Alexisonfire Sign To Roadrunner UK
May 5, 2009
Roadrunner Records UK are proud to announce the release of 'Old Crows/ Young Cardinals', the fourth album from Canada’s Juno Award-winning Alexisonfire.

"We're really proud of this new record," says guitarist/vocalist Wade MacNeil. "'Old Crows / Young Cardinals' is a big step forward for the band, and signing to Roadrunner for Europe and Japan is an important part of that."

The St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada-based quintet have set June 22 (June 23rd in the U.S.) as the release date for the highly anticipated follow-up to the band’s Platinum-selling album, 'Crisis', which debuted at #1 on the Top 200 Soundscan Chart in Canada.

'Old Crows/Young Cardinals' was recorded at Armoury Studios (Vancouver, BC) and Silo Recordings (Hamilton, ON) and is co-produced by Alexisonfire alongside Julius “Juice” Butty who produced previous albums 'Watch Out!' and 'Crisis'. Legendary Nick Blagona also engineered the album at the Armoury Studio sessions.

'Old Crows/Young Cardinals' will be released by Roadrunner in Europe and Japan, with Dine Alone releasing in Australia and South Africa, and Vagrant in the US.

Alexisonfire will play a run of 3 intimate headline shows at the Borderline in London, 9/10/11 June - all of which sold out immediately of going on sale. They will be supported by Sharks (June 9), Hexes (10), and Ghost Of A Thousand (11). They also play Germany’s Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park Festivals, as well as Reading & Leeds Festivals in the UK. *Alexisonfire are not playing the Download Festival*

Alexisonfire To Release 'Old Crows/Young Cardinals' In June
April 26, 2009
Coming off their 2007 breakout album 'Crisis'--which achieved platinum-selling status in Canada after debuting at #1 on the Top 200 Nielsen Soundscan Chart there--Alexisonfire have announced they’ll release their fourth studio album, 'Old Crows/Young Cardinals' June 23rd on Vagrant Records. Fans can get an early listen of “Young Cardinals”--the first single off the new album--up now exclusively on Imeem.

For the new album, the St. Catharines, Ontario-based rock group re-teamed with Julius “Juice” Butty (Protest the Hero, City and Colour) to produce. Even more intense and focused than before, the sound here is bracingly rhythmic, shot through with a do-or-die vocal urgency and sharp harmonies.

“'Old Crows/Young Cardinals' was built on the foundation of 'Crisis', musically it moves at a feverish pace,” explains singer Pettit. “The lyrics span from metaphysical rebellion, to living as a nomad. This album is the culmination of the history of our band. Personally, I feel it is our best record yet, but you get to be the judge of that.”

In early June, Alexisonfire will head to Germany for the Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park festivals. Next up, they’ll hit London for a three-night sold-out stand at Borderline. Late June, the group will perform on the entire Vans Warped Tour 2009 (June 26-August 23), joining NOFX, 3Oh!3, Bad Religion, Flogging Molly, TSOL, Underoath and many more on the annual punk rock extravaganza which celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

Onstage is where Alexisonfire explode. As Metal Hammer noted during their Taste of Chaos performance in the U.K.: “As a band who can daily sell-out 8,000 capacity crowds in their native Canada, Brixton might not seem like a challenge, but AOF still work hard and fast to fill the space, with spellbinding results. After a set like this, and a reaction like that, 2007 could well be the year Alexis catch fire on every venue they land in.”

HOME TOWN: St. Catharines, Ontario - Canada
George Pettit (vocals)
Dallas Green (guitar)
Wade MacNeil (guitar)
Chris Steele (bass)
Jesse Ingelevics (drums)

St. Catherines, Ontario’s, ALEXISONFIRE construct an impressive blend of turbulent and explosive dynamics with intricate guitar melodies and beautiful singing. Formed in late 2001 as the result of a three band break up five friends; George Pettit (vocals), Wade MacNeil (guitar/vocals), Chris Steele (bass), Jesse Ingelevics (drums) and Dallas Green (guitar/vocals) came together to create something that has become greater than the sum of its parts. From the outset, Alexisonfire’s work ethic has been nothing but exhaustive. Within three months of their conception the band had played their first show and recorded a three-song demo. Alexisonfire took to the road and it wasn’t long before Southern Ontario and up state New York picked up on their infectious sound as well as their cathartic live performance. At shows one can witness guitars flying violently through the air, bodies colliding and a sea of kids raising their fists and crowd surfing to get a hold of the mic. Although it was never meant to be more than a demo Alexisonfire’s first recording sold over a thousand copies. Said demo managed to gain the attention of Distort Entertainment and EMI music publishing who signed the band immediately. Alexisonfire continued to write material at a blistering pace and released a self-titled album on Distort Entertainment. The album was met with critical acclaim and eventually broke the Canadian Top 200 Soundscan chart. Never content to sit idle the band toured relentlessly in Canada and up state New York. Alexisonfire create a very exciting musical juxtaposition by combining ear stabbing screams, complex guitar work and ethereal vocals with a chaotic and sometimes riot-inspiring live experience. Their sound is a direct collaboration of personal influences based on the love of music and the desire to play. This open-minded approach has allowed them to play with a variety of diverse bands such as The Misfits, From Autumn To Ashes, Gwar, Hopesfall, Small Brown Bike, Billy Talent, This Day Forward, Thrice and appear on the 2002 Warped Tour.
