1349 Comment On New Album, Working With Tom G. Warrior
April 1, 2010
Norway's 1349's upcoming fifth full length, 'Demonoir', due out April 27th in North America via Prosthetic Records, was recorded at Studio Nyhagen, deep in the woods in Norway with Tom G. Warrior (Hellhammer, Celtic Frost), who showed the greatest respect for the task and played a key role as motivator and catalyst. His technical role of the recording was that of a co-producer, but far more important was his presence and understanding of what a challenging project 'Demonoir' was.

Ravn Comments:
"In hindsight, it is our belief that Tom was the missing piece of the puzzle, adding that element of heritage we needed. He represented the direct link to the Creators! We also need to mention three other contributors; Ronnie leTekro - one of the most acclaimed guitarists on the globe, wrenched his soul inside out as he recorded one of the leads for "Psalm 7:77"; a truly breathtaking experience. We had some excellent, wicked grand piano play carried out by Canadian pianist Tony Caputo. And then there was Thorbjorn Benjaminsen of Hornorkesteret that recorded some spine chilling themes with his stringed reindeer horns, adding a touch of natural grimness to the electric inferno."

Prosthetic Records has launched the pre-order for the North American versions of the album; a digipack CD and a limited edition (only 666 made) 12" picture disc LP. The CD and LP can be purchased individually or together, or in a bundle with a T shirt. Pre-order yours now at the Prosthetic Webstore.

Please check out the brand new design on 1349`s Myspace profile. It looks grimmer than ever before. There you also will find the track "Atomic Chapel" from the upcoming album 'Demonoir'.

The band will be hitting the US in April and May in support of Cannibal Corpse, along with new label-mates Skeletonwitch and Lecherous Nocturne.

1349 Unveil N. American, European Special Edition Artwork
March 11, 2010
Norwegian black metal act 1349 have unveiled the cover art for the North American and European special edition of their upcoming album, "Demonoir." The album will be released by Indie Recordings throughout Europe on April 26, and by Prosthetic Records in North America on April 27.

The track list is as follows:
11. Tunnel of Set - I
12. Atomic Chapel
13. Tunnel II
14. When I was flesh
15. Tunnel III
16. Psalm 7:77
17. Tunnel IV
18. Pandemonium War Bells
19. Tunnel V
20. The Devil of the Deserts
21. Tunnel VI
22. Demonoir
23. Tunnel VII

For the band's fifth full-length release, 1349 decided to suck out the fiercest and most potent energies from every single member and surroundings, channeling it into songs that are pulsating with uncanny atmospheres, rawness and nerve shattering intensity. The whole process of getting the material on record was like one long, exhausting black magic summoning that could not be allowed to go wrong.

"Demonoir" is without a shadow of a doubt 1349's darkest, most sinister and brutal work to date, and in this case it comes to mean that the band has gone from the utterly extreme to the genre-expanding and mindboggling. Black Metal cannot, and will never be the same.

"Demonoir" will be available in North America as a digipack CD and a limited edition 12" picture disc LP.

The band is also confirmed for North American dates this spring with Cannibal Corpse. The dates are as follows:

w/ Cannibal Corpse, Skeletonwitch, Lecherous Nocturne:
4/20 - Firestone - Orlando, FL
4/21 - Masquerade - Atlanta, GA
4/22 - Volume 11 Tavern - Raleigh, NC
4/23 - JAXX - Springfield, VA

5/02 - Granada Theater - Lawrence, KS
5/03 - Gothic Theatre - Denver, CO
5/05 - Slim's - San Francisco, CA
5/06 - House Of Blues - Los Angeles, CA

Biography
YEAR FORMED: 1997
HOME TOWN: Oslo, Norway
MEMBERS:
Archaon - Guitars
Frost - Drums
Ravn - Vocals
Seidemann - Bass

1349 rose from the ashes of Alvheim in 1997, counting Ravn (vocals & drums), Tjalve (guitars), Seidemann (bass) and Balfori (guitars). Balfori quit shortly after due to musical divergence. In early '99 the band found Archaon whose speed and technique took their music to a new level of intensity and brutality.
Come spring 2000, 1349 decided to record a new promo showcasing the new material, and Frost of Satyricon was asked to lay down the drum tracks to get the speed required. Holycaust Records offered them a deal and released the new promo as an eponymous MCD. By early 2001, the band felt they had enough killer songs for afull-length album – “Liberation”. Hearing this material, Frost was so impressed that he asked to join and became a permanent member of the band. Recorded and mixed at Gordon Studios, Liberation blended old school soundscapes with warp-speed hysteria. 1349 signed with Candlelight Records in 2003 and released their debut full-length album in april 2003, then marched unstoppably forwards with the following releases “Beyond the Apocalypse” in 2004 and “Hellfire” in 2005.

In between recordings 1349 spent a lot of time on the road and have over the years toured with Celtic Frost, Gorgoroth and Carcass, to name a few, as well as performing at festivals like Wacken, Summer Breeze, Hellfest and SXSW. Guitarist and founding member Tjalve left in 2006 to focus his musical efforts on his band Pantheon I. Four years after the release of “Hellfire”, 1349 decided to unleash a quite different monster upon the unsuspecting masses and “Revelations of the Black Flame” saw 1349 return to Studio Studio Nyhagen with Tom G. Warrior co-mixing the album along with Ravn. Released May 25th 2009 on Candlelight Records, Revelations... saw 1349 explore the slower, darker and more ambient side of black metal, while still retaining the spirit of audible hellfire. An even deeper darkness was added to the sphere of 1349...it’s evident that from here, it’s gonna get scary.

2010 marks the end of an era for 1349. With new cooperation partners Twisted Talent (booking), PHD (merchandise) and last but not least, Indie Recordings as the chosen label, 1349 have prepared their next audible assault, filled to the brim with abyssic darkness and hellish energy. This release - by far their most brutal to this date - creates a great deal of friction in terms of differences from their previous efforts, and in addition brings several untraditional creative elements, another proof of the band’s innovative take on Black Metal.

Alongside a US/Canadian tour, the band kicks off the new decade with a string of one-off European shows including the bands 1st ever show in Finland and several high-profile festivals such as Wacken and Summer Breeze.
