A Different Breed Of Killer Recording New Album In Dolby 5.1
August 31, 2009
Knoxville, Tennessee's A Different Breed Of Killer have announced they are preparing their second full-length to be titled 'The City'. The album will be produced by the band’s drummer Nija Walker, who has been a student of recording technologies for 8 years, and worked directly under world-renowned mastering engineer Seva at SoundCurrent Mastering in Knoxville, TN. The album will also be mastered by Jamie King (Between the Buried and Me, Through The Eyes Of The Dead) at The Basement Recording in Winston-Salem, NC.

Also unique to this recording is plans to record, mix and master the entire album in
Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound. The band stated “to our knowledge this is the first time this process has been applied to a death metal record.” (Do some research on Dimmu Borgir and Arch Enemy. Pretty sure they've done the 5.1 thing already. - Ed.)

While the band’s first release 'I, Colossus' (2008 ) was a concept album about a man made monster on a rampage, 'The City' will also have a story more global in scale dealing with a city in post world war 3 North America. The band also commented on changes in the music by stating “the material on this album is more derivative of our older death/prog metal influences, like Cannibal Corpse and Cynic. Expect more bass and drum work, as the rhythm section of ADBOK has gotten a lot tighter over the past year due to immense training. The vocals from new member Klint Monroe will be more mature and developed than our previous release. Also, new guitarist Jared Bivens brings a polished, heavy riffing style that 'I, Colossus' lacked. We're all maturing and learning constantly. Having entered the music industry at ages 17-20, we feel that this next effort will produce a more refined sound that is much closer to our original ideas at the time of the band's inception.”

The band has also announced that they have left Rise Records and are in the process of securing a new label for 'The City'. 'I, Colossus' received national coverage in magazines such as Outburn and Metal Edge. The band proceeded to complete multiple national tours with such artists as Carnifex, With Blood Comes Cleansing, Impending Doom, Whitechapel and Through The Eyes Of The Dead.

TTEOTD To Take Part In 'Bang Your Head Til We Raise The Dead
July 26, 2008
South Carolinian death metal quintet Through The Eyes Of The Dead have been confirmed as direct support to Whitechapel for the upcoming Bang Your Head ‘Til We Raise The Dead Tour, which is scheduled to start August 28 through the end of September, and will also feature Impending Doom, A Different Breed of Killer, and, on a handful of dates, Molotov Solution. The month of dates marks the band’s first time back out on the road since earlier this spring on a string of dates that included a stop at this year’s tenth annual New England Metal and Hardcore Festival.

"We're very excited to be an addition to the "Bang Your Head Til We Raise The Dead" tour,” guitarist Justin Longshore says. “After wrapping things up on the tour with Animosity in April, we've been home this summer for a much needed rest and writing tons of new riffs and ideas for our next record. Everything is coming along really well and we are pumped to finally be back out on the road again. Make sure you do not miss out on this tour!"

Through The Eyes Of The Dead continues to support its latest effort, 'Malice', which saw an August 2007 release through Prosthetic Records. Featuring artwork by Paul Romano (The Red Chord, Mastodon, Trivium), ‘Malice’ is the band’s second full-length and was recorded with Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Cannibal Corpse), which has led to the live shows across North America both headlining and alongside the likes of As I Lay Dying, The Red Chord, As Blood Runs Black, Animosity, labelmates Beneath The Massacre and All That Remains and more. The video for “Failure In The Flesh,” directed by David Brodsky is available online and can be viewed below.

Jesse Mainor - Vocals
Ethan Brown - Guitar
Trevor McKee - Guitar
Louie Thal - Bass
Nija Walker - Drums/Percussion

"These guys blew my mind the first time I listened. Halfway through the first song I was messaging them about a record deal. I'm very excited to work with these guys and I think they will turn heads in 2008 when the debut record drops."

-Craig Ericson of Rise Records

"A new breed of metal is on the rise. Fusing the brutality of modern death metal with melodic hooks that don't leave your mind. A Different Breed of Killer puts a refreshing spin on a genre that is growing stale. Formed in October of 2006, they have quickly made a name for themselves in the metal scene in less than a year, and their popularity continues to climb. With a sound that is crushingly heavy, yet at the same time catchy and captivating, A Different Breed of Killer will soon be on the tongues of everyone."

-Alex Wade of Whitechapel
