Amarth entered again Abyss Studios to record their Metal Blade debut "Once Sent From The Golden Hall" with Peter Tgtgren. The result proved that they were destined to become force of fury in the Swedish Death Metal scene and beyond.

After the recording of "Once sent...", guitarist Anders Hansson quit just a month before their first major tour with Deicide, Six Feet Under and Brutal Truth in June 98. They quickly recruited Johan Sderberg to make the line-up complete. The line-up was now solidified. "The Avenger" was recorded at Abyss Studios Sweden February to March 1999. Produced by the band, the seven track album is a lesson in pure Viking aggression and brutality blurring the line between death and black metal. The tour following this release was the X-mas massacre festivals, headlined by Morbid Angel.

In November 2000 the band entered The Abyss Studio for, as it would turn out, the last time. This time they recorded the album "The Crusher" (released in 2001). Living up to it's name, "The Crusher", the album is the most brutal album the band has produced so far. This release gave Amon Amarth the opportunity to tour a lot more than before and right after the recording they went on their first headlining tour through Denmark and Germany with Purgatory and Seirim. That tour ended up with great succes and they also managed to be the first metal band entering the German stages for the century. 00.05, 01 of January in 2001 in Guben. Then they went on the No Mercy Festivals 2001 with bands like Marduk and Vader. In the fall of 2001, Amon Amarth was supposed to support Marduk on their American tour, but due to the events of September 11th, that tour was postponed until January 2002, and if that wasn't enough, Marduk couldn't make it over to the states. So Amon Amarth got to headline their very first US tour, supported by Diabolic from Tampa, FL. The tour was a huge success, but unfortunately the tour agency decided to cut the tour short with one week. Returning to Europe, Amon Amarth was offered the possibility to headline their own full European tour, and in April 2002 they went on the road together with Swedish "gore-masters" Vomitory. During the tour the band kept writing new material for an upcoming album.

August 2002 started with the bands second appearance at Wacken Open Air. Approximately 12 000 people saw the show, and the response was overwhelming. Almost going straight from Wacken to the Studio, Amon Amarth began recording their new album "Versus the World" on August 7th. This time, however, the band had to use a new studio, since Peter no longer produces or records any bands, except his own, in his studio. The choice fell on Berno Studio in Malm, and it turned out to be a great choice. Berno Studio has a great reputation in the scene and Amon Amarth found it to be very easy to work with both Berno (owner, engineer) and Henrik (engineer). Recording in a new studio gave new dimensions to the bands sound. During the recording, the band managed to squeeze in a trip to Germany and the Summer Breeze festival, where they made a successful appearance. The new album is set to be released on November 18th, and proves to be a milestone in the bands career.
